On this note...

I'd like to nominate myself for this meeting.
I will go to IoM, sign NDA, sign PokerStars sponsorship *woooot*.
I will go to the meetings, look them in the eyes as xPeru did and eventually... I won't achieve anything... So I'd troll a bit there.

BUT! I will have a nice paid vacations.
So that has to stand for something, right?

Today pokerstars announced next week is "Omaha week", with special 50% extra VPP promos, special tournaments etc.

This surprises me because game-specific promotions were suggested at the meeting I attended last year to promote fixed limit hold'em, but we were told in clear terms that PokerStars would not encourage players to play at certain games.

I would recommend representatives this time, whether one from the FLHE community goes or not, to bring this up and ask how this policy has changed, and whether PS is still committed to dealing games like FLHE, and if so if such game-specific promotions, previously dismissed, can now be considered.

[i no longer play on pokerstars.com and i'm not getting involved in this process at all, but i wanted to mention this to draw the comparison]

1. I have played online poker full time since 2003 and have played millions of hands(PokerStars SN: jwvdcw).

2. I am experienced, passionate, and knowledgeable about psychedelic drugs and the experiences/mindstates they provide. If Stars reps deem it necessary/useful to conduct these meetings under the influence of certain psychedelics I can most definitely provide shamanic assistance. These drugs have a way of increasing honesty and good-will, and thus they will certainly be helpful for our purposes.

3. My main game is PLO8, thus I feel qualified to speak on some of the issues regarding the rake and blind structure in PLO(while there are some differences between PLO and PLO8, my PLO8 experience provides me with a valid understanding of why the high rake in games with such small edges on all streets is unsustainable long term)

4. I have a family history involved in the poker industry(although I didn't know my biological dad too well, I know that before his passing he worked as the Director of Poker Operations at Binions back when the WSOP was at Binions).

5. I have previously squatted 385 lbs, and I am currently engaged in a prop bet with Aaron "aejones" Jones in which I will attempt to squat 325 lbs 25 times in ~30 minutes via 5 sets of 5 reps. I am not familiar with the Isle of Man, but needless to say that this squatting ability will intimidate any predatory forces we encounter in the vast jungles out there.

6. I would be willing to post video blogs of my experience on youtube(as much as Stars will allow).

7. I can start a game of NES Tetris on level 19(hold down the A button while you select level 9) and get the max number of lines(I think its 230 but not positive) before it goes into the next phase(which is unbeatable).

8. With a huge volume of 2p2 posts and having been a member for such a long time, I am aware of most of the current issues being raised by the community.

Here is a recent picture for consideration:

Spoiler:

And here is an older photo. I believe the contrast between the two will demonstrate my growth and ability to change(which is very important in today's ever-changing poker landscape):

Spoiler:
You have my vote. You should bring this to the O8 community (and the PLO communities) to increase your chances. Last time ichibin bubbled the pool when he was on the shortlist, but PLO rake wasn't a pressing issue at the time.

GL!

They were suggested and discussed at the October meetings as well.

A couple of people have nominated me to go and after some thought I will throw my name in the hat. I believe that different cash games should be treated different rake wise just like Sng's are raked differently based on conceivable winrates. Another disturbing trend is the watering down of the VIP rewards which has occurred over the past two years.

Quick example is the "VIP" 50fpp buy in to the weekly $500 guarantee for LHE and PLO. This tourney used to be a 1k guarantee for LHE but was switched to two separate $500 guarantees. Now these tourneys offer no "overlay" as the buy in is worth 80 cents they actually are reverse overlays with over 800 people partaking in them.

I'm curious as to why every single type of game is all crammed into one meeting, wouldn't it serve everyone better if there were 3-4 different meetings each with a different focus on game type (Tourney, Cash, Sng, etc.) as opposed to just one meeting for all the different game type tabs shown in the Pokerstars Lobby? You could then have 3-4 player reps go for each given game type which would lead to a much more accurate representation of the players.

Hopefully this is still open (Still the 21st in Canada!). I will post a more updated CV if chosen.

- Play both PLO and NL HU 2/4-25/50 as well as the bigger MTTs and occasionally 6max
- Reputable (Have over 300k worth of successful trades in the HSNL thread)
- Have made a couple Cardrunners videos
- Playing online for 8years
- I've attended a Pokerstars focus group before (focused more on player experiences). Through this I know that I can present my thoughts in a clear and concise matter and am vocal about what I believe is right or wrong.

Cheers,

Shane

I'm pretty happy to see omaha week, and I hope to see other such promotions for other games in the future.

There are a few things here I'd like to clarify.

