For any 2+2-ers still at the Rio; we are here until Saturday at the QuadJacks booth in the hall between the Poker Kitchen and Brasilia - meeting players in person and answering questions about moving abroad for online poker.

Re: *** Poker Refugees / OFFICIAL Player Relocation Thread ***

Is it possible to get set up to play in Mexico on Pokerstars, etc and not move there permanently?

Example: I want to be able to fly into Mexico 4-5 times per year, rent a place and stay for 3 to 20 days at a time, play poker and then return to the US

Hi there; for some reason we stopped receiving notifications about responses to this thread. Sorry for the delay!

Yes we can definitely still help you. We can discount the full relocation fee or help with any individual services you need. Please email kristin@pokerrefugees.com or PM and we can discuss details.

I think we have spoken already; is this Jeff?

Players should comply with the requirements of each poker site to reactivate the account initially. This usually means showing proof of a 3-month lease, utility bill in your name and/or offshore bank account. After that, many players move around the world to play online poker from various countries.

When traveling in the US, of course it goes without saying one would never want to login from there or ever from an IP as that is against the policies of most online pokersites, especially Stars and FTP.

Yes; we do have players moving to various countries each month including Malta and we frequently match poker roommates together.

Please send us a PM with your email or send a message to kristin@pokerrefugees.com and we can see who is going there at the same time and if your itineraries, budgets etc are compatible.

We've never done a relocation there but sounds like an interesting destination. For some countries, we have local contacts there, speak the language and can help with a variety of services.

For Nepal specifically, none of us have ever been there so we'd have to look into the complexity of moving there, finding a rental property and see what services we can realistically provide.

Are you already playing online from a different country?

I am not yet playing online as I'm in Texas but I do look to go somewhere abroad to where I can play before long.

I have a close friend I met in Dfw who is from Kathmandu, Nepal, so I will have a very reliable contact there.

I know they've had issues with Internet connections in a lot of places but it's my understanding that some areas in Kathmandu probably have improved their internet connectivity to the extent that they're reliable now. Of course even Kathmandu is known for occasional power failures. I figured that was only in certain places of the city if it's still going on though.

I'd really like to be able to play online poker in countries that I think would be good locations for travel blogging and travel writing. Nepal is the perfect place to get started in that field as far my skills go. I could only stay there for limited time but I have no problem going from one place to another.

Your friend from Kathmandu wouldn't happen to be named Ram and is taking classes at EL Centro?

Definitely sounds like an interesting place to blog and play from! We can help you get set up with internet sites but at this time have no knowledge or internet, infrastructure or the rental market. That can always change however, as we are frequently doing custom research projects for clients. This week, we studied the poker climate/internet infrastructure/banking/visa info for a player headed to St. Kitts & Nevis and then visa info in Latin American countries for Russian players.

Let us know if you do want help and you can always email us at info@pokerrefugees.com to coordinate any service. We start working with players usually a few months before their arrival dates.

Is this William? I was traveling all day/night yesterday but sent an email with the the package info and Mexico budget outline this afternoon. Please confirm receipt? I think we may be in your junk mail and vice versa because the last email correspondence we have with you is dated March 18, 2013.

If I move to Costa Rica, live there awhile then want to go somewhere else. Can I legally play online at PokerStars no matter where I am as long as i'm not in the US? And so long as my Costa Rican bank account I would still have even though I may not live there is in good standing?

I ask because there's a lot of places I may want to go but it seems like everywhere has a limit to how long you can inhabit there. I want to go to Europe but since I can only stay there a limited time, I figured it's best to go for a stint in CR first, and then visit places you can only stay in for 3-6 months.

Email was received Friday evening; seen and responded to today.

Sorry for the delay; sometimes initial inquires from the contact form and our responses to that form go to the junk mail. We encourage everyone to put us on their safe list and do the same with each person who contacts us.

Yes; this is the reality for players who want to live abroad but not necessarily obtain permanent legal residence in any country just yet. It's natural to want to spend time in a country(ies) before committing to living there long-term.

For example, we set up some players in Costa Rica back in 2011. Since then, they have lived in Panama, Mexico, Guatemala and South Korea. Some of our clients started in Mexico then moved to Thailand and vice versa. Some spend summers in Europe or Canada and winters in South America.

In most countries, US citizens can travel on a passport for 1-6 months at a time, or 3 months + apply for an extension or renew. Some people become "perpetual tourists" in countries where you can renew every X # of months.

With modern online banking capabilities, you can manage your finances from anywhere in the world (as long as it's not the US or somewhere that online poker is illegal or blocked of course). Getting a Net+ card or Skrill debit card in countries where it is offered are other options for managing your funds worldwide.

Long story short, yes you can do this sort of "country hopping" and it's become commonplace amongst poker players, sports bettors and other online professionals such as graphic designers or online consultants. This year in 2013 I myself have temporarily "lived" in Costa Rica, both sides of Mexico and Canada so far, next will be in the EU. As long as you are abiding with local immigration laws and policies in each country, should be fine.

Re: *** Poker Refugees / OFFICIAL Player Relocation Thread ***

In our effort to continually provide novel services that are valuable and useful to online poker players worldwide, we're excited to announce a special, new service to help players open Neteller accounts.

This is ideal for players who:
  • Live outside the US & Canada
  • Had a Neteller account years ago but it was closed for whatever reason
  • Have not been able to get verified by Neteller since relocating offshore
  • Would benefit from a Net+ debit card to instantly access online funds
  • Have maxed out their Skrill limits or want additional cash-out/deposit options and flexibility
  • Want VIP Status without the hassle of notarizing documents

Even if you are American living abroad and had trouble opening an account in the past, we now have a way to approve US players (living outside the US) quickly and through a unique process.

Included in the Poker Refugees Service:
  • Open your account in less steps
  • Automatic Silver VIP Status http://www.neteller.com/vip
  • Special dedicated customer service executives for "Poker Refugees"
  • Transfer limits of up to $400k/mo
  • Net+ Debit Card & Virtual Card that can be used anywhere in the world, including the US (We can FedEx it to you if you live in a 3rd world country with poor mail service) http://www.neteller.com/personal/get-a-prepaid-card/
  • No foreign bank account needed to verify your account and use the Net+ Debit Card
  • Immediate access to your funds when you don't feel like waiting on a wire/bank transfer
  • More options to Upload funds and Cash out http://www.neteller.com/fees/

Accounts are usually verified within 1-2 business days.

PM us for instructions to sign up or email your request to vip@pokerrefugees.com
