All

This is a subsidiary thread to the dedicated Person to Person Transfers Thread in the Internet Poker Forum. You should still read the first post, (OP, or Opening Post), of the main thread for its rules of posting and tips and suggestions for safer trading.

If you have any general questions or comments about trading, after having read the OP, please ask them here, as they are usually deleted from the main thread to try to keep it for transfer requests and confirmations, only.

Any trading requests made in this thread will be deleted, and infraction points will be imposed.

As, (or if), this thread develops, the moderators may add relevant rules to maintain its value, so please reread this post from time to time.

Thank you.

Just a quick question - Can MoneyPaks be reloaded online (or at Walgreen's) onto the same card? Just trying to avoid the $4.95. I have no shame..

"How much does a MoneyPak cost?
MoneyPak costs $4.95 or less. There are no hidden fees or charges. Just purchase your MoneyPak, use cash to fund it and you’re ready to go.

Is the MoneyPak reloadable?
No. Once the MoneyPak has been used it cannot be loaded again. Please purchase a new MoneyPak from one of our retailer locations."

Hello all.

I've been looking into maybe doing this, but reading through old posts ITT, it seems like every fourth poster has been banned. What's worse, all of them offered to transfer first.

So I'm wondering what has been happening in these deals?

Could some of you who have been scammed explain the circumstances?
Did the scammer really transfer first?
If the poker site seized the money later, how long after the transfer did it happen?
Did you try to get it back from the room, and what did they say/do?

I'm especially interested in Cake, and although I am not asking for or offering any deal, my sn is Dr,Horrible (new acct. no deposit yet).

thanks guys

re fraudulent funding of poker accounts

When you steal/scam the money time is of the essence. You have no idea when the fraudulent funds will be detected. So you try to get rid of it to somebody else in exchange for clean money before the site catches on.

That's a common way anyway but there are other strategies too of course.

The sites are very much to blame in this for allowing individuals to play/transfer the funds without any kind of delay to wait for them to clear. But the incentive to get the players to the tables makes up for the amount of times they get ripped off. They understand full well that some of the people depositing on e-checks will not have the money in their account and will rip them off.

I'm asking for details from players who have actually been scammed, I understand in general how it happens, and I have already read the above. I want specifics so that I can figure out if there is a safer way to do this.

The safest way is to read the OP and all the links that show you how to trade such as this http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ostcount=90635 this http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...tml#post163472 and this http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ostcount=78591 This is as specific as can possibly be, and if you're not confident in what you're doing after reading all them then don't trade.

If you look at Rainbows list of recent scams http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...l#post27366984 you'll see that the main reason that most people lost money in this thread was: because they are complete morons. No research, no clue, just gave their money to complete strangers without thinking at all. So it's really not that hard to do a decent trade.

If you follow the tips in those threads then the only way you're going to be ripped off is if someone with the funds and a trade history here decides to scam you, which is unavoidable.

Why do we not allow any Paypal trades to be effected?

"PayPal Acceptable Use Policy

Prohibited Activities

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:

6. involve gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize, including, but not limited to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery tickets, other ventures that facilitate gambling, games of skill (whether or not it is legally defined as a lottery) and sweepstakes unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal and the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are permitted by law."

https://cms.paypal.com/ie/cgi-bin/?c...locale.x=en_GB

Legitimate Paypal users have 45 days to "Open a Dispute" to try to obtain a refund in the event of their not receiving goods, etc. Whilst it is not set in stone, as far as I can see, that a scammer would be able to reverse a transfer for gambling purposes, for up to 45 days after a transfer, it seems likely that this is a possibility, and the recipient would probably have his Paypal account closed for being an accessory.

Hence, we will not condone any transactions involving Paypal.

Just a few reminders for those of you who haven't read the OP of the Player to Player transfers thread as well as some of my own tidbits:

1. Low post count users who just opened accounts and only post in the p2p transfers thread should be dealt with caution. Same goes for poker site names, with very little to no activity on them.