The first is that there is a difference between having an overall policy of trying to push players into a certain game type and having individual promotions that only affect a subset of games.

We are not likely to pursue a policy of trying to manipulate players into participating in one particular game over others in the long run. I have heard players suggest that we should do this for their preferred game for many reasons, including that their game generates more rake and that it's easier for beginners to learn. Players should play THEIR OWN favorite games, not mine or yours.

We do think it makes sense to highlight each time of game for a short period of time in order to encourage interested players to try different game types. Perhaps that there are games that players like that they wouldn't otherwise try without a promotional nudge. Players in meetings have expressed that they like this idea and we agree. The first instance of this is Omaha week.

There was significant development effort required to support the happy hours portion of this promotion, both for tournament happy hours and for happy hours specific to game type. That's why it took 'so long' after the prior player meetings to put into place.

Regarding Limit hold'em promotions specifically, we did follow through on our committment during the player meetings. We committed to hold a SuperStar Showdown type match at LHE. We spent quite a lot of time trying to match players up, but in the end had to ask Daniel to play just to get a single match in because we couldn't find willing opponents otherwise. Even after the first match we were trying to find willing opponents for another one, but we were unable to do so.

If Omaha week is successful, you're likely to see similar weeks in the future featuring other games. Limit hold'em would be near or at the front of the line of other games to be promoted. It might well have been first, but the timing was right for an Omaha week due to the release of 5 Card Omaha and Courchevel. In any case, hopefully these promotions will go well and every game will get its turn.

This is the greatest thing iv'e heard on this forum.

Thank you Steve.

I'm planning to move to Europe to play on Pokerstars!

Looks like I can't partipate in the volunteer work for PS but I can put in my ideas now.

I think Pokerstars and Full Tilt should merge into 1 universal site, and call it PokerStars Universe or something.

I have talked to several of the top CG and MTT players on the sites and they say full tilt lobby is really bad and the mtts on tull tilt are weak, this is obvious.

When I ask about pokerstars they say it's perfect.

Hey everyone, I posted my CV.

If anyone has any questions, criticisms or comments, I'd be happy to answer them here.

Here are the cliffs from my CV:
  • I'm Oxota on Stars and have played a bunch of pretty much every NL game. The bulk of my play is at mid to high stakes.

  • The main principles I stand behind are:

    • non-predatory environment
    • sustainable games
    • making a fun environment for recreational players
    • increasing deposits
    • making PStars more user-friendly and less intimidating for the recreational player

  • I believe it's my duty to have general principles, but up to the community to recommend specifics. In this way my role is that of a representative, not someone who pushes their own specific ideas at the meeting.

  • I'm an objective, practical person, and grasp mathematical concepts well.

  • I am fully committed to being a representative, prepared to work hard and believe that I can make a real difference.

As a New Jersey resident who was a big fan of PS pre black Friday I would love to attend.

I have always been a low stakes player online a few steps above recreational but way below grinder. I was just starting to grind more before April 15, 2011. Since then I have played on a few different U.S. facing sites but ultimately stopped playing online many months ago as the negatives outweighed the positives imo.

I have lived in NJ all 23 years of my life and am a regular A.C. visitor. I believe I have a good grasp of what both the regs and the recreational players want to see in a related U.S. Market.

toke,

Part of the reason past meetings have been a joke is because (some) of the people that attended didn't take the meetings seriously and are there for the wrong reasons. I don't understand why people are so afraid of trying and when it became so cool to half-ass things. Getting real change requires actual effort, not going the the meeting to treat it like a vacation.

I would like to nominate myself to attend the april 2013 meetings as a rep focusing solely on (NL) cash games. A lot of people here I think will be familiar with my stances regarding Pokerstars' actions as of late, and I'm confident that unless a better volunteer from the cash games community steps up, I will receive a lot of backing from the SSNL community at the very least.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do not play on Pokerstars anymore (at least for the time being), the reasons mostly being the actions taken by Stars during the previous year and a bit as well as the blatant disregard and disrespect shown by Stars towards their paying customers both through their actions (or lack thereof) as well as through their communication (or lack thereof).

One of the biggest reasons I have decided to put myself forward as a volunteer is that I do not want another AWice situation to be on the cards.

A little about myself: I've been playing NLHE cash games for around 8 years now and currently play a mix of .5/1 to 2/4 FR and 6max as well as taking the random shot higher when games are good. I am certainly not a high volume player but in my involvement in the discussions on this subforum that started in 2012 when PS introduced WC, I've pretty much come to understand the points of view of most types of players be they low volume, high volume, bumhunters or 40 tablers that do no table selection whatsoever
