888Ambassor & 2014 WSOP Champ Martin Jacobson Wins Special Edition Whale
This week’s $1,050 buy-in Whale was a Special Edition with a $150K GTD. With 106 players rebuying 53 times, the guarantee was surpassed by creating a $159,000 prize pool. After 8 hours and 45 minutes, 888poker’s newest ambassador, Martin Jacobson, emerged victorious to win $39,750 and one of the most prestigious weekly titles in online poker.
Jacobson, who of course won the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event for $10 million, plays under the screen name “Mjacobson888” and it took him just 8 hours and 45 minutes to seal the deal.
Needless to say, Jacobson is already making waves at 888poker. You can read more about him becoming an 888poker Ambassador by clicking here.

Sweden’s Robin “Inho” Ylitalo Wins Mega Deep
Robin “Inho” Ylitalo is no stranger to poker success. Last year he won both XL Inferno and XL Eclipse titles, and in the live realm he has more than $1.8 million in earnings, which puts him 12th on Sweden’s all-time poker money list. That includes $909,574 for winning the EPT10 London in 2013.
On Sunday, Ylitalo added arguably our most prestigious title to his trophy case – the Special Edition Mega Deep. The $215 buy-in tournament drew 430 players who rebought 213 times, which surpassed the $120K GTD by creating a $128,600 prize pool.
To win, Ylitalo had to overcome a tough final table that included Guilherme “Anao19” Schreiber (9th - $2,096.18), Niklas “tutten7” Astedt (7th - $3,215), “tikkapekka” (3rd - $13,503), and his heads-up opponent “rickpereira7” (2nd - $18,004). It was a long day for Ylitalo, who played for 11 hours and 43 minutes before closing it out.
“summuNNN” is Now a GREAT 8 Champion
The $88 buy-in GREAT 8 was also a Special Edition thanks to a $50,000 guarantee. The tournament, which is played 8-handed and starts players with 8,888 in chips, saw 481 players rebuy 174 times to create a $52,400 prize pool.
After a lengthy 10 hours and 17 minutes, the title came down to “summuNNN” and “ChIpSiSbk,” both from the UK. In the end, the former prevailed to capture a $9,956 top prize. Last June, “summuNNN” won the $5,000 Thunder 6-Max for $1,231, and the year before that took down the $15,000 Crocodile for $4,278. Now he’s got a GREAT 8 title on his résumé.
Super XL Champ “4timesBet” Wins Turbo Mega Deep Title
The $215 buy-in Turbo Mega Deep attracted 64 players who rebought 22 times. That meant a $20,000 prize pool was up for grabs and destined for the final eight players. Two familiar faces that got a piece of it were former Whale winner and XL Inferno champ “MalakiasCF” (7th - $900) and “Grunner777” (4th - $2,000).
After just over four hours, it was Greece’s “4timesBet” that bested Malta’s Luigi “firgli” Knoppers in heads-up play to add $6,500 to his bankroll. Back in May 2016, “4timesBet” topped a field of 690 players to win the $5 buy-in Super XL Event #13: Mini Snap Multi Chance for $1,090.
Ivan “nomoney4ever” Banic Denied Lightning Title
The $55 buy-in Sunday Lightning 6-Max attracted 116 runners who rebought 47 times, which meant a $10,000 prize pool would be distributed to the top 18 spots. “SleepingZace” (14th - $130), “Doked” (11th - $215), “TomBrady17” (7th - $325), and “Unde_” (4th - $850) were some of the players to finish in the money.
After Lithuania’s “Ezreaal,” a XL Eclipse champ, busted in third place for $1,300, it set up a heads-up match between Croatia’s Ivan “nomoney4ever” Banic and the Netherlands’ “trackdude.” After 7 hours and 51 minutes, the Dutchie emerged victorious to claim the $2,600 first-place prize.
It was another close call for Banic, who in May 2016 had to settle for third place out of 303 players in the Super XL Event #15: $400,000 High Roller, which cost $2,100 to enter. That said, he won $66,600 in that tournament to help soothe the paid.
