So on the FTP Stud Hi heads up tables it seems there is something wierd going on and im wondering what your thoughts on this are.
From the $15/$30 heads up tables down to the $3/$6 HU tables there are ALWAYS about 6 or 7 guys getting no action. It's generally the same people. They are literally there 24/7 never playing anyone i am wondering if anyone else thinks these are just people running bots all day long? Possible it's even the same person just running the bot from a different location. Notice how they all buy in for the exact same amount at each level as well.
I could be completely wrong here and if i am then i am sorry if you think i am acusing you of anything. I am just really curious and have wanted to make this thread for a while because its always been on my mind how these same people sit and the same tables all day long with no action.
I think if they were bots though that FTP probably would have busted them by now but i still just dont understand whats going on here. Any clarification as to whats happening is appreciated.
Thanks.
Note: I am not posting this because i have lost any amount of money to these people as i have never even played stud.
I've noticed this and I do think there are a lot of stud bots online probably, it's got to be one of the most ideal games for making a bot for. A friend of mine used to play a lot of stud8b HU SNGs on stars and was convinced these 2 similar usernames who were on about 12 hours a day between them were bots but stars said they weren't. I think I read a thing too about a year about by that pokermafia dude (george something?) saying he had stud bots running on some euro network making a ton.
So I mean I have no clue, but I don't think this is that unlikely, if I was gonna make a bot I'd probably do a stud one, the only real downside to one is the lack of action and games running usually.
Every time I play at FT I try to make sure there is a live player there at HU. I've never been able to think otherwise. They are always there right away to answer even the dumbest q.
I cross-posted this in the Stud Forum, where you may get some better answers.
Although I play a lot of stud at FTP, I've never played at any of the HU tables and don't really pay much attention as to who is sitting at them.
Just like in LHE, I suppose if one were going to have a stud bot, it would be more effective in HU games than in ring games. Because of all of the variables in stud ring games, I would think that once you figured out the bot's pattern of play it would be fairly easy to exploit. Obviously, this would take some time. Therefore, perhaps a stud bot would be a bigger threat in a stud tournament situation?
I have seen accusations of botting tossed around in stud games at various poker sites over the last three years that I have been playing, and even filed a complaint of suspected botting in stud ring games at Interpoker about two years ago (which was investigated as "inconclusive," but the suspected botter mysteriously stopped playing shortly thereafter). But since I started playing on-line, I only know of one case at PS in which a stud bot was actually identified, caught and banned.
