I believe you can setup your account and fund it from your current location. You only need to physically be in NJ to play.

Never had an issue cashing out. First time took about 12 hours (back when they first legalized it.) My most recent withdraw took about 5 minutes.

I have been reading up on this for a long time - had some health issues so that prevented me from creating an account and playing - I reside in Pennsylvania it's now legal here as well. Everything I have read states you can have your address as it is - but you must be physically located in the state that it is legal in to play. Watch state lines too because of the geo location software. I am having a difficult time on desktop with the geolocation being able to verify me. I know it was the same with new Jersey (they sent out some type of dongle to help players). I had success funding from bank account (Visa card would not work). So you can most likely register and fund from home - deciding location to play from where you signal can be verified will be the most critical part. Have fun!

Yes, above posters are correct. You can create your account, fund it, and do withdrawals, from any location. But you must be physically within the state to play for money. I suggest you get your account funded, and deal with any verification issues, prior to your trip. You don't want to drive down there, then run into some delay. I did this for wsop in NJ prior to the Main Event they held in December. There were some delays for verification that took a day or two to resolve.

I live in a different state now and have not played on Pokerstars NJ since May 2018 but I logged into my account to find $85.96 which was apparently refunded to me on December 22, 2020.

I was playing quite a bit on Pokerstars PA in 2020. Seems strange though I'll gladly take the free money. Was there some player refund for Pokerstars NJ recently? I didn't receive any e-mail about this refund either.

they were overcharging rake (compared to what was listed on their website) in heads-up/short handed 100NL games and they refunded players the overcharged rake.

Thank you and all others for the tips and info.

I am hoping to get to NJ in a couple weeks for the WSOPC Online. I created an account, and submitted identity verification docs, and waiting on that to go through before I fund the account.

My only concern after the verification is done and account is funded is making sure Geolocation works, but I don't really have a way to test or verify that prior to the trip. I ordered a new laptop and hope that will work out, maybe I can contact support to hash out any potential issues or get tips for geolocation before the trip.

One other question, do HUDs work on WSOP NJ? Can PT4 be used?

I am fine with playing without a HUD, but if my competition will be using them I might as well get that set up.

Does anyone know if I could get PT4 and WSOP set up on my laptop and test HUD functionality in play money games prior to driving to NJ?

I am having an absolutely HORRIBLE experience on both WSOP and Party NJ trying to get accounts set up and verified.

Party:

Yesterday I created the Party account and verified it, and was able to make a deposit. I even proactively uploaded my Driver's license before being asked. Talked to Live Chat just to confirm and they said I was all set to travel to NJ and play. Just got done talking to Live Chat again after getting an email saying I would not be able to play real money games. Now they are saying I MUST be a resident of the state and cannot travel there to play, and my account will be suspended if I cannot provide proof of residence. I put in my real Maine address when creating the account, answered ID verification questions, and got no indication that having a Maine address was a problem, and they let me deposit.

WSOP:

Created account, uploaded photos of driver's license, got an email saying "your account is verified, please send bank statement and scan of Social Security card to get verified for real money games". With no direction on how/where to upload these docs. Since the WSOP desktop app was the only way I knew of to upload them, I logged in to upload the docs. I immediately got an error message saying that I was trying to Illegally play from outside of NJ and that my account has been flagged, and then the app closed. I emailed support to let them know what happened and ask what my next steps should be. Crickets.

I am pretty sure that on both sites, being a resident is not required, and that many people travel to NJ to play. Can people confirm this? Also, why would the Party software accept a Maine address and let me create, verify, and deposit, if this were not allowed? I am pretty sure their live chat staff are just clueless and I am getting different information every time I talk to them.

Has anyone else been through these bad experiences trying to get set up? Any tips for how I can smooth out the process and potentially get these things done? At this point I am very fed up and about ready to give up on the "regulated" sites and just stick to the gray market. It is unbelievable how terrible both sites treat their customers, they are worse than the cable company.

Anyone have connections at either of these sites? I am trying to play by the rules and desperately trying to give these companies my money!

The person you talked to at Party is an idiot. You don't have to be a resident to play.

With WSOP, message them and explain the situation with uploading your info. I would think you'd be able to email it to them...

Also, everyone else should be aware that BetMGM and Borgata brought back the wheel in their promotions this week. Today I got a free $20 sit and go ticket on BetMGM and a $50 sit and go ticket on Borgata. Not sure if Party is doing it as well or not. The rules have changed this time though... You get only get 1 spin a week instead of per day, however you can earn extra spins for every 125 points you earn with a max of 7 spins per week on each skin. Also, it says that if you win a ticket and register for a tourney but then unregister that you will lose your ticket. All tickets expire 24 hours from the time they are granted.

Apparently WSOP thinks they'll be adding Michigan and PA to the combined player pools with NJ/NV in time for the WSOP...

Hi all. I'm planning on playing one of the wsop events in nj. I will be staying at the Borgata. I plan on using my mobile hotspot and my data plan is about 5GB. Would this be enough to play in a tournament?

Just one tournament? Yes.

Weekend? I’d probably update my usage

Hello everyone. I will be in NJ for about a week later this month, and I'll be looking to play on some of the state's sites probably 2 of the days I'm there. I've never played on any of NJ's sites before. I definitely plan to play on PS. Outside of PS, which site would you guys recommend if I decide to make a second account? I'm assuming it would be BetMGM or WSOP. I play MTTs in the $33 to $109 range.

Thanks

Anybody have experience playing on wsop from the Hampton inn pennsville? It's right across Delaware/NJ border. Does the wifi work? Can I use a cell phone as an access point for my laptop?

Do you prefer to use HUDs? WSOP banned HUDs.

In terms of tourneys, betMGM has daily $100s but the turnout is only ~100 entries on weekdays. Most of the tournaments are more like 180mans

WSOP def had the bigger liquidity

I have been using WSOP for 3 years now without issue. Recently when playing, I will get a pop up saying that they are unable to confirm I am located in the state of NJ (which I clearly am). It then says "This appears to be a technical problem. Please contact our customer service department so we can help you resolve this problem" ..... Then, as soon as I close the popup, I can just continue playing. It pops up I would say once every 30 minutes or so. Has anyone else had this issue? I want to reach out to customer service but then again I don't want to make this into an issue where my account gets frozen for whatever reason.

Yeah I had that happen. Restarted comp and it stopped.

I prefer using a HUD, but can play without one. I ended up getting accounts on Stars and BetMGM verified, so played on those two sites. WSOP.com would not verify my account because the driver license I had at the time of my trip was brand new, and printed on paper from the DMV. Even though I was willing to submit utility bills and Social Security card, they wouldn't verify me. Pretty disappointing because I was hoping to play some of the online circuit series on WSOP.

They run supers (hypers) and reg speeds up to 200's, but all the husngs run infrequently. During Covid I sat the reg speed 100's and 50's for 12 hours a day and a good day would see thirty games run. The traffic's gone down considerably since then too. The supers run more often but they're raked at 5% just like the reg speeds. That said the site is very soft. 15-20% is probably sustainable in the reg speeds pre-rakeback.

Cross-Post from the Nevada thread:

Does anyone know if card catcher programs are legal and in line with WSOP.com's TOS? I know HUD's are prohibited, and that Multi-tabling software is allowed, but I'm not clear on whether or not card catchers are permitted. If they are, can anyone recommend one? To be clear the point is to record hands for database analysis later, not to develop a workaround to have a HUD up and running.
