this is the second time the same guy is still using my name to scam people
i hate seeing my reputation going through the mud

i just had someone tell me that i was a scammer becuase they searched my name and read the previous post and no farther...
so why woudl they trade with me lol?

Dpechbnkn(exact spelling) is the guy who quoted me .60 on the $1 to buy my Lock fwiw.

I came here to ask about how I can find a buyer for a preferred payment of GDMP. I've been searching the Gift Card section in the marketplace but am not seeing any buyers besides Dpech and an unresponsive Plainestman. I saw some MP approved 2+2 member's claiming you can still find a buyer at .75 all day, true? Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks.

Haha oops I forgot the 1st e but was intended, checked his name and my pm history, still misspelled it and labeled it exact. Typos happen, i'm more concerned when actually trading but only do negotiations thru pm's from clicking on op's anyways so my dumbass is somewhat safe. Also only called him out for being a rip off(not saying scammer) because I posted in here a few days ago double checking that the going rate for Lock wasn't even crazier and pointless these days.

Did he pm u from his 2p2 account or contact you off site? You should elaborate more on what happened. Its unlikely(but possible) that guy would scam you after doing many trades on here. Although I didnt look to see who he traded with in the past.

I am utterly confused here...

How can someone be masquerading as someone else here on 2+2? If you're dealing with PM's and they are coming from the real person's account...is the scammer hacking into his 2+2 account and sending PM's? I only ask because I got a PM from depechbnkn similar to the one StunTKAwQ mentioned above, but it was in response to a PM I sent to him because I knew he bought Lock. I figured it was from the real McCoy (pretty sure it was).

If someone could break this down like I'm a six year old, I'd appreciate it...

If you're asking me cause I said Imposter. I meant the scammers who change a letter in a name or use a zero instead of an 0...that type of thing. It has worked on people here in the past.

ok, that sux. I saw you only had a few posts + you put the email in, thought he might have contacted you off site. Most scammers don't have that many successful trades. Contact the site if you havent already, also pm the rep on here.

A lot of the time, it's because people are foolish enough to respond to emails sent through the site. Someone uses a name similar to an existing one, and the sucker doesn't pay close attention. Or the sucker puts their Skype name or email address out there and is contacted directly by someone who says they are poster XYZ on 2+2, look at all my references, etc. Sucker checks the references, but never bothers to check and be sure the person they are talking to really is poster XYZ.

Right, here's a good example. And seeing as he goes on to say "any buyers besides Dpech", I'm still not sure if he realizes he was contacted by a scammer.

Edit to add: Or maybe he wasn't contacted by a scammer, since there is no Dpechbnkn on 2+2. LOL if he said "exact spelling" and spelled it wrong. You guys really have to be careful with these screen names, especially when they're names like this that aren't normal words/names.

Are people really that lax in dealing with P2P trading? Good Lord...if someone is dealing with me and they aren't sending first, you better believe I'm going to research the hell out of them regardless of post count or "references". Who really cares about references anyway? Look at their posting history, search the forums, or go back and read the thread to see if they are legit.

Again...why are people trading outside of the forums? It says clearly in the P2P thread's oringinal post to conduct your dealings through PM'ing. And then the ones who get scammed don't even have the ability to determine they were scammed by someone representing as if they were a reputable trader?

Not saying all forms of scammery are avoidable. But this seems like it's people who are taking people solely for their word. Word, like trust, should be earned. But then, we live in a society that wants it all now without doing the work involved to get there...so why should I be surprised?

Yea i'm not sure why I've avoided checking that thread, didn't know it was a big free 4 all for buyers and sellers, and had just used Gift card section of MP before a few times. Pretty dumb question it seems now, thanks.

There is no such player as lohiini on Intertops.

To have discovered this, you could have tried a "test" p2p transaction. You would have needed the SN and the last name from the player, then entered those in Intertops' p2p option. If the nickname and/or last name were incorrect, the system would tell you. If both were correct the transaction would be viable but could be cancelled.

However, for future reference, and one of the major recommendations that is given repeatedly, you should always ask a site-to-site trader to sit and chat with you on both sites to prove to each other that you have the relevant funds involved. (If he says his chat is banned on "his" site, but is playing in a game you can watch, it's usually because he is impersonating a regular player he has seen that never chats at the tables.)

To trade on Intertops, you actually need the trader's username, which is not necessarily the same as the trader's screenname, although it can be the same. Everyone on Intertops has both a username and a screenname. When you first sign up on the site, you pick a username and then subsequent to that you pick a screenname which is used on the tables.
