888poker Ambassador Chris Moorman Wins Whale for $26,000
Chris Moorman is online poker’s most accomplished tournament player and on Sunday he added another title to his laundry list resumé – the $80,000 Sunday Whale!
The $1,050 buy-in tournament drew 62 players who rebought 17 times. Among them were Fabricio “DrMiKee” Gonzalez, Ole “olekonjole” Schemion, and 888poker Ambassador Dominik “888Dominik” Nitsche, though none of them managed to cash.
In fact, just the top eight players got paid including Mike “Pipedream17” Dietrich (8th - $3,200), “MisterN411” (7th - $3,600), Niklas “tutten7” Åstedt (4th - $8,000), and “Madeon1994” (3rd - $12,000).
After 6 hours and 17 minutes, Moorman dispatched Argentina’s Rodrigo “sonmonedass” Perez to claim the title. It was the second time in just over a month Perez finished runner-up in a big tournament having took second in the June 28th $15,000 Mega Deep for $3,232. Fortunately for him, he had won the $15,000 Turbo Mega Deep four days before that for $5,590.
Two 888poker Ambassadors Go Deep in GREAT 8
The $88 buy-in Sunday GREAT 8 easily surpassed its $20K GTD by drawing 247 players who rebought 92 times. That created a $27,120 prize pool paid out to the top 32 players including “Pserinho” (29h - $203), 888poker Ambassadors Sofia “sofialovgren” Lövgren (17th - $271) and Chris “888Moorman” Moorman (16th - $407), “tenshj” (7th - $949), and “snapcallalot” (4th - $2,305).
After Germany’s “_RipCheese_” took his leave in third place, the title came down to Denmark’s “Theindian85” and the Netherland’s “MisterN411.” After 7 hours and 33 minutes in the tournament, the latter prevailed to capture a $5,492 first-place prize.
You might recall that back May, “MisterN411” bested a field of 131 players to win the $2,600 buy-in XL Inferno Event #16: $200,000 High Roller for $90,063.
Moorman Makes Another Final Table, “VitaliyPanko” Wins Sunday Challenge
The $109 buy-in, $40,000 GTD Sunday Challenge attracted 333 players to the virtual felt and they accounted for 111 rebuys. That created a $44,400 prize pool that was distributed to the top 45 players including “NukeTheMoon” (34th - $289), “PulledPorker” (19th - $333), “ZeroNineee” (12th - $666), and Chris “888Moorman” Moorman (5th - $2,531).
After “kaiser066” and Andreas “KURDEdersim” Samuelsson bowed out in fourth and third place respectively, the title came down to Canada’s Zack “DuduPa1986” Korik and Russia’s “VitaliyPanko.” After nearly nine hours in the event, the Russian pulled out the win to pad his bankroll by $8,591.
“HomoDeus” Finds Mega Deep Redemption
The $215 buy-in Sunday Mega Deep surpassed its $100K GTD by drawing 358 players who rebought 186 times. That resulted in a $108,800 prize pool and among the 48 players to get a piece of it were “cuadrado12” (36th - $620), Joao Mathias “joao_mathias” Baumgarten (25th - $740), “LevelingMode” (12th - $1,904), and “dkfdyulr” (3rd - $8,432).
After 11 hours and 11 minutes, the tournament ended in heads-up chop. Russia’s “EyeofSkadi” earned $18,085 for finishing runner-up while Germany’s “HomoDeus” took the title and $18,363 in prize money.
Back in May, “HomoDeus” finished runner-up in the XL Inferno Event #9: $120,000 Mega Deep for $19,768.
“Grozzorg” Scores Second Win in Two Days
The $55 buy-in, $15,000 GTD Sunday Monsoon drew 284 players who rebought 95 times. That generated an $18,950 prize pool paid out to the top 36 spots including “Dallmad” (26th - $161), “TheColdCallr” (14th - $256), “pokernep” (7th - $663), and “vitola99” (5th- $1,099).
After 7 hours and 40 minutes, Germany’s “Grozzorg” defeated Canada’s “mixer_jr” to win the title and $3,875 top prize. The win came just two days after “Grozzorg” took down the $10,000 Tornado for a smooth $3,000 and finished sixth in the $15,000 Mega Deep for $840.
What to watch out for:
Right now, players have the opportunity to become millionaires simply by playing BLAST Sit & Go’s, which are turbo Texas hold’em sit and goes played four-handed.
For a limited time only, those who play a $1 BLAST event will have a chance at $1,000,000, while those who participate in the $5 BLAST could win $2,000,000.
“Not many people get a chance to win that kind of money in poker, much less for $1 or $5,” said 888poker Ambassador Chris Moorman, who plans to BLAST away for the very first time during the promotion. “This is a fun, low cost opportunity to try your luck that anyone can enjoy regardless of skill level.”
