imo they should accomodate uNL players better also

I am moving in august because of their rubbish VIP system.

I mean, grinders pay the most rake, so why not try and get more of em online?

agree 100%, party could really develop an edge over the competition (esp ipoker w/ rip off stuff like 1 pound rakecap) as stars is now the only legit site that offers HU games w/ 50 cent cap (and thus will probably draw most HU players.

other option would obv be to just give everyone 50%+ rakeback deals like ipokers/microgaming does but i guess thats not partys way to do it

We’ve made conquering the planet easy. Simply earn 10 PartyPoints and you’ll be randomly awarded a city from the 72 available
the promo lasts for 50 days allowing you to get over 5000 cities and there are only 72. what are the chances the you will collect them all if it is random? (serious question, gonna try to do the math myself but would be nice if someone confirms)

it only takes 25k in rake to get them all

i did some math based on those links but I have no clue if the numbers are correct

I got that on average it takes 350 tries to get the 72 cities picked (fairly sure about this number)

and if you got 5000(in reality you can get more) tries I got that it is only around 1.6% that you won't hit them all (very unsure about this number)

I have a lot of difficulty to believe that this promotion is random but i'll wait until someone wiser comes to post numbers

From the wiki page:

E(T) = n/n + n/(n-1) + n/(n-2) + ... + n/1 = sum of n/t where t=1 to n

Using Wolfram Alpha (ie: just type in "sum of 72/t where t=1 to 72"): http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i...re+t%3D1+to+72

E(T) = ~350

My guess is it's gonna be fixed though and some of the cities will be much harder to get than others (eg: like the McDonalds monopoly promotion where some of the properties are ridiculously hard to get compared to others).

Well there is some tiny chance they've messed up the promotion!

but if the cities are not random and some are really hard to get just based on luck would be ugly imo. you could grind like a mashine and just be unlucky to not get the one city where the chance to get it is 1: 100000 or whatever.

the lottery in june was joke enough imo. i got $25 for my 6000 party points.

Yeah, this would be an easy way to control the chance of anybody winning, from the wiki again:

Understanding the problem

The key to solving the problem is understanding that it takes very little time to collect the first few coupons. On the other hand, it takes a long time to collect the last few coupons. In fact, for 50 coupons, it takes on average 50 trials to collect the very last coupon after the other 49 coupons have been collected. This is why the expected time to collect all coupons is much longer than 50. The idea now is to split the total time into 50 intervals where the expected time can be calculated.

Juk, if they can't even fix a 5 year old bug, how are they supposed to fix that.

However, my question is why the promotion starts 8:th of July, that decreases our chances DRAMATICALLY, almost 1/3.

huh?

the promo lasts until the end of august, over 50 days

If it were random, they'd have said so!

It's also obvious that some countries and continents are more valuable than others - one may expect that some of the rerlevant cities will be rare.

Still, fun enough concept for a promotion.

Oh that's true. I thought it was a normal monthly promotion.
I guess we will have to stick with this promotion for TWO months!

I would put a ton of money on it not being truly random. There has to be at least a variance in drop rates for each city. Otherwise it would make no sense for one continent or country to be worth more than others. How could they cost the promotion? I'm pretty sure no-one would underwrite the risk.

It might be the case that you are awarded a random city out of a pool of 1 million, say. Of that million, 50,000 will be Mumbai, and, say, only 2,000 will be Vancouver. It's "random", but not random.

Last edited by thunderbolts; 07-01-2011 at 11:51 AM. Reason: Vancouver's obviously a bad example because it's the crappiest freeroll prize. The rare ones will be ones not on that list.

"Ends: 23:59 ET on 31st August, or when all the cities have been given away"

So yeah it looks like it'll be random but from a prepared finite pool
