According to Carbon:

Quote:
It was a decision that Carbon management made to streamline and improve their customer support and they aren't leaving because they're upset with TwoPlusTwo in any way

Weird way to improve customer support.

Not worried. Just sucks that a good subforum is gone.

Pretty close to zero....

Closing a sponsored forum does not = bust. US payouts are as fast as they have been since about May 2011. That is hardly the sign of a company in distress.

It can however mean they don't want to deal with the backlash of gutting their vip program or any other unpopular changes on a public forum. They've been slowly stripping it bit by bit and my guess is they're gonna rip off the band-aid.

They accidentally closed rebuys and addons after the first break while still allowing late registration for another 30 minutes, sadly I've seen this before.

Getting rid of the support forums inorder to improve support is nonsense. In the forums someone could ask a question, a Rep could answer it, then we could all see the response. Now the same question will need to be answer over and over again. That's a huge waste of time and manpower. If improving customer support was this important to them they would have fixed the emails months ago.

Also they could have gotten rid of the subforum but maintained a support thread in the general internet forums like most of the other poker sites do. So now PokerHost has a thread but Carbon doesn't? It doesn't make sense to me that they would leave 2+2 altogether.

Speaking purely in the realm of speculation, I can't help but think that Carbon is leaving the Merge Network. It might not be such a bad thing if they were to join WPN. That would be one great poker site.

Carbon might not see it as worth it. Bovada doesn't have a rep (Bodog does, but not the same), and other sites don't as well. The cost of hiring cheap labor to answer questions again and again or have community member/Poker Host answer them might be better form a business sense.

CarbonChris seems like he was already doing a lot of other stuff, as well as CarbonRyan, so now they can focus solely on what other responsibilities they were supposed to have. People like Kahn are still here to answer anything we need them too, and that might be good enough for sure. I think suggesting they are moving to a new network is pretty out there, you might be right, but I think it's hard to make that connection yet.

I've not heard of disconnects @ Carbon. Perhaps you're confused and thinking of the WSOP that just opened today?

It seems like a forum has to be much more efficient than having customer service reps answer the same questions, over and over, hundreds (maybe thousands) of times via email and chat.
They used to have a Carbon forum on their website , looks like it's been closed as well.

Perhaps you're confused as I was responding to Santa Cruz speculating on Carbon moving to WPN.

If you mean is WPN the network; they are. But back into the realm of speculation, maybe the servers going down was due to them being upgraded in preparation for Carbon's arrival. Who know? It's just that this doesn't make sense to me so I'm leaving myself open to all options. At any rate though, the WPN outage is certainly not the norm for WPN.

I almost shudder to say this but it isn't impossible that MichelleLee is partially right. There could be some changes that are about to happen that we aren't going to like. The Free Seats Giveaway has been a major promotion for a long time. It seems to have ended mid month even though it had been specifically named as a September Promotion. When I mentioned it in the September promotions thread, I got no response. CarbonRyan generally responded to my posts, but not that one.

I think there will be changes we don't like, but I think that's more because they are moving towards a rec model, grinders don't matter as much as what we want to think.

The part that makes me nervous is the abrupt departure. Ryan liked to tout the great CS and how responsive they were. And he did deal with a lot of flack from all of us. So they had to know what kind of response this was going to get. Hell, he would even tell us when he was on vacation so the lynch mob stayed at bay. If they gave at least a small statement saying they were leaving, then it would sit better. Instead, with the sudden closing of the sub-forum, I am reminded of RPM. They may not be as shady, but I still get "that feeling."

I have "that feeling" also as a RPM refugee

I can live with most anything except crappy software and disconnects. Well, hello. That's what I've been doing anyway. And will continue. As long as crappy software and disconnects are not an issue.

Not certain, but I thought that the Free Seats giveaway is temporarily being replaced by the Maximus freerolls.

Huh? I'm choosing a part of the VIP Program and betting it's gonna be gone on the 1st purely based on their decision to close their forum. You said $50 and I said 3/1 for $500 and somehow you take that as a lack of confidence lol?

Nice read

For the people who actually have $1500..the bet is open.
