I'll be in Europe next month and was thinking the same, but how would you cash out with a US address?

Hello, first of all I'm not sure whether or not this is the correct sub-forum to post this question, but then again not sure where else it'd "fit". Anyhow, I'm not sure of how to deposit funds in my PokerStars account following capital control measures (I'm Greek, don't have foreign credit cards). Didn't have this issue before since capital control didn't exist, so I'm also currently setting up Skrill and Netellers (haven't tried a deposit with either yet), do any of these actually work (in terms of getting my deposit through)? Don't wanna have to wait for verification just to find out the deposit doesn't go through.

Given Capital Control restrictions it has become increasingly difficult for Greek Players to deposit. Moreso if you're a US citizen in Europe attempting to deposit on a Poker Site.

This brings about the memory and irony of my capstone projects where I theorized the exponential jump in virtual world leading to a stall in globalization efforts and an emergence of regionalization.

Anyway...

Any US players in Greece or Greek players able to get funding in PS or FT?

Issues I've run in:

Generally PS doesn't accept Paysafe from Greek receipt vendors now.
So attempted Paysafe through Skrill: Denied by Paysafe or Skrill, couldn't tell.

Purchased online VISA GC - Denied as US (Gambling Restriction)

Started Entropay considering it was UK - Denied as US (Gambling Resistriction) I was assured on other forums that this would be the easiest way yet it failed.

Attempted Neteller (Denied as current valid Passport and ID do not match current residency which is Greece)

US citizen in Greece (Why would the IDs match Neteller...)

the neteller problem makes no sense. they offer services to tons of americans using u.s passports living in other countries. you need to have bills in your name in said other countries though

like if you have bank invoice in greece listing your address+cable or telephone bill at same should be no issues.

Paddy is also available , and legal for Greek residents.

Officially, 888 is not legal in Greece and therefore banned. But the poker client can be opened using a Greek IP. (888 web pages are all banned and can't be accessed). If you already have an 888 account i think you will be able to play, but it's better to confirm it with their support.

Any idea if poker clients can be opened from Greece if you already have an account set up?

Is it the same for Microgaming and other networks as 888? IE can you access your accounts while on holidays in Greece?

In the uk there is no tax on poker income.

Are people in spain, ( the canary islands to be precise) subject to tax on poker profits and if so how much is it?

if this is in wrong place sorry wasnt sure where to post it.

If the vips are lowered or the rake is higher, all players pay taxes. The winners in spain pay additionally full income tax, that in my opinion should be covered already, in a game like poker. Spain is not a good place for an online poker player, also because they are segregated. Live poker is somewhat a different story.

I mean tax on poker earnings not rake etc. So you have to pay the spanish government income on poker earnings? What percentage? Is this flat rate or on a sliding scale/bracketed?

also im not sure canary islands are the same for tax purposes to main land spain as i know the rules differ regarding duty free.

Hello all,

IŽm really hoping that you can offer some advice. I was, until a couple of weeks ago, based in the UK and playing regularly on pokerstars. IŽve just moved to Spain to accompany the gf for work purposes and 2 days ago tried to log in and play... and lo and behold, I canŽt. Now after reading extensively all the info I can find on google it appears that a law brought in by the Spanish government in 2012 means that Spain-based players can only play against each other and that my UK account is not viable here. This is, to put it mildly, a big problem and IŽm really kicking myself. According to pokerstars I will need to play on pokerstars.es, but to do this I will need to be a resident (NIE number which I don't have) or Spanish national.

Another big issue which has arisen is the tax laws regarding online poker. There is a lot of often conflicting information. Some says that you need to pay tax on everything and some says only above a certain amount (2,500 euros tournament win etc). Now, I need to try and find a solution.

So, I basically have three questions:

1) Are there any sites I can play on from Spain which will allow me to access the international pool of players?

2) If not, are there any sites I can play on without having to be a permanent resident or Spanish national? As I don't have a Spanish bank account so will need to do it with the British account or paypal.

3) Can someone clarify the tax laws regarding this? Do you really need to pay tax on hands won?!?

As you can probably tell this is a bit of a desperate situation, so any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks.

1) No. Need at least NIE. If you're working or studying, it shouldn't be too hard if you speak spanish (although tedious).
2) No.
3) AFAIK, it's some percentage above some level of winnings (not sure the amount or percentage), but not entirely sure either. That was just what I was told when I lived in BCN.

Bump need the answer to point 3 as i play mtsng and mtt's i could go back to stt if this would help me not pay tax. I really need the actual amount over which I would have to pay tax. As i understand it i could play cash and pay no tax but if i was to play mtsng i could be down 10k win an 8k tournament and have to pay tax on the winnings. Surely this cant be right?

My partner keeps mentioning a move to the canary islands but i dream of poker being my soul sauce of income.

It's a topic about which you should probably obtain professional advice, rather than relying on posts in an anonymous poker forum, but you could try searching in http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57...ted-rich-muny/, (to find, for instance, http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57...spain-1308363/), and maybe in http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...wo-en-espanol/.

Hey guys,

a couple of friends of mine (all fulltime pokerplayers) are currently looking for a Grindhouse in a nice European country.
Right now our fovourite would be Greece. Does anybody know about online gambling regulations in Greece?
We need access on Pokerstars, Partypoker and Winamax.
Do you know if that is possible in Greece and if there are any additional taxes on Pokerwinnings if you play from Greece (even if you are not a greek Citizen or Resident)?

IŽd appreciate some help

Cheerz!
