Yeah I hadn't played on party in a while but the post above rules that out.
Was just wondering if it was legit because I didn't see anyone else talking about it. Cheers guys

The SNG rake at PartyPoker seems generally insane -- this has got to be worst in the industry, right?

In no particular order:
  • $5+1 for ordinary one-table SNGs (20% rake!)
  • $0.8+0.2 for lowest buy-in SNGs (25%, jeez!)
  • no difference in rake between turbo and normal speed
  • no lower rake for 6-max
  • heads-up is slightly lower, but still horrible ($5.5+.5, $10.25+.75, etc)
  • no difference in rake between Double or Nothings ($100+9!) and ordinary payout structure

It's nice that rake at the high-stakes SNGs are capped at $10, sure, but nobody seems to be playing them (at the moment, no SNGs at $100 and up are running, nor are anyone even registered at them). The multi-table SNGs doesn't seem to run at all, either -- even the low-stakes ones hardly ever fills.

I don't get it -- are they trying to make their SNGs look as bad as possible? Are they really making so much at those extra $0.10s rake at the $1 SNGs to cover the rest of their SNG business being run into the ground?

Re: PartyPoker October Release

I got a problem with the dealer chat:
I turned on "Dealer actions(With chat)" but it only says the flop turn river and the hands result but not the actions of the players(Player A folds, B raises to 20, C calls, ect.). Rather bad when multitabeling.
Or have I missed something?

Can we trade the "iPod Touch" in the VIP Gift Accumulator promo for cash? Looked and can't see it says that anywhere, but I once won an iPod and a Wii in another promo and was allowed to trade them in for cash then?

Re: PartyPoker October Release

If anyone is interested, we are hosting a player appreciation freeroll on Friday December 3rd at 15:30 ET (Monthly Million Madness under the freeroll tab). Up for grabs are 25 Monthly Million entries for the tournament taking place on Sunday December 5th.

At this point I am sure it sounds repetitive, but we are working hard to make sure the issues that have caused you problems recently don’t reappear. We hate them as much as you do.

Re: PartyPoker October Release

Hi Mike

Throughout all the party rep threads for the last two years myself and plenty of others have been saying the rake at low level sngs is too high.

It is double the industry average for a $5 competition.

Several threads prior to this party rep promised someone would look at this issue, but nothing has been posted.

Now several of your sng "regs" are saying the games are dead or dying. I think a factor in this is people playing elsewhere to start because of the high rake you charge. Nobody at the bottom = nobody to move up= less people on site.

I cant think of a legitimate reason why party cap the rake at $10 on high stake sngs and charge the little guys double the norm.

Please look into this, and do something about it.

As I've posted before: lowering the rake on the micro-limit SNGs may well kill off nearly all the traffic on the $11 SNGs upwards...

I, and I'm sure other regs, will be leaving quickly if there isn't enough volume at "meaningful" levels (ie: maybe Russians and East-Europeans can make a living grinding $5 SNGs and below, but nobody from Western Europe can...).

And the idea that players "moving up" will somehow make the higher limits any better is just pure fallacy: the player's "moving up" will just add yet more regs to already reg-packed SNGs while at the same time some of the fish who would rather player lower, but don't because of the higher rake, will leave and make the games yet worse.

I got flamed last time and prolly will get flamed again, but I definitely think any reduction in the micro-limit SNGs needs to be considered VERY carefully... IMO, "game-type consolidation" would do far more to keep the games healthy for a while longer.

The fact is that party has charged double the industry standard rake for sngs below$10 for too long. How many people have been put off playing on party or opened a acount elsewhere because of this?

Everybody should be aware that they can pay 50% less rake playing at other sites.

yes they should be aware but how many % of the casual players you think care about rake or even know what it is? just because you are aware doesnt mean everyone knows it, especially the people you want to play against.

regs know it so they avoid the small stakes like juk said creating more traffic in higher limits

not that i care about SNGs but juks post makes sense too

a friend of mine (fish not pro player) recently switched back to fulltilt because he saw the rake was lower!

And let me tell you he's not the smartest fish ever so if he realized that, a lot of fish will too !

Lets all petition party to increase the rake at the micros, then all the regs will have to move up then?

Juks argument doesnt wash, its purely personal for him.

well do other sites that are around same size party is have traffic in smaller stakes SNGs? are their rake same/lower?

i think ftp/stars are the only sites that can offer small enough games and still have traffic at all of them

like 5 years ago the smallest SNGs were $5 and smallest cash games 25nl. games have changed A LOT since then. maybe it is time to get rid of the micros again soon

Well from Party's perspective it isn't going to be a good thing if they lose a big proportion of their traffic at the $11 SNGs and upwards... I'm not against rake-reduction (and have even stood up for people here who everybody is flaming before on the subject), but I am against watering down of player pools:

Four years ago Pacific decided to offer so many game types it became impossible to multi-table there anymore and I moved to Party... If Party goes the same way then I'll just be forced to move again (as I'm sure many other regs will...).

There's no way regs are just gonna stay and say to themselves: "oh well, I used to play 12 tables but since I can't I'll just stay and play the 5 that's available..." - they are just going to leave and find a new site where they can play as many as they want... Then after they've left the next lot will be asking themselves: "I used to play 8 tables, should I just just stay and play the 4 that's available or find a new site?", and so on.

Yeah, back in the day Party offered nothing below $5 SNGs, $0.5/$1 LHE and $25 NLHE (and they were the biggest site still).

They also offered only a single NLHE SNG format (as opposed to 3/4 like now: Regular, Normal, DoN, Turbo) and had about 5-10x the player pool.

Re: PartyPoker October Release

Attention mid stakes party sng players,

If you are grinding $22 - $55 games @ party i am sure you are familiar with the names strfx489 - used to be "jumpingtree" - and p0kermon5ter.

These 2 accounts are same person's -very likely- or 2 guys know eachother and playing together. There are ton of evidence of this @ their play like chipdumping eachother and stuff but the most significant evidence is they start and end their sessions same time and never play seperately. Pompeypoker already made a thread about it a while ago - Thanks to him - about it ( https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/36...-right-890420/ ) and i have lots of similar hands been played between them and they have excact stats and playing styles which make me believe more that they are the same person.

I already called party last week to report and pushing them since then to take action for the most obvious and and most easily noticable collusion of the poker history but they refused to take action yet where they could easily just stop them playing @ the same tables untill they fully invastigate the matter just based on the reason that they dont play a single game seperately. It realy is a big shame they see it and doing nothing. The support guy i spoke last told me that latest friday this would come to a conclusion and i hope it does.

I already stopped playing @ the same tables with them and started to warn people @ the table before the game fills.

Any party players who knows about this and/or have evidence but didnt care to report it; It is now important for the integrity and trafic of the party games you do so. Please spare a few moments to send an email or call the support to report it and spread the word so we can stop these cancer cells before they spread and kill the games.

Thanks.

Can you repost the URL? (it's got "..." in the middle atm)

Juk

EDIT: Also, if you are a Sharkscope subscriber then is it not possible to do some kind of "paired search" for the two players? I've seen people post this before in other Stars-related collusion threads... If so, can somebody with a subscription account do that for us and post the results?
