wowowowow. that's fantastic to know some people will he held accountable.

I'd imagine based on that the sheer volume/ total amounts were huge or he had a long string of other stuff in his past.

Cliffs of my involvement in the investigation with Matsch:

In late 2008 he contacted me wanting to swap money between poker sites. I posted earlier in this thread summarizing these swaps (one completed successfully, one halted when I realized he was a scammer). My suspicions came from him wanting me to send to a different account and some fishy sounding story that got me to google some of his names/aliases, where I found several threads on different sites of people saying he is a scammer.

That lead me to dig a little deeper into this person. At the time I was Operations Manager at LeggoPoker.com and handled payments and several back-end operations for the site. His subscription payment to the site bounced and I was notified of the problem. He paid using a PayPal account that reversed the transaction. In looking into why, it became quite clear that he made a fraudulent transaction from an unauthorized account. I contacted the owner of the PayPal account who notified me that her account had been hacked and this person had been making various charges to her account. I explained what I knew and offered my assistance in any investigation that she may pursue with the authorities. Also I obviously made sure the transaction with LeggoPoker was reversed and she was refunded.

I posted various warnings and information on this forum and others, including Leggo, in an effort to protect our customers as he was trying to scam others by not sending his end of transfers or by sending fraudulent funds that would eventually be reversed (but by that point he had transferred it through someone else who would eventually be stuck). During this time I was contacted by several people from this forum and elsewhere who were victims to Matsch who had found me in searches and wanted help. I provided as much information as I felt comfortable with (I don't provide sensitive information such as addresses, birthdate, phone numbers, IP address, etc which I had acquired through LeggoPoker's admin center) and told everyone that I would provide all information to any officer/investigator.

A police investigator in Wisconsin in his hometown contacted me in early 2010 who was investigating Matsch and gathering evidence to charge him. He had found me on Leggo and 2p2 and asked me various questions. He was unfamiliar with online poker or how he operated his scams and so I spoke with him for quite some time explaining what I knew. I forwarded him all records, information, conversations I had relating to Matsch and answered several questions. I was listed as a witness and victim (Leggo technically is a minor victim in the case) and was notified of the progress of the case against him.

The investigator told me he was involved in multiple other scams, namely through Craigslist and similar sites, non-poker related.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer what I can. I am not positive what is public and what is not as it pertains to the actual trial and I would rather be safe than sorry, so I may choose to ignore some of the more specific stuff.

Good job in helping getting him convicted.

Out of curiousity, what were the exact felonies he was charged with and the total amounts of the money involved (not sure if you know the answers).

i just did a quick search for public information on him and he has several past court cases (mostly for minor things) that are available publicly on the WI courts page. ongoing cases like his current one are private and he is "presumed innocent" until closed according to the WI courts website.

when i receive notice that the case is over i will post an update with whatever info i can.

I didnt follow this story back when it was posted, but I caught up looking through this thread when it was bumped to get caught up to speed.

KUDOS To you Sir!

Lets hope that this is the first in a long line of these F'ers getting their just desserts!

People think that just because they are online they can get away with crap with this "barrier" between them and their victims.

Awesome job OP!

This just made my day. Pretty sure I was scammed by one of his aliases. Never been a vindictive person, but I hope he becomes someone's bitch in prison.
