both “bygavuga” and “scellone94” also found success on Thursday. Find out all the details in our
daily 888poker XL Blizzard recap.
XL Blizzard Day 1: Jan “Graftekkel” Arends Wins Opening Event, “bygavuga” &
“scellone94” Claim Titles
The 11-day XL Blizzard, which will run through January 28, kicked off with the first trio of
tournaments on the 34-event schedule. All told, the first day of the popular series catered to
3,902 entries and awarded $150,906 in prize money. By the end, more than $2.8 million will be
won.
We’ll be bringing you daily updates of the XL Blizzard, so be sure to check back every day. For
now, you can read about the first three events below.
The XL Blizzard, which offers events as low as $5 and as high as $2,100, on 888poker is just
getting started. There are several exciting events on this year’s schedule including $50,000 Crazy
8; $2,100 buy-in, $250,000 GTD High Roller; and $1,050 buy-in, $1,000,000 GTD Main Event
on Jan. 28. We’re also offering new promotions such as awarding big cash prizes to anyone who
wins multiple events ($1,000,000 if you can win five of them), a “Bubble of Bubbles”
tournament (gain entry if/when you bubble a tournament), and the return of the Champion of
Champions event.
The Champion of Champions returns for the XL Blizzard series and one lucky 888poker player
will win a $12,000 WSOP Vegas package. Each time you play in an XL Blizzard event, you earn
leaderboard points. The top 50 players on the leaderboard receive a ticket to the Champion of
Champions tournament and everyone in that special event wins a prize.

XL Eclipse Champ Jan “Graftekkel” Arends Wins Opening Event
The $109 buy-in XL Blizzard Event #1: $80,000 Opening Event needed 800 entries to hit the
guarantee, and it was hit with ease as 667 players rebought 279 times to create a $94,600 prize
pool. That was distributed to the top 90 players, and the man finishing in 91st place was
Argentina’s “BtM4Ever,” who left emptyhanded, but became the first player to lock up a seat in
the “Bubble of Bubbles” tournament.
Among those to cash the tournament were 888poker Ambassador Chris “888Moorman”
Moorman (62nd for $302.72), “Cashdurrr” (36th for $425.70), “jareth3542” (21st for $473), and
“Wall2Wall3b” (10th for $1,040.60).
After nearly 10 hours of play, the final table was set, and it was a truly international affair. In
Level 29 (22,500/45,000/5,625), Russia’s “M9yM9so” got his stack all in preflop with the A♥7♦
and failed to hold against the Q♠8♥ of the Netherlands’ Jan “Graftekkel” Arends after a
4♣6♥8♦8♠10♥ run out. “M9yM9so” earned $4,020.50 for finishing in sixth place.
With three players left, Canada’s “BTIPPPPP” got his last 13 big blinds all in preflop holding the
K♣K♠ and was primed to double through Arends. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out
J♠8♣3♦A♦9♣ and Arends rivered a straight to send the Canadian home in third place for $9,460.
In the final hand of the tournament, Ireland’s “123magmag123” got his chips in on a 10♣9♠J♠9♣
board holding the K♥9♦ for trips, which was behind the 8♦7♠ straight of Arends. The A♣ river
was a blank and “123magmag123” had to settle for runner-up and a $12,771 consolation prize.
Last March, Arends topped a field of 702 entries to win the $80,000 Sunday Challenge for
$15,991. Six Months later, he bested a 302-entry field to win the XL Eclipse Event #100:
$250,000 Whale for $64,930.
With a win in the opening event, Arends becomes the first player to win both XL Eclipse and Blizzard titles.
Event #2 Mini Opening Event Ends in Three-Way Russian Deal
Over in the $12 buy-in XL Blizzard Event #2: $15,000 Mini Opening Event, 1,508 players
rebought 832 times to create a $25,506 prize pool. Among the 207 players to get a piece of it
were “888Ferraro” (138th for $35.70), “AdamWinwood” (72nd for $56.11), “KKicker10” (26th for
$96.92), and “sifakwai” (10th for $214.25).
As for the bubble boy, that was Ukraine’s “_FALCON_”, who became the second player to be
awarded a seat into the “Bubble of Bubbles” tournament.
When action was down to the final three players, who all happened to be Russians, they struck a
deal before playing it out. “APCEBAT,” who actually got the second most money with
$3,364.42, ended up busting in third place, and then “bygavuga” defeated “VyachesLove” in
heads-up play. They earned $3,393.54 and $2,963.48 respectively
“scellone94” Scores a XL Blizzard Title for Malta
The last XL Blizzard tournament of the day was the $55 buy-in XL Blizzard Event #3: $20,000
Late Opening Event, which drew 441 players who rebought 175 times. That created a $30,800
prize pool that was paid out to the top 63 players.
Someone who just missed out on it by finishing in 64th place was Brazil’s “R.nahtanoJ,” who
became the last player of the day to punch their ticket to the “Bubble of Bubbles” tournament.
Among those to cash were “t8ofdiamonds” (51st for $144.76), “EyeofSkadi” (25th for $184.80),
2016 Super XL Main Event runner-up “carmen.1957” (14th for $308), and “n0sferatv” (11th for
$369.60).
After 7 hours and 35 minutes, the title went to Malta’s “scellone94,” who defeated Germany’s
“Charlymogo” in heads-up play to win $5,852. A former Lightning 6-Max champ, “scellone94”
finished runner-up in the January 3 $20,000 Mega Deep New Year’s Special for $5,385.
What’s Coming Up on Friday?
Two more events will take place on Friday, January 19, both at 19:00. The first is the $55 buy-in
XL Blizzard Event #4: $20,000 Twins Royal and the other the $55 buy-in XL Blizzard Event #5:
$20,000 Twins Flush. We’ll bring you a recap of the action once they wrap up.

