Pokerstars doesn't seem to be any good for creating a tournament for friends as far as I can see?

Cheers
WPN, then email them you want a private tournament and it's done in 24 hrs

I just downloaded from Pokerstars.net, and creating a home poker club was very easy. You then have to invite your friends, but once they have all joined it looks like it will be very easy to set up tournaments or cash games.

Running some homegame MTT with friends in the play money section using venmo(non legal state). Last night we had 18 players but it divided us into 3 separate tables to begin before combining tables after the 1st or 2nd level (9-handed). Any way to avoid this?

I am asking what people are using to support their home games to virtual spaces.

We are using PokerStars but there isn't a way to have extra time (once in a while), chips are not that flexible, seating is limited to 8, rake is annoying.

what are others using?

thanks,
spwemonkie

Thanks for the recommendations people.

A few of my mates are self excluded from Pokerstars (as well as pretty much every gambling network) so that wasn't really an option. WPN was a bit complicated and I couldn't get it working with the skins etc so after trying Pokerrr 2 which also didn't work for us as you need to have facebook apparently, we settled on Pokerbros last night.

We sorted the cash ourselves rather than using the in house facility but I thought I'd mention that it worked perfectly for what we needed.

There were 12 of us playing and it split us into 2 tables then a final table just how you would. There's also a surprising number of features that you can tweak when setting up a tournament so it should work for most groups. The blinds are set to go up every 3 minutes, change that to 10 or something.

Cheers

Hi,
What site offers free online home games? I mean totally free, no costs at all. Trying to set up a tournament with friends using play money.

I don't know if I am able to join my friends Play Money Home Game on Stars. Since I am in Pennsylvania, I seem to only be able to use the PA software. No matter what I seem to do, it always directs me to the PA site. My friends are not in PA. Would love to play with them, if possible. Can't use phone app either.
I will ask Stars eventually, but thought I might get a quicker answer here. Thank you!

I don't know - but I would send them an email. I was curious about whether the mobile app allowed the Play Money Home Games, and they responded to my email within a day. The answer was no, which sucked, but at least they answered. I'm guessing they would rather answer this type of question rather than the ones where people have had their account frozen

Hi all,

I came here looking to share a spreadsheet I put together to allow people to play Play Money CASH (not tournaments) Home Games on PokerStars for real cash. It converts chips to dollars and refunds the massive rake they take back to each player. It also allows you to track results if people join, leave, rejoin, sit out, etc..

Then I see there is no way to add attachments...Any thoughts on how I can share this work I've done with the Poker community?

There is no way to upload/share files on 2+2.

I guess if it's something that doesn't have a commercial angle, you could share somewhere like GoogleDocs and post the link.

Anybody figure out how NJ players can log into the free PokerStars site? Pokerstars is perfect for our home game and everyone is happy with it. However we have 1 friend that lives in NJ and he keeps getting re-directed to the NJ pokerstars money site. We really want to get him in this game. I've emailed PS but I get auto response saying they are not answering questions at this time.

Hey Everybody

I haven't played online poker in years mainly because I was awful and would lose a load of money.

However in lockdown here in the UK myself and my friends are missing our weekly home games.

Can anybody recommend an online platform which is good for setting up private online tournaments?

Many thanks for any help in advance.

Hello,

You know how you can have a home game with buddies where there is no rake? Is there any online client or program where me and my friends can do essentially the same thing? Ideally it would:

1. Host a table that can be password protected for joiners
2. No rake on the play money or whatever "chips" the program uses

Essentially, if a bunch of friends who regularly play together wanted to play online because of coronavirus, and have it essentially be like an online version of a home cash game or tourney, what would be the best way to facilitate that with an online client?

I've read through the stickied threads and couldn't find anything pertinent to this question.

Are there any websites where we can use to play fun cash table/tournament with my friends?

We do not want to play on Pokerrrr 2. Pokerstars Home is no chance for us since we live in NJ.

Pokerbros is still working really well for me and my mates. We've played twice a day over the last week. People just transfer me the money and I redistribute the Winnings. Would definitely recommend for those still asking the question.

First time poster and any help you can provide would be great .

Because of COVID we are trying to play online, a few people have chromebooks(that's a lie, its only me) and we can't download pokerstars.

Are there any other options such as Full Tilt that could have cross play of Mobile against people on their computers? And hopefully these options can support cash games?

Thank you for any help!

Buy table top simulator on steam. You can even play rakefree there.

Pokerstars Home Games rakes the play money but every 6 hours or something you can add play money again for free. Been playing tons of these with friends online and have had no issue. Just remember to top up if your not cashing.

I'd be interested in the spreadsheet you've created Greg (turtleman) - a google docs link would be much appreciated

I have the exact same question.

I tried Pokerstars last weekend and it was god awful. They take a rake on a play money game! Our chips were literally disappearing from the table with no way to turn it off. Absolutely insane.

Maybe or maybe you haven't heard there is a quarantine and some terrible respiratory disease going around...

Anyway, asking for a friend. Maybe or maybe some of his old high school and college friends wanna play pokerstars homegames online with each other. Cash games. This is all great, except the cash games are raked. Not that that's a problem because OF COURSE WE WOULD NEVER GAMBLE ON PLAY MONEY POKER, but if we were to do such a thing, how would we be able to keep track of the amount of rake paid per person, so it could be reimbursed at the end of each session?

So far my friend has tried:

Using HUD

PokerTracker4
PokerCopilot

None seem to work with Pokerstars.net, the play money version.

Any ideas on how to get accurate stats? If I had the statistics of each session, I *excuse me my friend* could pretty easily back out who had paid what amount of "play money rake". any ideas appreciated.

Terps

And yes, I used the search, absolutely nothing worthwhile unfort.

I couldn't find a good alternative to stars so will just have to do a quick chip count every couple of hours or when someone leaves and then it'll just be a matter of comparing chips that should be in play and the chips actually left in play. The difference then gets split evenly across players - hence losing players get a bit more back than winning players which isn't a bad thing in a 'friendly' home game.

Players with less than 10k can then reload a certain amount for "free" - others will get the credit when cashing out.

Excel is the way to go here.
