Hello 2p2,

I am a regular on Pokerstars 100z (B.Burlamaqu1) and I recently got banned from the site for no reason. Stars doesn’t answer my mails and they also don’t give any reasoning.

Story in short:

Guy from a Casino where I am grinding owed me money and wanted to pay back with Pokerstars Player Transfer. Some Time after he sends from four different accounts (I had no idea he will do that) Stars bans me. I am a regular professional player for years and I have no reason to do anything bad on the site. I also know from him that he got banned and send me all the mails/documents etc. that he exchanged with stars. For some reason, they made the connection that him=me I think. They told me this: “Therefore the Stars 'B.Burlamaqu1' Account will be permanently closed and the available balance will be reversed to the accounts that made the transfers, to cover part of the losses generated from the fraudulent activity. ”They told me that the accounts which I got money from are connected to “fraudulent activity” and they basically assume I am part of it. They told me that they are not a bank (I always assumed transferring money to each other is no big deal).

I am shocked by the investigation team for not having any discussion. I also asked if they could call me but they refuse to give any more explanations and put me into the Ignore-Mail-Folder basically. I also wrote Pokerstars Keith on 2p2 and he told me he will ask someone to look into the situation but nobody came back to me or helped me. I think I am innocently put into a category here by them and that’s why I go public with it. If necessary I can quote all the mails etc. (didn’t want to spam the thread yet).

Can someone from Pokerstars please help me?

You may not be guilty of anything, but you are not innocent.
Go get the money from the guy that caused you the problem.

Yeah they are not letting you back. Being related to a banned account is basically the same thing if you break the rules yourself. Stars is not taking any chances that the banned account could access stars again.

Sorry man, its over. I got banned from stars because someone from my floor of the university dorm I lived in (each floor had a common wifi) 4 years ago got themselves banned. Not only will Stars not tell me the account name of the person or what they did, but they refused to let me plead my case and eventually just stopped responding to my emails all together.

Just move sites and let that pile of garbage burn out.

How much have you raked on stars lifetime (roughly), and in last 12 months?

Usually they dont ban regs for this sort of thing, but receiving from 4 accounts does not look great

From what you describe, it doesn’t seem unreasonable for PokerStars to make the decision that they made. However, if you disagree with them, you can always appeal against their decision and ask for them to reverse it.

True, but it's not his fault. Who the f sends money from 4 different accounts? I am guessing the odds of someone sending from 4+ accounts to pay a debt has to be very close to 0. I haven't heard of it and I sent money and received money from hundreds of accounts (staking). You shouldn't wreck someones account because some other guy is an idiot, which happens.

I hope for the best OP, I think you have a valid case and that there is a decent chance they might allow you back.

Send an email to their licenser of Stars explaining everything and leave a link to this thread at the bottom, Send Stars another email mentioning your involvement with their licenser and show them this thread. Call Stars at some point, not sure how long you should wait? 2-10 days?

Get the other guy to email/call stars to take full blame - not sure how much this one will help? If he is a total ****ing idiot don't have him call or email, it will only hurt your chances.

Be composed and polite in all your correspondences. GL

You sent and received transfers from hundreds of accounts for staking purposes. He likely received 4 transfers from 4 linked accounts, all funds related to fraud. Those are not quite identical patterns.

He may be a deeply naive, clueless person with how the world works (they certainly exist and their lack of common sense creates situations like this for them), however someone who was involved in the fraud would also likely use the "I did not know" line as he has as well.

He essentially behaved exactly like someone involved in a fraud, so it will be more difficult for him to talk his way out of it, and odds are slim that he can talk dude #2 to do what you say (and even if he does - dude #2 is hardly the model of honesty).

Stars seems to take a hard line approach with these types of issues, as they did with me. Everything I did to try and argue my case fell on deaf ears and eventually was ignored. I didn't even receive fraudulent funds or have any in game contact with the account I was "linked" to, yet Stars doesn't care.

Have been playing with/against Bernard since April 2016 on Stars, definitely a legitimate reg who played probably hundreds of thousands on hands so Stars should have data that confirms he's not just running some kind of money laundering/fraud scheme. It seems to me that PS are just abusing their position of power, and it sucks because we need to expect accountability from poker operators who simply provide livelihood for many poker players. Also if this case just dies in Stars "investigation" this creates a dangerous precedent where they just can nuke your account with no reasoning provided.

They have provided a reason. Op account is related to the banned one and they take zero risks that the banned account might access stars again.

Abusing their position of power to what end? So that they can lose the business of a regular customer?

There was reasoning provided, but even if there wasn't, no precedent is being set, because Stars can already refuse his, or yours, or anyone else's business.

Seems me his friend steals credit cards makes an account plays and wins money then sends to his account where they split profits. Duh

Eurgh, this is going to happen to me too I think. I have been trading WPN for stars with a guy I have on skype and he sent from multiple different accounts. I foolishly didn't worry about it too much, assumed it was via horses or friends and just sent once I'd received.

Got an e-mail asking me to explain my relationship to the accounts. Which I have in detail, and included skype chat screencaps organising the trades. I have a bunch of other trades done throughout the time I've been dealing with him and none of them were flagged.

I actually included other trades with him they missed in my response e-mail figuring I didn't do anything wrong and have nothing to hide. Not sure if that will help me or not.

So I guess gg me too.
