If you play enough poker you will at one point or another run worse than you thought was ever possible. If you havent experienced anything like that than you are just a noob so enjoy the run good while it lasts. There was a time I thought I might not ever have a losing month. Ive been playing for years after all and didnt have one yet. It turned out I was just a noob and a very naive one at that with regards to variance and poker in general.

Congratulations. You're human, and possess pattern-recognition skills.
Unfortunately, there are no patterns in lists of random numbers, and you'll lose your mind trying to make sense of them. Correlation does not imply cause, no matter how much your brain tries to rationalize it. Random numbers aren't rational, ldo.

As others have said, as long a term player you'll go through some brutal phases where you think "This is the absolute WORST run of variance I've ever had".
And then you'll experience an even worse one. The pokergods are cruel. Deal with it.

re: The great "Poker is rigged" debate - Collected threads edition

Bill Rini of WSOPcom had two great blog posts about poker being rigged.

http://www.billrini.com/2004/11/30/p...ker-is-rigged/

http://www.billrini.com/2005/09/25/w...is-not-rigged/

I voted that online poker is not rigged ... but I do believe that collusion does exists and that you have to be aware of where and who you are playing with.

Clearly you neither have an innate feeling, nor understand what innate means.

What negative remarks did Tropic make?

Is he complaining that he was complaining about being doomswitched and then got doomswitched?

No, he was complaining about all of the recent changes at merge. Losing VIP points, adding withdrawal fees, table capping winning players. First time I've heard him sound like a riggie...

i blew out the very small BR i had on merge when i cashed most of it out and didn't leave enough on. i was running real good as just a casual player and thought i could build it back up. but anyway, it took exactly 21 days to get paid and there was no fee, provided you didn't cash out again until the next month. 1 free cashout per month and a 4 table max. not a bad deal for a rec like me.

Just curious - do you believe that they have low level CS employees reading all site-related posts made on internet forums and clicking the doomswitch button when they see negative comments; or do you believe that they have high level Managers reading all site-related posts made on internet forums and clicking the doomswitch button when they see negative comments?

If it's the former, don't you think it is absolutely remarkable that no whistle-blower has ever blown the whistle? If it's the latter, how much do they pay these guys?

Also, wouldn't they want to give complaining players the "boomswitch" so they ignore the changes they don't like and stay around generating more rake? All giving them the "doomswitch" is going to do is make them complain on the forums even more and leave the site.

Stop lying. You know no such thing. When you repeatedly get caught saying **** that everyone knows is a lie no one will ever take you seriously or respect anything you ever say. Because of this you are rightfully viewed by as a clown, a liar, and a fool. You should be embarrassed to present yourself to other people this way to be perfectly honest. You are also weak minded and gullible but those flaws are at least understandable and forgivable.

Stop being trolled so easily. Look quickly at his posting history and you will see a person who watches too much poker on TV, follows the behavior of pretty much any "poker celebrity," and posts with a fairly standard low end trolling method. He does not take his posts seriously, so why should anyone else?

He is not a riggie, he is just a poker-a-holic that watches others for their accomplishments. Trolling is pretty much his accomplishment, and given that, it would be nice to see it done in a more professional and effective manner. Trolling people in this thread is too easy at times, so it prevents troll wannabes from ever improving their trollgame.

All the best.

Vegan might just be trolling, but there have been plenty of times on this forum that something seemed like a level and it really wasn't....

We shouldn't underestimate the potential stupidity of humans.

No, they haven't, diffcode. If someone was spending their time doing stuff like that, wouldn't they also make sure riggies like you weren't desperately trying to skew the poll with your multiple votes?

Anyway, I can't see any reason we should allow your screen name, which is obviously only intended to make fun of another poster. This is good news for you, since you can then make another account and vote yet again! Try a non-derogatory screen name next time.

What are you talking about? I do not watch poker on T.V. AT ALL, young man... Thank you for sounding so confident in your post though!

Bobo Fett, how many infraction points am I up to by the way? You did not reply to my PM, sir... I believe that information should be readily available... Unless every mod sends a PM explaining the enfraction and the amount like you do, then I can just look at the last PM and know how many points I have... You are doing a fine job by the way, except when you delete a serious, factual post, but it's ok... I understand...

You can look at your profile (I've provided you with a link, but in future you can click on your name on any post or at the top right of every page where it says "Welcome, Vegan") and then choose the "Infractions" tab. Also, every time you get an infraction you automatically get a PM.

re: The great "Poker is rigged" debate - Collected threads edition

Right so I've now got a larger sample (25k hands) over at 20nl on 888poker, and I'm beating the limit for 5.5bb/100.

Tried firing up 2nl zoom again yesterday though, and guess what? Losing dat money to the jokerstars rig.

I'm starting to wonder why I'm even wasting my time trying to grind up a roll on Stars. They just won't let me win. My EV and hourly is far higher playing 20nl on 888, even though I don't particularly care about hourly at these limits. But hey at this rate I'll probably be able to play 50nl on 888 before I'll even make it to 5nl on Stars because of their joke flops and river cards.

Yes there's bad beats on 888 too. Today I got my KK all in preflop against AQ, only for an ace to hit the flop, gg. But they're at least evenly distributed because the other day I got my JJ all in against AA but hit my set to stack him. There's a reasonable amount of coolers and bad beats but it doesn't favour one person or group and it's not excessive.

This dream of been able to get in 1000 hands an hour at zoom and so easily play 70 or 80k hands a month rather than 30k on 888 is just not worth it. 30k hands on 888 are actually more profitable than 80k on Stars because the RNG will actually let you win rather than taking your money and giving it to the higher VIP status players.

Your posting history outside this thread shows that you are one of those poker celebrity obsessed types. One of the few threads you started was whining about all those annoying "young guns" when you stream poker to watch. Watching it on TV for now includes watching it on your computer, though over time perhaps that expression will change. Nearly all of of your other posts outside this thread are in ones that gossip about players or poker movies. I do like that you trolled the health and fitness forum with a thread, though you were probably semi-serious in it.

Anyway, I am fine with your attempt at trolling with the annoying personality style posts. That is a good way for beginner trolls to start out, however most end their trolling careers at that level. Perhaps you will go beyond, though I doubt it. This thread is the easiest in the world to troll as many of the shills are easy marks, and the ultra crazy riggies just want someone to talk to them, so I do like that you are bringing your routine to other threads (build on your health forum foundation). I just hope you improve your game some, as your style gets boring very quickly.

A riggie who did a much better job of what you are trying to do (he even got me hooked for a while) is the following:

Troll/Martyr Riggie:
