How do you check sites' credibility? How do you check sites' credibility?

I'm a person who usually goes against the tide. I don't want to play for those big conglomerates anymore. The poker sites list is long. How do you check if a site is legitimate?

As a rebel you should try to find a site that is not legitimate, because that is how you will truly go against the tide and avoid the evil conglomerates where your funds are relatively safe.

You should be able to find threads of fringe rooms where you need to contact an agent to do transactions in an alley somewhere. The games are apparently very soft on those, so there is that. Just search the forums for agent rooms, and good luck on your revolutionary approach to becoming a poker freedom fighter.

All the best.

It seems like you're setting yourself up with potentially incompatible goals. What if the "big conglomerates" (however you qualify that) are the most credible/legitimate sites?

In general, it's good to check through existing site threads and/or subforums and see what kind of feedback they're generating. You will find negative feedback about every site, of course, so you'll want to really sift through and get a deeper understanding than a quick skim will give you. And before you do so, you might want to give some thought to what it is that you're looking for in a site, and what you think gives a site credibility/legitimacy.

I suggest you simply contact the site and ask them.

Sites that are legit will likely seek to contrast themselves with those that are not.

By credibility, I mainly assume that my funds are safe and I can take them back whenever I want. There were examples in the last years of poker sites which made problems with withdrawing the funds.
I agree that the biggest sites are the most credible. Thousands of users work as proof of trust which smaller sites can't give.
In some way, I want to support smaller sites same as for retail I choose smaller, local business. Pokerstars at some point got too high position so they could lower the Rakeback for players without high consequences.

Consumers vote with their wallet, so obviously PokerStars paid a steep price for cutting rakeback. Nobody plays there anymore!
