Sunday was a special day for 888poker Ambassador Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot, who while streaming to thousands of fans, topped a 506-entry (329 unique + 177 rebuys) field to win the $215 buy-in, $100K GTD Sunday Mega Deep for $17,390 after a heads-up deal.
The tournament offered up a $101,200 prize pool paid out to the top 48 players including “KelevraJesus” (38th - $577), Sam “sammygrinder” Grafton (34th - $577), Anton “anteen” Bertilsson (20th - $982), “Streusalz” (9th - $1,771), “888topPair” (5th - $5,313), and “bossamtisch1” (3rd - $10,879).
After just over 10 hours, Talbot and “sikosomatik” struck a deal. You already know what the former got, while the latter received $16,512 for finishing in second place.
Sam “sammygrinder” Grafton Closes Out the Monsoon
The $55 buy-in Sunday Deepstack Monsoon saw 201players rebuy 74 times, which surpassed the $10K GTD by creating a $13,750 prize pool paid out to the top 27 players. Among those to cash were “ZeroNineee” (20th - $137.50), “villagelife” (13th - $206), “mugggggy” (7th - $550), “1LevelAbove” (6th - $687.50), and “Flopchopper” (3rd - $1,616).
After 8 hours and 50 minutes, the UK’s Sam “sammygrinder” Grafton defeated “Dogsplace” to win the title and $2,956. The win came one week after Grafton finished runner-up in the Sunday Whale for $17,774.
He also finished second in the October 28 Sunday Mega Deep for $14,877, and back on September 9 placed third in the $10,000 Monsoon for $1,215.
“traverrrr” the Bounty Hunter; PKOs the Competition for More Than $6,500
The $215 buy-in Turbo Mega Deep Progressive Knockout (PKO) had 77 players rebuy 16 times, which meant a $20,000 prize pool ($10,700 in the regular prize pool, $9,300 in the bounty pool) was up for grabs. Only the top 12 got paid including Sam “sammygrinder” Grafton (12th for $294.25 + $100 in bounties), “mosi157” (8th for $347.75 + $50 in bounties), and “ghandivan” (4th for $1,016.50 + $300 in bounties).
In the end, after just 3 hours and 16 minutes in the tournament, it was “traverrrr” who prevailed to win a $2,916 prize plus an additional $3,653 in bounties. Meanwhile, “_Lord_Xenu_” had to settle for runner-up for $1,980 plus $491 in bounties.
“Irreligious8” Weathers Monsoon to Win $2,873
The $55 buy-in, $10K GTD Monsoon attracted 224 players to the virtual felt and they rebought 57 times to generate a $14,050 prize pool. That was paid to the top 36 players including “Hugo_lewis08” (25th - $119), “mugggggy” (13th - $190), “popsnpoker” (6th - $632), and “kingoftilt94” (4th - $1,194).
After “upaymyweed_” bowed out in third place for $1,588, the title came down to “ruttz” and “Irreligious8.” After 6 hours and 38 minutes in the tournament, that latter pulled out the win to the tune of $2,873.
Russia’s “DamnWorld” Lands Himself a Starfish
The $22 buy-in, $5K GTD Sunday Deepstack Starfish had 295 runners account for 105 rebuys, which blew by the guarantee by creating an $8,000 prize pool. Among the top 45 to get paid were “Maklay36” (15th - $100), “vallaelanik” (9th - $140), “Hooooooold” (6th - $352), and “gzp974” (3rd - $880).
After just under 10 hours, Russia’s “DamnWorld” defeated “Renato2322” in heads-up play to win a $1,548 first-place prize. Not a bad return on investment!
