Site payouts after death

Some online pros have 50% or more of their net worth in online poker accounts. If you die and leave a will saying "all of my assets go to xyz", could xyz just send FTP or Stars your death certificate and proof that they are your beneficiary? Or are your funds locked up forever? Interested to see if sites have a policy on this and whether they've ever been exercised.

ROFL, you're such an idiot. "Beneficiary"? you think people's last will and testaments apply to online poker accounts? ...........ROFL. Dude, these are rogue sites. They are under no obligations to comply with ANY legal authority as far as I'm concerned. *MAYBE* the isle of man. And god knows what kinda system they have.

Don't be so foolish.

BTW play on full tilt poker! It's a great website you should play .5/1 NL 6 max okay? Thanks! Good luck!

Re: Site payouts after death

Just last week I died. Luckily my wife had the brains to just withdrawal my cash with the username/passwords/details I left for her.

I did suggest in my will she short stack nose bleeds PLO.

Nothing in my OP assumes these sites will comply out of legal necessity. For all I know they just let your money sit there forever until they can eat it up. I just wondered if either of the major sites have a policy on this as they're dealing with substantial amounts of money in individual accounts and at some point, if it hasn't already, the issue will arise.

I do like Hamish's post.

I would suggest maybe keeping your passwords in a very safe spot (maybe like safety deposit box?) so If something were to happen your beneficiarys would be able to withdraw all the money and have possession of it.

This is great advice. Think of your poker account as a private locker with money in it. When you die, you'd want someone to have the combo to the locker right? Boom, put it in your last will and testament.

If you want it to go to your estate, then leave the locker combo to the executor of your estate, and all the funds will be withdrawn and sent to your estate. Hope this helps, sorry for acting lame, I'm young and full of legal knowledge. I apologize.

Btw now that I'm posting, everyone who is on Noah's nuts, about getting top 10% in law school, all I gotta do is LOL at this moron.

Noah, I have 10x more legal know how than you'll ever have, EVER. GG NO RE

BTW i own you in poker as well.

Re: Site payouts after death

My will clearly states that my wife gets my poker monies...(yes I know there is no jursidiction, but I'm 100% sure stars will be "cool enough" to send my wife my money after proof of my death....say death certificate and copy of obituary)

I also have a pack with another pro. If I die, he logs into all my poker accounts and cashes out everything for my wife (check method, "for deposit only" on back on check and since wife and I share a checking account she can access the money)

In exchange I'd do the same for him, but give all the money to his mom.

(yes I would trust him with 100% of my poker roll)

Sigh, you didn't listen to me did you my edonkaclious? You MUST edit your last will and testament and include your username/password. Make sense? This way your account will be accessible to your wife in the event of your demise. Why do I even offer free legal advice to you muppets? Sigh

Please stop offering advice of any sort to us muppets.

Re: Site payouts after death

If you expect your wife or your best friend pro poker player to withdraw all of your poker money after you die, I suggest that they do it from the same computer and internet provider that you normally use. Otherwise the site might lock the account, ask questions, and then find out that someone other than the register owner of the account is trying to withdraw the money. Zany antics would rapidly ensue.

You're young alright. You're also ****ing stupid. Grow a brain then come back here and insult these good people if you wish. Or don't. Either way, grow up a little and realise that you're an idiot before posting again. That way you won't come across as so ridiculous.

Exactly how was that post ****ing stupid? Please back up your comments with just a tiny bit of logic or rationale. Your naked accusations are worthless without them.

My pleasure, your myspace page claims that you are 22 years old, thus I can assume you only hold a B.A. or a B.S. in which case you have no education (hardly one worth noting) or, in the alternative, you have no degree, thus you are uneducated...relatively speaking of course.

Given these facts, you are either a working at mcdonalds or the equivalent and thus making no money. ($10 dollars an hour isn't alot btw.) ($20 doesn't cut it either) ($50? Still not enough donkey n00b)

OR

You are trying to be an "online pro" in which case I challenge you to a HU NL match where I will proceed to own you because you're a pathetic degenerate muppet.

Your honor, I believe the above firmly establishes that our resident edonk here is in fact a muppet. I rest my case
