I also have a pack with another pro. If I die, he logs into all my poker accounts and cashes out everything for my wife (check method, "for deposit only" on back on check and since wife and I share a checking account she can access the money)

In exchange I'd do the same for him, but give all the money to his mom.

(yes I would trust him with 100% of my poker roll)
I regularly have my wife cash out for me so she knows how to do it. I also have a few contacts for her that can help her cash out if need be. She has the passwords etc.

If you die, and your beneficiaries provide appropriate proof, I know that PokerStars will comply with your wishes.

I am aware that some people have already registered their wishes with PokerStars.

Yes, of course the law applies to these sites. People have wills and die outside the USA too.

Dude, these are rogue sites.
No they're not. They all operate legally under the laws of the country they operate in.

They are under no obligations to comply with ANY legal authority as far as I'm concerned.
You're just plain wrong here, and I don't understand why your arbitrary decision about which legal authorities they obey has any meaning.
Quote:
*MAYBE* the isle of man. And god knows what kinda system they have.
They have a legal system and parliament that predates the USA's.

[QUOTE=vetiver;5950870I just wondered if either of the major sites have a policy on this as they're dealing with substantial amounts of money in individual accounts and at some point, if it hasn't already, the issue will arise.[/QUOTE]
If you're concerned about this, write to support@PokerStars.com and let them know what you want done with your money in the event of your death.

Please don't do this. Allowing other people to access your account for the purpose of withdrawing money is never going to end happily.

If you are concerned about this, I suggest that you include in your will/safety deposit box a reminder that your heirs should contact the poker site(s) concerned.

No, it is not great advice.

If you want it to go to your estate, then leave the locker combo to the executor of your estate, and all the funds will be withdrawn and sent to your estate. Hope this helps, sorry for acting lame, I'm young and full of legal knowledge. I apologize.
I don't think that advocating a breach of an agreement is great legal advice.

Wills (and the legal arrangements that go along with them) apply outside the USA, so there is no reason for jurisdiction to end at the shore.

No, just get them to contact support at the relevant site.

You are a complete 100% idiot. The "law" applies to these sites? ROFL, ROFL, ROFL.

Okay buddy, keep thinking that. Seriously, tell me, WHICH LAW APPLIES TO THESE SITES?

Im sure Afgani law also predated the USA's....AND?....AND?.....AND? SO WHAT? That means utterly nothing bub. You are saying if a legal system is in place longer than the USA's it is somehow more stable or legit? Are you out of your mind son? Guess so.

The Online Gambling Regulation Act 2001 as amended by the Gambling (Amendment) Act 2006

You said, "God knows what kinda system they have." I was answering the question implied in that statement. I am saying that the Isle of Man - a stable, mature, western, liberal, democratic country with an elected parliament and an independent judiciary - has a credible legal system.

I don't understand why you find this surprising. The USA didn't invent the concept of an independent judiciary, and those of us who live elsewhere also get to enjoy the benefits of the rule of law. It's not something unique to the USA.

Also, as an aside, while I note that you apparently feel passionately about this issue, some of your rhetoric in here isn't necessary. Let's have a mature discussion without the personal abuse.

You work for pokerstars, it is in your best interest to imply that there is some type of governing authority that pokerstars has to answer to.

In reality, the isle of man is garbage, no power, no legal standing in the world. You found a small gov't to operate in so you could CLAIM that you are following their rules, when in reality THEY HAVE NO RULES, AND IF THEY DO, THEY ARE TOO SMALL TO ENFORCE THEM.

Get lost

It is also the truth.

This is just not true. It is a country with its own parliament and laws. People resolve disputes according to them, as https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=248101 demonstrated.

Of course they have rules, and of course they enforce them. Your claim that there are no laws there is fundamentally absurd, and simply offensive in its arrogance.

They may have laws. Sure. Just like Iraq has laws right? ....Just because a state has laws doesn't mean they have POWER to enforce them. Don't be such a donkey man.

You chose the isle of man because of it's lax regulating authority, inability to collect taxes and enforce judgements.

Name a United States company doing business around the world that resolves disputes @ the isle of man. (hint: NONE)

Get REAL man. I'm not some uneducated redneck bible humping scum, you can't try and "fool" me. I know EXACTLY what you're doing and WHY you do it.
