Okay so am I being penalized for winning? I mean I tried to play today and it says "We are sorry but your account is limited to lower stakes" I went on a 1/2 NL euro table ffs. Then I checked even the lowest stakes and I was locked out all together from any cash game.

This is the email I received and all I can say is this serious?? LOL. The amount of players they will lose is crazy.

If you are not already aware iPoker will be implementing a new policy in the New Year which will categorise players depending upon certain criteria. The new policy will also impose penalties upon card rooms that in essence, have a high proportion of winning players in relation to losing players.

Regrettably therefore, we are being forced to restrict a number of accounts in order to comply with the new policy and to avoid penalisation by iPoker and it grieves me to inform you that we have no option for the time being other than to restrict the cash game stakes at which you can play on Victor Chandler Poker.

We sincerely regret having to take this action and hope that the policy will change in the future so that you may once again enjoy playing cash games at Victor Chandler Poker. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this action will cause but know that you can still play in our tournaments and on any other of the Victor Chandler suite of products.

according to their license conditions they are meant to be in control of the entire business, which they clearly aren't if ipoker decide (or implement a policy that has that effect) who can play on the site.

banning winners is just so god damned shady.

iPoker fine the skins if they break certain rules to do with money flowing into the skin from the rest of the network. iPoker don't stipulate that the players have to be banned, the skins ban them because they don't want to be fined.

this is aslo a bull**** policy and the rules stem from that. f i poker for that. each player pays rake so what does it matter if certain sites have cashouts more than others? there all generating rake.

It is because sites like Carlos Poker, NoIQ Poker, VC Poker, Hansa Poker all spent no money at all at advertising to pull in new money and weak players to iPoker, but gave out illegal high rakeback deals (60%+), cannibalizing the other skins in the network that do advertise to bring in fish, taking the high rakers away from them.

This is clearly terrible for a network: it forces the "good" skins to spend less on advertising and more on rakeback, creating a network where no new fish is coming in and skins are making tiny profits due to the high rakeback, causing them to advertise even less.

So iPoker created rules that if the sum of all withdrawals by players at a skin is X larger than the sum of all deposits, the skin gets fined. It is the skins decision to fix this by kicking players, instead of advertising to find fish and create a healthier network.

Don't play at dodgy sites/networks that have rubbish policies that bring down the whole industry.

It is utterly obvious that if Ipoker was running a reputable franchise they would insist that each skin spent x% of rake on advertising/promotions instead of this idiotic policy.

I really hope that the VC players complain to the Gib regulator on the grounds that VC should make it clear on their promotional material that winning will not be tolerated.

Yes they do, so? As long as they are bringing in fish, it is good for the network (and the players... We don't want an entraction-style nitfest!)

This is pretty much the same policy, only more fair: it enforces exactly and only the thing that matters to the rest of the network: money flow. The network does not care if you spend money on advertising, they care if you are parasiting on the network or not. As a player I'm happy with this policy, even if it would mean that from now on we'd get 50% rakeback instead of 60%, with the other 10% being spent on bringing in new fish.

i think the problem is the ilegal rakeback deals not the winning players.

just think if word gets out about this and new players think "you are not allowed to win at ipoker so why bother even signing up there?" that has to be bad for business.
