Hi All,

Made a new account to protect my identity.

I am posting today to warn you all what a scam that Carbon Poker is running.

I requested a check, took a while to process. In the meantime my life got really overwhelming and chaotic and I had to move and get a different job. Forgot about the pending Carbon check since they usually take 1-3 months to even process, let alone arrive.

Anyway, about a month in, I get locked out of my Carbon Poker account. I send an email and get no reply for a week or so. I can't get back in. Life gets really crazy again and I'm on the road a lot and this gets pushed onto the back-burner because I mean really, who has time to sit around and worry when a check will arrive?

Long story short, when I can finally get back into my account 3 months later, they have sent the check to my old address. The old address was an apartment building who sent the check back to Fedex after I wasn't there to receive it. Okay, all good, nothing wrong yet at this point.

Then, I call Fedex and they tell me that Carbon instructed them to destroy the check once it was sent back to Fedex.... They never made any attempt or email to contact me, just messaged me on my account which I was locked out of.

Now, I am finally back into the account and have talked to Fedex and the old apartment building and Carbon is telling me that they are "sorry for the inconvenience" and there is nothing that they can do for me.

Excuse me but... INCONVENIENCE????

YOU MEAN STEALING MY MONEY??? OH, thats what you mean.

Yep, after many emails back and forth with the poker room manager, he refused to do anything for me, not even credit the funds back into my account.

So get this right guys, if you don't get the check right away they will look to destroy it and not pay you!!! Total ***** bull**** and absurd and I want people to know they are running a really shady operation that doesn't care one bit about the players. They were cold and hard and made no attempt to rectify the situation despite the fact that NO CHECK WAS CASHED. NO PERSON WAS PAID!!! Yet.... nothing they can do. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Who's with me in Boycotting this bull**** operation and spreading the word?

Based on one person's story? Probably very few people who are currently playing there.

I'd suggest that you instead concentrate your efforts on trying to escalate this; hopefully you haven't given up.

The reason we have the policy is for us to be able to do something as we only have that period of time to handle any issue and in this case you contact us 3 months after, we have reviewed this on all levels and unfortunately there is nothing that we can do.

I vaguely remember Paulgees tweeting about this exact scenario a few months ago. I think he was able to get it resolved after a few weeks, maybe try get in touch with him?

I usually suspect the whole story is not unveiled but in your case it seems like they are hiding behind a policy that is absurd and needs changing. It seems that the only thing we can learn is that we need to be careful when requesting checks so if nothing else thank you for educating the community. No real advice to offer other than go Bitcoin in the future if you still plan on playing online poker in the US. Sorry his happened. I have had 5 figures robbed over time so you are not alone.

I still don't understand why you think you need to protect your identity.

Ya really makes no sense? all it does it make your story seem less legit (not saying it isn't). I would def keep talking to support or asking for higher ups or anyone possible that will listen. You got nothing to lose by continuing attempts at getting your money back.

Very surprised to see there is no chatter here about the big drop in bitcoin value today. I received my 7/18 request this morning and by the time I woke it had already lost $50. I have since taken more of a loss and decided to finally send what I had left to the bank after seeing the value price continue to drop as I type. If you look at the lifetime value of Bitcoins coupled with all the worrying news around it today and the introduction of the alternative currency Ether, the price seems destined to drop back down to its median point of $350 or so possibly. A Bitcoin was worth $655 last night and now it's $530. The following is the lifetime graph when it was still at $572 earlier.


I could be completely wrong and it could surge back up within a few days. It's also supposed to be a currency that will appreciate in value overtime unlike the dollar. But I decided it was time to clear my Bitcoin wallet. The site I used was lagging really hard as well. To the point where it was freezing and not processing my bank cash out request multiple times. You could tell they had heavy traffic from people cashing out and those brave enough to buy incase of a spike and those just monitoring the market. I had decided to take a shower before making the cash out as well and by the time I cleaned up, the value had already dropped another $20. What a great time/way to receive a poker withdrawal.

I just did my first Bitcoin withdrawal on Sunday and noticed the price drop dramatically tonight. My first thought would be to cancel the pending withdrawal but what are your thoughts on this? I have been lurking on here seeing most BtC withdrawals take about 2 weeks is that a reasonable time frame through Carbon?

What will cancelling the withdraw do?

If you request a 1k cashout they give u 1k in btc when they send it.

Once u have the 1k in btc u can do whatever u want with it. Sell it if you don't want to face major fluctuation. Or hold onto it and it can either go up or down
