the Sunday storm today is a 1,000,000 guarantee. Late reg is over and there are only 64, 000 entries who paid 11.00. The tournament crashed but others are still running. Could they be such bastards that they kill the tournament to avoid paying out the million.

Are they not paying? Usually, they do some kind of ICM chop or whatever of the full prize pool.

If they cancel the tournament, they still have to pay out the million. If a tournament started and is cancelled before ITM (as would be the case here) - 50% of the pool is paid out equally to all remaining players, and 50% according to chip stack. It's in their rules.

"Roll Forward (No Players in the Money): If a tournament is cancelled and we do a 'roll forward' before the players are in the money, we refund each remaining player his tournament fee (and knockout bounty if appropriate), and then divide up the prize pool based on the following formula: 50% of the award pool is distributed evenly among all remaining players, and 50% of the award pool is distributed proportionally according to the chip count."

No way they would do anything other than roll forward when it's already so close to the money.

We'll have to wait and see. Sometimes they just start up again after a while. But when I've seen that before it's been every tournament which has broke. Seems suspicious that it's just this one.

Interesting... how often does Stars fall short of the guarantee like this? Sign o' the times? Or a rarity that is just as uncommon as it was 10 years ago?

They are A LOT Scummier than you can imagine. This is nothing compare to some of the shadiest stuff they have been pulling. Pay attention to the knockout tournaments to get an idea....

It could have crashed because there are so many entries. I do not see how they cannot pay.

It crashed 10 mins before the end of late reg facing a 400k overlay and pretty sure terms and conditions state they now don't have to pay out the overlay, hard not to think the worst here

Often when tournaments crash its been buggy before hand and laggy etc but it was running absolutely smoothly as is every other tournament, just that one suddenly froze out of nowhere

It may be in their rules but who know if they pay out right. They could pay out based on what was collected (650,000) and no one would ever know. there is 20,000 players left so it would have to average $50.00.

My table has magically started up again. What a joke.

Did the blinds increase while it was frozen?

Unfortunately, we have experienced technical issues with the Sunday Storm Anniversary which will result in its cancellation. The tournament will be rolled forward and the guarantee will be paid out.

But the game is rolling on my table now lol, got a shove through and then it paused again

Reminds me of Black Friday, when the DOJ warning page had propagated all around yet some people were still logged on their clients and playing for hours after.

Okay, maybe not exactly the same, but perhaps the same concept.

Our table played one hand after the big hang; I had blinded down to 11BB whilst the clock kept running and was in the BB. Dealt AQ and lost a flip to 88. Will be pissed if I don't get paid something back for that.

Who wants to guess which 17 new players were added while this whole debacle about technical isues were going on??

There were 64600 entries at the time when the tournamnet was paused....then when it started up again....mysteriously there were 64617.

Now if they have simply paid out based on the chip stacks....how do we know those 17 entries were not inserted to siphon the money??/

OK they cancelled it. I wonder if i got paid based on 1 million or 650,000?

There were 64,600 entries (stacks started at 10,000).

When the tournament crashed I had 64,600 chips. I got $72.00. There were 20,548 people left. Average stack was 31,438. I am sure there is someone on this site that can do the math based on what Porker Stars publishes it should be obvious if I was paid based on entries or a million.

For interest anyone who survived got 26.83 and the big stack got around 203.
