Norway players banned......

Does anyone have more information on this please?

I am aware that restrictions have been placed on French players online recently but I also hear that Norway has banned all card gaming transactions from June 1st.

Anyone else have more information on the restrictions and implications for players in Norway??

The games would certainly become interesting if scandi players were to be banned.

Re: Norway players banned......

I'm from Norway and have been playing on stars and FTP after 1 june, only difference is that you can't make direct transactions to the pokersite OR Netteller/Monebookers from your Visa card.

You should be able to make a deposit by something like Bank Access i think its called, but that will take a couple of days and you will get a bill which you have to pay within 14 days, thats what i've understood from the mail i got from Pokerstars explaining the situation.

Also this new law does not only apply to card games but all foreign gambling sites, the Norwegian government wants to keep your losses by allowing you to only playing on the single bookmaker we have in Norway, which again is owned by the government OFC:P

Also the official statement from some politicians who have been promoting this law, admitted that they can't keep everyone from playing poker/online casino's but they just wanted to make it harder to deposit and maybe you would think twice before doing so in the future.

So in the end i think this might be good for me since now i have to apply proper bankroll management

Re: Norway players banned......

From June 1 Norwegians can no longer use credit or debit cards issued by norwegian banks for gambling transactions (both online and offline).

Weather we still can use our cards to fund our neteller/moneybookers accounts i'm not sure. I use moneybookers and there you have to declare weather you are going to use the money for gambling purposes and if you do I suspect the norwegian cards wont work however I havent tried it. You can't withdraw money to your visa card either. You should still be able to fund your mb account by bank transfer tough but this takes a few days (waited 6 business days last time), and off course withdraw by bank transfer is still possible.

Another possible implication is that the cards might be rejected when paying for Vegas hotels as they are all casinos....

Aha.

Thank you sosick

So does this seem like more of an 'inconvenience' for Norwegians, rather than a complete ban?

Re: Norway players banned......

Yeah, basically it just takes out visa cards as an deposit/withdrawal option, other than that we can play as usual.

It's an epidemic. Hopefully, Cali will legalize weed in November and give the fundamentalists something else to whine about and show how much money is in regulation of any popular endeavor.

Did they took the French out already? I mean, is there something effectively preventing them from depositing?

Norway is fine, although it will prevent new fish recruitment obviously. Bank transfers to Neteller/Moneybookers/other payment processors work just fine. Same with withdrawals.

Oh noes, the giant Norwegian fish pool.

Re: Norway players banned......

Norwegian visa cards dont work online or at live casinos in Vegas and London for example. What Ive heard is that you cant use norwegian visa cards in the casinos but have to go to atm and take out cash. The restrictions goes for every gambling site without our own Norsk "****tygames" Tipping. Pokers illegal in Norway btw. Want to know more about the system here? Didn't Germany already pass a law against online gambling in Jan 2009?

If you mean in poker then no. Most norwegian players that plays online are regs and less fish are coming in now after the visa restrictions. If poker would be legalized one day, it would set off a poker boom here in Norway and a ton of fish would deposit online and start playing live games. Oh that would be great.
