So that the Elite chase can maintain it's own uninterrupted thread, I created this one. It's purpose is to discuss new changes to the PokerStars VIP Club for 2009, as well as to share and exchange information, including, but not limited to, VPP accumulation rates in various games and at various levels, amongst other things.

If you want to bitch about or praise the VIP freerolls, feel free to do so here.

If you are new and have a question about the PokerStars VIP Club, feel free to ask here.

I personally believe the "fractional vpp's" issue will be helpful to grinders. Why wouldn't Stars want to encourage more people to go for SNE?

There are tons of players in the 500kish area this year im assuming. If Stars makes it a little easier to get elite, maybe they will push for the full 1 million, thus paying more rake. If the average SNE gets like 50% RB, and there are ~150 of them, giving 70% RB to 400 people is waaaay more money for Stars.

Yes Stars makes less per SNE, but there will be many more of them imo.

I would want to bitch about the freerolls, but how do you feel about them now? They are a pain in my neck every week, but i have a feeling if I final tabled 1 (i dunno say like 3rd place or something) I might feel different?

I'm shooting for 500K this year & am hoping they come up with that mystically bridge between 100K and 1 million (in addition to the milestones MicroB). 4x multiplier at 500K!

Get rid of the freerolls and give other benefits for cash game players.

Also, a middle tier between SN and SNE would be awesome, but I doubt that will ever happen.

-agree 1000% that vip freerolls sucks. freerolls are for bustos imo.
-agree that a middle tier would be awesome, although id much rather have SNE become easier to obtain.

Any word on when the partial vpps will begin, or how they will be structured?

ooo I like this thread already.

So I did some calcs based on my hopeful fractional VPP structure.

My last 39,910 hands at 50NL FR i had 7316 hands reach 40 cents rake and 400 hands reach $3 rake, for a total of 7716 VPPs. That gave me a 0.193 vpp/hand rate.

IF..... they gave me half of a VPP at 20 cent rake, I had an extra 5371 hands that reached 20 cents rake but did not reach 40 cents rake. That would have been an extra 1193.5 VPPs for a 0.261 vpp/hand rate.

I would love Stars forever if they did this.

Any up-to-date estimations on VPP's/hand for each level? This is what I have for SSNL, and I'm positive they've gone down since I came up with these totals...

.33 VPP's/hand @ 100 6max
.35 VPP's/hand @ 100 FR
.46 VPP's/hand @ 200 6max
.49 VPP's/hand @ 200 FR

Get rid of freerolls; instead periodically send all Supernovas books on spelling and grammar.

200nl FR this month was .43

Before this month it was closer to .46

100nl FR I believe is around .32 but I don't have nearly as big a sample size.

LOL...this means it's going to drop to like .40 in January when a thousand people start chasing SNE (and still feel motivated to set a good pace). Yikes.

If they do this, 100% of the estimated $40k in rake i'll pay in 2009 will go to Stars.

$40K gives you 200K+ VPP and more rakeback than FullTilt through Supernova and 200K milestone

Freerolls suck. Just wanted to say that. Maybe it helps changing something, but pretty sure, it won't.

As the natural cynic, I have to comment on this. Assuming VPP is directly proportional to your rakeback%, that would effectively increase your rakeback by 26% (relative to what it was). Do you really think they're going to just do this out of the kindness of their heart?

Mad props to Stars if they do, but....

I second having some type of bridge level between SN and SNE. I thought long and hard about going for elite but just don't think I have the time to do it, but would be more likely to increase my play if there were stronger milestone incentives. I'm a 3/6-5/10 LHE grinder fwiw...

freerolls don't suck. Beginners love 'em and look forward to playing enough to qualify for all the wondeful freerolls we get. Those who make it will then whinge the freerolls suck forgetting why they don't.