2. Always research who you are trading with even if they say "Have trades in this thread" Check to see what trades, how much, when, who sent first, networks, all relevant SNs etc.

3. If an account (2p2 or poker) has been inactive for quite some time and suddenly appears in the p2p transfers thread looking to trade, proceed with caution and do not hesitate to question said trader.

4. If you decide to transfer and feel safe with another poster to do so, don't be ashamed to trade in incriments even if it takes sometime to complete. Remember, better safe than sorry.

5. There are many tools out there to check the credibility of a poker name: Sharkscope, Official Poker Rankings, Poker Table Ratings to name a few will show detailed results for said usernames and should always be used when trading with someone, consider it a background check.

6. Avoid making trades offsite. All transfers with posters should be dealt with in the appropriate player to player transfers thread. Posters suggesting AIM, Skype, Yahoo etc to converse and trade as apposed to 2p2 should be avoided.

7. Don't worry about making a speedy transfer, ask as many questions you feel the need to secure yourself with before proceeding to transfer funds. Do not feel out of place asking for references or links to succesful trades in the thread already for verification.

8. If a poster has a checkered past either on here or another online forum for whatever reason, always proceed with caution. Do not hesitate to ask questions regarding their reputation.

9. Feel free to cross check a posters poker name, with either 2p2 or other online forums if different from their forum name. It's common for a scammer to have been banned using their poker name as a username or similar at one point and are now using a different alias.

10. Always remember If a trade looks to good, it probably is. No one is here to give money away, so don't fall for it.

*

Edit/MH: 11. Ask your prospective trading partner to sit with you on the relevant sites' tables to verify they have the funds available and that they own the screennames, by chatting with you. If they say their chat is banned, (a scammer's common line when they know the player they are impersonating doesn't chat), do not trade, and post the facts in this thread.

the moderator 'steps' to avoid scammers are REALLY REALLY good. when i was new to the marketplace, my FIRST transaction involved a scammer. luckily i read the mods' recommendations to avoid being scammed and i quickly realized this person was trying to scam me. (note: this scammer was pretty smart, and i had to take various steps recommended by the mods to confirm he was unreliable)

seriously, the mods are the most updated on scamming methods, and they are quick to provide procedures to avoid scammers.

getting one member's scam experience is much less helpful. there are several ways to scam people, so simply relying on a few members is not nearly the best way to know how to conduct business safetly in the marketplace.

If it's anything to do with Amazon credits it belong in the Amazon/ Gift Card/ Site Points section. I haven't seen Amazon credits in the p2p transfers thread, thats just for site money and payment methods (i.e. Bank transfer, Mbookers, Money Packs)

not 100% sure, but I would go back to the forums ('internet poker' for example) and then scroll to the bottom of the page where they list the specific forum moderators. click on those mods until you find one of them online (green dot next to thier name)

I understand that scammers can screw you over via PayPal. But why not allow reputable and people with a fair amount of references to swap via Paypal?
I have done a few swaps with people on paypal and never been screwed that way. You just should know who you dealing with. Imo it can't hurt if two reputable traders will trade via PayPal.

What I am trying to say is why not make it possible for reputable traders to swap via PayPal?

If the Amazon "payment" is an Amazon account-to-account transfer, it is allowed in th p2p thread.
Much like Netspend and bank account transfers are allowed.

Gift Cards, as such, go to the GC subforum in the Marketplace.

However, a multi-option post can include a gift card.

Such as

Have Anypokersite
Want Netspend, bank transfer or any gift card.

is allowed.

No, sorry. Apart from the scam possibilities, we are not going to condone something that is strictly against the company's T&C.

Yes, Amazon Payments is an account-to-account transfer. It is entirely different from giftcards. I explained what it is in my post in the p2p thread just in case someone misunderstood it for a giftcard and penalized me.
