THIS WEEK: March 24, 2019
“SkallePer58” Wins Sunday Mega Deep for Sweden
The $215 buy-in Sunday Mega Deep attracted 313 players who rebought 128 times, which meant a $100,000 prize pool was reserved for the top 45 players. Among those to get a piece of it were Niklas “tutten7” Åstedt (38th - $600), “IggyGak” (24th - $750), “Panzerfish” (14th - $1,250), “Mr.Fonzi” (7th - $3,400), “EyeofSkadi” (4th - $8,250), and “sikosomatik” (3rd - $11,000).
After 10 hours and 36 minutes, Sweden’s “SkallePer58” bested Finland’s “purplegerbil” in heads-up play to win a $19,350 first-place prize. The win came a little more than a year after “SkallePer58” took down the $15,000 Turbo Mega Deep for $5,668.
“mrsmith78” Wins Rake or Break Main Event for $17,300
The $320 buy-in Rake or Break Main Event drew 227 players who rebought 55 times. That meant the $100,000 prize pool target wasn’t hit -- $84,600 was on tap – so all players got their rake back!
The top 27 spots were paid including “RoddyMacneil” (29th - $634.50), “Villeroi” (17th - $930.60), “CalmRevolver” (8th - $2,115), “alexos888” (5th - $4,906.80), and “strangejelly” (3rd - $9,559.80).
After 7 hours and 34 minutes, it was “mrsmith78” defeating “StuntSoHard” in heads-up play to win the title and accompanying $17,300.70 first-place prize. It was a bit of redemption for “mrsmith78” after he finished seventh in February’s $300 buy-in RakeLESS Sunday Main Event for $4,300.
“laston16” Outlasts the Competition to Take Down Rake or Break Challenge
The $109 buy-in Rake or Break Challenge had a target prize pool of $25,000, which it surpassed by drawing 220 players who rebought 49 times. That resulted in a $26,900 prize pool that was paid out to the top 36 players including “ImPaulin” (25th - $228.65), “HermanMelvin” (14th - $363.15), “tikkapekka” (9th - $511.10), “root4deuces” (5th - $1,560.20), and “DuduPa1986” (3rd - $3,039.70).

Rake or Break Monsoon Ends in Heads-Up Deal
The $55 buy-in Rake or Break Monsoon surpassed its $15,000 target by attracting 316 players who rebought 75 times. That created a $19,550 prize pool that was paid out to the top 45 players including Bryan “DePittsterje” Paris (45th - $117.30), “YupYupMan” (25th - $146.62), “ZDamian” (12th - $293.25), “MuggyW” (5th - $1,114.35), and “bomberman115” (3rd - $2,150.50).
After 7 hours and 24 minutes in the tournament, the final two struck a deal in which Canada’s “Kurple” finished in second place for $3,022.70 and Lithuania’s “RB27.” claimed the title and $3,595.90 in prize money.
“TigerNoTilt” Bests Mark Hurd to Win Sunday Deepstack Monsoon
The $55 buy-in $10,000 GTD Sunday Deepstack Monsoon saw 195 players rebuy 75 times, which created a $13,500 prize pool paid out to the top 27 players including “gawner” (19th - $135), Ian “Simpioni” Simpson (10th - $236.25), “lagostim” (6th - $675), and Bryan “DePittsterje” Paris (4th - $1,181.25).
After “Life0nMars” bowed out in third place for $1,586.25, the title came down to the UK’s “markhurd” and Ukraine’s “TigerNoTilt.” Nine hours and nine minutes into the tournament, the latter came out top and took down the $2,902.50 first-place prize.
“wisimaki” Wins Whale for $22,000
The $1,050 buy-in Whale surpassed its $50K GTD by drawing 36 players who rebought 19 times. That created a $55,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top five players including “StuntSoHard” (5th - $4,400), “PokerJoe332” (4th - $5,500), and “purplegerbil” (3rd - $8,250).
After 5 hours and 26 minutes, it came down to the UK’s “wisimaki” and Canada’s Sam “FlatTopTony” Greenwood. The former ultimately prevailed to claim the title and $22,000 first-place prize. The win came two weeks after he finished sixth in the same tournament for $3,245.
While he didn’t win the Whale, Greenwood would win something else on Sunday – a seat into the 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event. Read on to find out how.
