Hello there 2+2!

I'm mainly making this thread in hopes of resolving my current issue but also to get more insight into whether this has happened to other people as well.

So 3 years ago I started playing poker on a site only for people in my country but as zoom poker and higher stakes attracted me more I eventually switched to Pokerstars. After playing for about half a year around 2-2,5 years ago I withdraw my money on stars (after big downswing) to try to go back to my old site. When I then was going back to stars a second time I was unable to log in due to a freeze made on my account.

As I've heard a million times before from other grinders that have encountered blocks and freezes they started asking for ID, bank statements, etc. After sending sensitive information to them for a long time (long breaks in between but about 10 times in total) they eventually accepted some of my information and proceeded to tell me why they had frozen my account and told me the account was closed. The reason behind the freeze and eventually the closing was that I "was in close association with players: ***** and *****".

Now, I have never seen these names before and I have never done anything illegal so for me to receive this after fighting for this about 2 years I got frustrated and have been ever since. Note that I have nothing against stars even though the situation has been poorly handled. All I want is to be able to play on your site and I am unable to because of accusations that are not true.

Since the last email they sent me, I have sent probably 6 more emails on a period of 2 weeks and none of them have received a response.

PLEASE if you are a stars employee or has some sort of connection to stars employees all help is appreciated.

any help/comment/whatever is helpful and appreciated.

Very simple, they think you may be associated with players they don't want playing on their site and don't want you playing there either as a result. It sounds from how you've worded it that they don't have any of your money, as such it's probably best to move on to a site with decent support, I mean they might have got to your response quicker if they didn't need to work through six times as many emails as necessary, but it's certainly not going back to what it used to be

So you're basically saying even though I haven't done anything wrong, I will be unable to play on their site for the rest of my life?

What was the reason you wanted to leave your "old" site and go back (again) to Stars?
Weren't you afraid of another downswing?

So I was just at the beginning of my career and even though people had talked about downswings, I didn't fully understand what they meant. When I wanted to switch back to Pokerstars the second time it was probably because of a downswing on the other site.

Also, the other site didn't allow for Softwares that store and sort hand history and so in order to developed and become better by studying my game I figured I had to switch to something else.

Nowadays the reasons are different. Basically the site with the lowest rake in my country (by far) and one of few that still support these kinds of Softwares.

(with software I'm referring to Holdem Manager)

Did you at all determine how or why they think you were associated with those accounts?

Transfers/IP addresses/physical addresses/any other way?

Start there.

Nope, no idea why :/
They continuously wanted me to prove ownership of a card I use to have. Think it all had to do with me putting money into PokerStars with a card and took it out with another. (the reason for this was my card was lost and replaced by a new one).

I have proven the ownership of the card, they kinda didn't accept the pictures though, and after time went by the bank removed the card from their system. So now it's impossible to prove it with a new statement.

This, however, doesn't make any sense as to why they would accuse me of being in "close association" to someone else.

I have tried to get in contact with them ever since the closing but they don't answer me. Don't know how to get in contact with them else than this.

Look, there is no way PokerStars data are not correct! It's like math,it never lies! If they have details about some association then for sure they are! So think again about your history data and maybe you'll find something.

It's a private company so they can deciede what customers they want.
