Simplest explanation usually the correct one...
Care to prop bet?

EDIT: DOH, I just noticed the # of poasts 5ibtgeturn has. Obvious sock puppet trolling account. My bad. BTW, I'm still willing to buy your Stars $$ for 0.65 on the dollar.

Some banks do allow it, and some banks have gone from prohibiting to allowing it. However, some have never allowed from a debit card.

I get the feeling that they expect this issue to only be temporary.

Maybe its just wishful thinking. I hadnt deposited for a few weeks:

Dear XXXXXXX,

We have been informed that the following deposit could not be processed:

Reference Number : 24*******
Amount: $100.00
Date: 2009/06/03
Reason: BANK PROBLEMS

These funds were credited to your PokerStars account when you made your deposit
request however due to a processing problem the transaction was never sent to
your bank. As we didn't receive funds for this deposit, the amount of your
unprocessed deposit has been deducted from your PokerStars account balance.

Please note that future eCheck deposits will not be affected by this return.
Your eCheck deposits will continue to be credited to your PokerStars account
balance as they did prior to receiving this return notification.

* If your PokerStars balance is less than $0.00:

If your current balance is less than $0.00, this means that you did not have
sufficient funds available in your PokerStars account to repay the amount of
your unprocessed deposit. All you have to do to complete repayment is make a
deposit for the total amount owing. Your next deposit will automatically be
applied toward your negative balance.

You may use any of the deposit options in the PokerStars Cashier to repay any
funds still owing, including the eCheck option.

Transfers received from other players will also be applied towards any negative
balance you have as well.

* Automatic re-presentment of your transaction to your bank if your balance is
less than $0.00:

Since now you have a negative balance, you have to make a deposit through the
Cashier or receive a transfer to bring your balance into a positive by
2009/06/13.

If this is not done, we will automatically re-present the total amount of your
deposit to your bank
. Please make sure there are enough funds in your bank
account to ensure that the re-submitted charge will be successful.

The re-submitted charge can take up to 5 business days to be debited from your
bank account.

If the funds are not available in your bank account to honor the re-submitted
charge, we will re-submit this charge once more on approximately the first or
the 15th of the month (whichever is sooner).

We apologize for the inconveniences this may have caused you.

If you have any questions, please email us at "PokerStars Support"
<support@pokerstars.com>

Regards,

PokerStars Payments Department

So they are essentially saying that they ARE going to use an eCheck transaction to takeout money in the coming days/weeks that they couldn't because of the issue. So it gives me hope at least.

i'm still waiting for my 5 / 30 echeck and stars support is ignoring me. its so frustrating knowing that it isn't going to come. they should put the money back in my account right now or send me a check. full tilt and cereus have acted way better and faster than stars which i why i'm thinking of mainly playing full tilt and ub from now on. ub already has echecks up and working again

no point in pounding them with emails. They're obviously dealing with heavy volume as it is. I'm in the same boat as you, we were promised answers by end of day monday, so let them stall till the end of that time frame. If you have no answer by tomorrow night then feel free to email and be upset.

I too have a hard time believe that the NY DA is going to take the suggested action.

Do you have any idea what bullet number 4 means? What is a stars-esque company that will cover the money that was frozen. Idk, im confused.

It is, but that's all we really have to go by right now (until Monday).

This whole thing could play out so many different ways...but I'm kind of glad that the DoJ is finally basically forcing the poker community to take action.

It has been suggested that this is actually a sign of weakness from the DoJ, showing that they fear the momentum that online gambling has gained with the new Congressional make-up and the recent legislation that was introduced (which isn't even out of committee yet). But that's just one viewpoint of many.

Some of the details seem a little off. The NY DA seems odd. The fact that they are only mentioning Stars when we know that this has affected multiple sites and the fact that they say money has been credited back to online accounts when Stars hasn't done so yet seems off.

Seems likely the DOJ is involved though. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.

I had a 4k check bounce and 2500 echeck stuck in limbo all resulting in an overdrafted checking account.

Living on credit cards is something I really didn't want to do (I suck at paying bills)

Why on Earth would the DOJ care? If poker transactions are legal that's one less thing for them to worry about.