Day 2 of the XL Blizzard, an 11-day series that will run through January 28, played out on
Friday with two more tournaments off the 34-event schedule. The second day of the popular
series catered to 1,161 entries and $58,050 in prize money.
That means between the first two days of the series, 5,063 entrants have taken to the felt and won
a combined $208,956. By the end, more than $2.8 million will have been won by players in the
XL Blizzard.
We’ll be bringing you daily updates of the XL Blizzard, so be sure to check back every day. For

“Pasha813” Denies “vampa500” Another XL Title
The $55 buy-in Event #4: $20,000 Twins Royal attracted 463 players who accounted for 130
rebuys. The 593-entry field created a $29,650 prize pool, and that was distributed among the top
63 players. The player who finished in 64th place, thus earning entry into the “Bubble of
Bubbles” tournament, was Sweden’s “youpornwnker.”
Some of those to earn a piece of it were “Sr.Penes” (4th for $148.25), 888poker Ambassador
Chris “888Moorman” Moorman (36th for $163.07), “courtiebee” (20th for $177.90), and
“juicyjules22” (10th for $355.80).
Two Russians made it to the final table in “nU3DOC” and “Pasha813.” The former ended up
being the first one out, while the latter went on to face off against Bulgaria’s “vampa500,”
winner of September’s XL Eclipse Event #51: $10,000 Turbo 8-Max, in heads-up play. After 7
hours, “Pasha813” took it to the house to win the title and accompanying $5,633.50 first-place
prize.
You might recall that, back in August, “Pasha813” topped a field of 526 runners to win the
$5,000 8-8-8 for $1,139. Now he’s the second Russian player to capture a XL Blizzard title.

