It also effected my echecks on FTP...150 dollars I deposited there obviously wasn't honored by my bank, when they rightfully tried to withdraw their money. So I was left with a balance to FTP as well.
So the point is it's possible to owe sites money with out cheating or malicious activity.
It isn't cheating or stealing if you pay them what you owe. If you don't pay what you owe then you are stealing.

It's pretty impressive to see you redefine 'malicious activity' to exclude writing bad checks and running up gambling debts through fraud.

If you want to play on the Merge network I would suggest either playing Carbon which is the most well known on Merge or Poker Nordica which is probably the 2nd most popular on the network.

is there a way to check out different sites popular games without having to download etc, table ratings is good to see what games are running but it only does like 5-6 sites, what about sites like betfair or pacific poker, Everest etc, say i want to know if 2/4nl full ring games run at these sites and how many tables, where can i find this out?

should i just make posts saying are there good FR games on such and such a site etc?, are there any good recent posts that cover this already? (anyone know) If there isn't anything specific, Is there a list of the most used sites anywhere online? and how many players on each site daily, like the top 20 sites or something.

i've got about 1k on 2 visa platinum gift cards and wanna put it online. i've got money in stars and carbon but want to diversify. FTP would be my obvious choice but I signed up without rakeback a couple of years ago.

any suggestions? I play low buyin mtts mostly and some 50nl. I am better than breakeven so I am interested in a decent sign up bonus and rakeback. plus decent mtt traffic after midnight est.

I apologize as this question has probably been asked a few times before, but I am new to the forums and read some of the FAQs but couldnt really find what I was looking for.

I am a US player that hasnt played online much, I used to dabble a little but that was before Party Poker kicked off US people.

I have been a brick and mortar player for about 8 years. I started on limit and then PL but had to learn NL as the trends shifted. I don't live close to B&M poker places anymore, so my question is which site should I play on??

Some caveats:

I am from Illinois, the legislation may be different

I am not trying to build a bankroll or use programs you guys talk about on this forum. I am just putting in about 50-100 dollars recreationally.

I care most: about stability, getting my money back if I make some, and maybe how soft the games are, although that is not a huge factor.

Thanks in advance.

Although they won't be the softest sites, you probably want to start at Stars and Full Tilt.

Make sure you signup for Stars with either a kickback bonus at a site like pokersource.com or pokersavvy.com, or at a site that runs freerolls like raketherake.com. There is no rakeback at Stars, so that's the best you're going to do there. They have a VIP program that is their equivalent to rakeback (not so much for low volume, but it works great for high volume), but it doesn't matter how you signup for that; everyone gets it.

Full Tilt signup is even more important - these forums are littered with people who can't get rakeback there and aren't real happy about it. Make sure you sign up for FT through a rakeback affiliate. Any of the ones who advertise here should be reliable. The RB % is capped and the signup bonus is the same, so the only financial difference is the "extras" they offer like freerolls, rake races, etc.

Make sure you start out at substantially lower stakes than you're used to playing at B&M casinos.

FTP used to have higher rake than stars for micro stakes. Maybe someone can comment on the current state of that. It is the same if you are playing 50NL or higher (maybe 25NL), but FTP rakeback is better if you are playing low volume.

First, feel free to lock/move this thread if it's in the wrong place...

I am depositing money on an online site, and stars/full tilt is not an option for me atm.

I've kind of narrowed it down to either betfair or cake, any suggestions what i should choose?

cake is soft and has good rakeback. Also Lee Jones just signed with cake so look for it to make some great improvements over the next few months.

The softer sites/networks are, in this order:
-Merge
-Bodog
-Cereus
-Cake

I'm not sure I'd call the last one soft though. That's also going roughly from smallest to largest (just reverse Cake/Cereus). It sounds like any of them would have enough traffic for you though. Cake does have a high minimum cashout, though I think others on its network don't. I think Merge and Cereus will both charge cashout fees on checks, but Bodog's free for the first of the month.

Best site for EU is currently William Hill, decent sign up bonus and good rakeback. Now part of I-Poker so has good traffic, supports PT3 etc and easy deposit / withdrawal and very trustworthy. Tried Betfair and although cash games relatively soft lack of traffic meant MTT's and SNG very limited, plus software very limited.

It's 6,7% for NL10 and below.

For someone used to playing B&M, I would suggest Cake. You don't have to worry about HUD's, competition is relatively soft and rakeback is great.
