Should I go for laptop or desktop? Should I go for laptop or desktop?

Hi guys,

I can play 7-8 tables at a time... so for this kind of multi-tabling requirement I should go for a laptop or desktop?

I'm pretty confused, I'm told today's modern day 4k resolution display laptops can do what once the desktops could do for such kind of multi-tabling requirement in the past!

Some have even suggested me that investing in a 4k resolution display would a waste of money as FHD display (1080p) is sufficient for this type of multi-tabling!!

So I request to folks who do multi-tabling on lappy to please help/guide me on this.

PS: My budget is around 1200 USD.

Thanks and regards

I have always preferred using laptops.

A 1080p display is fine for 4 tables on almost every site out there. I always paired each laptop with a larger display hooked up to the external display port (they are all HDMI these days).

A 27+ inch 4k display is also good for multi-tabling and shouldn't be terribly expensive. I use a 30inch 4k display now. I keep the lobbies on the laptop screen and the tables on the 30 incher.

If you can wait for shopping holidays, you can get really good deals on displays (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc etc).

Actually I also have developed back issues recently, hence I'm more inclined towards laptop. My desktop display has gone kaput and I'm now thinking of buying a laptop which can easily take 7-8 windows.

Do you think a 15 inch laptop with 4k resolution display can do that easily?

Thanks

Ya I have a 15 inch, however you're drawing dead if you don't connect your laptop to a monitor. The experience is infinitely better with two screens. You're able to chat or pull up the lobby or internet etc on one screen and not get in the way of your tables. Also get a mouse.

For $1200 you can get a pretty great laptop. Get as much RAM as possible, 12 minimum but ideally 16+. Use this laptop predominantly just for playing poker and running PT4/Hm2, and then use a different computer if theres other things outside of internet/email that you use a comp for.

I may be the minority here but I can't stand playing on a laptop. For one table it's not that bad but if you are playing 6 or more I don't know how anyone manages it. If you are shrinking down tables or cascading them it is impossible to catch any of what is happening when you are not directly involved in a hand.

playing on only a laptop blows. But plugging a monitor into the hdmi makes it nutted