“Jamasutra” Deals “Ao1ing” Another XL Heartbreak
The $55 buy-in Event #5: $20,000 Twins Flush saw 434 players rebuy 134 times to create a total
field of 568 entries. The turnout surpassed the guarantee by creating a $28,400 prize pool, which
was paid out to the top 63 players including “YoureMagical” (39th for $142), “Palyaaa” (22nd for
$170.40), “ob1wahn” (8th for $639), and “HotSauce86” (5th for $1,562).
Meanwhile, Norway’s “AKallinAA” busted in 64th place, meaning he’ll be participating in the
“Bubble of Bubbles” tournament.
The final four players consisted of three Russians and a German, so the odds were there would
be Twin winners from Russia. That didn’t happen though as “edyvpakistan” and “dimdaf”
bowed out in third and four places for $2,215.20 and $2,911 respectively.
That set up a heads-up match between the last Russian standing, “Ao1ing,” and Germany’s
“Jamasutra.” After 6 hours and 51 minutes, the tournament came to an end with “Jamasutra” on
top, a feat good for $5,396.
It was another close call for “Ao1ing,” who back in September nearly won the XL Eclipse Event
#131: $15,000 Lightning 6-Max. Unfortunately for him, he came up one spot shy finishing in
second place for $4,743.
What’s Coming Up on Saturday?
It’s going to be a crazy day tomorrow as three “Crazy 8” tournaments are on the schedule. At
19:00, the highly-anticipated $88 buy-in Event #6: $50,000 Crazy 8 will kick off. That
tournament will start play with 8,888 in chips and feature 15-minute levels.
At the same time, a more affordable $8.80 buy-in Event #7: $15,000 Mini Crazy 8 will begin.
Rounding out the Saturday schedule is the $44 buy-in Event #8: $15,000 Late Crazy 8 at 21:00.
The 888 XL Blizzard is surely a big event, and everyone is excited about hearing all the news! And who knows what day 3 will bring!

But would it also be possible for 888 to make a statement about how it intends to address the problem of innocent players having their funds confiscated and/or being banned for "use of AI"? We've seen examples where 888 has reversed its "final decision", and players were refunded, but only after a lot of unnecessary pain.

Spoiler:
Confiscating player funds without adequate evidence is rogue site behavior.

Please, we need a statement.

Please, we need a statement.
We have several different systems in place for the detection of Artificial Intelligence. When any account is closed for suspicion of using AI, they are contacted and asked to explain the patterns visible on the accounts. Depending on the different level and strength of evidence against the account and the response received from the player, a decision will then be taken on a case by case basis.

I have not played much on 888poker lately but I decided to do the Fortune Trail challenges as they looked interesting. I did what was needed to complete the challenges, but beyond that, I did not play too much on 888poker.

I have now received an e-mail telling me that my bonus privileges have been suspended, with the following explanation given:

"This is due to activity which may include repeatedly depositing during promotional events, to maximise the amount of bonuses in play on your account, or deposits followed by withdrawals once the bonus is awarded.

This activity is inconsistent with our philosophy of rewarding members for their loyalty and patronage, and so we have removed these bonus privileges from your account and any related accounts."

I have not made any deposits or withdrawals lately. The only reason for the ban that I can think of is that I didn't play enough in addition to completing the challenges. Do you have such a policy in place?

I've been playing on 888 since 3 weeks again.
Today I got the 2nd E-Mail which says I have been using"software that gives me an advantage in Snap-games because of HUDs" (in German). That they will monitor my account. I have never played SNAP games, so I guess they are accusing me of seat scripting. When I got the E-Mail 3 weeks ago I asked them what it means and never got a reply.
I obviously do not seat script, but I almost always join tables instead of starting them, which ironicly makes me not able to get a seat most of the time, since there are usually at least 2 people at 5/10+ who DO use a seating script.
Did anyone have a similar experience? How high are the chances they will wrongfully accuse me again and confiscate my funds?

Dear Rogerio,

Thank you for contacting us.

It is my pleasure to be assisting you with your deposit query today. Rogerio, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and please allow us the opportunity to address your concerns.

Upon creation of your account, the settle currency chosen was BRL, however, bankroll currency id USD. What happens is that when you make a deposit in BRL, it is then converted to USD as per your bankroll currency.

The exchange rate applied when making a deposit or withdrawal is one which is determined on a daily basis and implemented into our systems. These exchange rates are comparable with the daily commercial rates offered by banks and credit card companies.

Unfortunately Rogerio, you will not be able to change your bankroll currency. In order to avoid theses exchange rates when depositing funds, I kindly suggest that you change the settle currency to USD.

Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us again. If you need further assistance with this or any other matter, please feel free to contact us once again.
