First, a trip in the way back machine...

The other type of lag is "client" lag. This is most common for players who multi-table with a number of 3rd party programs running on less than stellar computers. I'm certainly not saying those are the only people who experience this kind of lag, but they would be the most common. If you experience this kind of lag and haven't tried turning off animation, that would be the first thing I would suggest. We have an even bigger project (as I've mentioned a few times here) underway that I'm hopeful will eliminate this kind of lag.

Why is that interesting today? Well, the "even bigger project" mentioned above is ready! Uh, ready-ish. What's actually ready is a public beta of that project. You can grab it here:

http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/beta

Some of our client programmers have been busy completely re-writing the poker table itself. It looks very similar to the current table, but under the hood it's a whole different ballgame. So if you've had any trouble with the performance of the game that you're sure isn't related to your internet connection (improvements in that area are still coming) I suggest giving this beta a try.

Other things to note about the beta:

1. It installs in a separate directory, so it won't interfere at all with your current installation of FTP.
2. It may fix the sound bug a number of people have complained about in the past (where sounds just stop working).
3. We'll have some special freerolls and prizes for people on the beta (especially for people who submit high quality bug reports).
4. The graphics are very different. This is mostly good news since they're much sharper and prettier in general. It will, however, break all custom graphics and possibly HUDs. So keep that in mind.
5. It's windows only right now. A mac beta should be released within a few weeks.
6. We think it's pretty stable (although we already know of about 200 mostly cosmetic bugs), but seeing as it's a beta, all the standard disclaimers apply: Use it at your own risk, it may explode your machine, you may start receiving more Viagra spam, your grandchildren may think your pockets smell like toffee and almonds, etc, etc...

On to my irregularly scheduled lesson in humility...

1. I guess no update on 13+ iron man members and possible upgrades to that status?

- As many of you have already seen, this happened! More bonus medals for the 13+ month players, as well as two new store items that allow you to buy a continuing month or an "Iron" day. I've seen a little confusion about the continuing month. To clarify, you buy it when you missed qualifying for any level in the previous month. So if you missed February, you can buy a continuing month any time in March and you'll keep the streak alive.

2. it would be nice if FTP could fix the tiling function so it didn't randomize the order every time i tile.

- Agreed. We're going to clean all of that up in the beta first (as well as any remaining chat focus / highlight bet amount issues). If you want to provide feedback on that, sending in a bug report from the beta explaining how you'd most like that to function would help your cause the most.

3. You forget that ftp's definition of soon means in about 8 months.

- Not everyone works in geological terms?

4. i dont think that dialogue boxes should interfere with my other tournaments, do you?

- I don't!

5. For fun, how about some superturbo KO mtts

- We added one last week, and it seems popular. We'll likely sprinkle a few more throughout the day, and maybe even slap a guarantee on one.

6. does that mean you will be doing something about ratholing in NL games? if so i owe you a steak dinner.

- We already do something in NL games. You can't rejoin with less than you left with for a certain amount of time. We're just going to apply that rule to Limit games as well in the next update. Sorry for the confusion, but there won't be any changes to the way it works in NL/PL games for the time being.

7. is there a way to transfer points to someone?

- There isn't, sorry.

8. please comment on $5k wire transfers.

- The first round of testing seems to have gone well. I hear they're going to roll it out to another batch of players soon. If you PM me your FTP name I'll see what I can do about getting 2+2ers on the list. I'll do my best to actually check my PMs!

9. Just curious as to whether FT could offer satellites for the $160 Super Turbo SNG.

- We can't satellite people into a SNG, sorry. The system just doesn't support it. Or rather, it supports doing it once for one SNG, but as soon as it starts and the next one spawns, that one won't have any satellites.

10. Either they have major problems in their software architecture or they've been blowing smoke up our asses and haven't really been working on it.

- There's a third option, I swear!

11. IS SHARKSCOPE HUD PROHIBITED?

YES.

12. O/U on weeks before Doug responds to the questions in these threads?

5 weeks, 2 days. Fermion5 pays the under.

13. Iron Man chip Status: Opted Out Doesn't seem to remove my chip. Now what?

- I believe this has finally been automated properly. Has anyone played around with that setting this month? It should take effect within a couple minutes of opting in or out (and I think you’d have to sit at a new table to see if it’s changed).

14. I was looking through the archives. In the very first Full Tilt Answers, you said you were not in Customer Service. What department do you work in?

- Poker Room Management. Speaking of which, my 2+2 title is totally wrong!

15. I was wondering if Full Tilt would consider allowing us to buy seats at the World Series of Poker with our Full Tilt Points

- No plans for this. WSOP qualifiers start tomorrow, though!

16. Could there be an option to not auto-open tournament lobbies at the start of a new SNG, and just open the table?

- I'll add that to the list of feature requests.

17. Also, can u bold (or otherwise indicate) the tables in the lobby that we are playing on?

- Also added as a new feature request.

18. Can you please allow us to play more tables then 16?

- No plans on changing this at the moment.

19. could you please add some 18 person SNGs to the main tournament lobby?

- I feel like the main tournament lobby is already pretty full of SNGs. I like tournament players being able to see the next scheduled tournament that's about to start easily, and if the first "page" is completely full of SNGs, they have to scroll to see that.

20. Is there any chance you could add an option to view cash games as blinds as opposed to the actual dollar amount?

- We don't have any plans for this, sorry.

21. It took one day to make a page that tracks the progress of the durrrr challenge with graphs and stuff, but I think people have been asking for cash game filters for over a year and they've always been "on their way"?

- The people who put up the durrrr challenge page and the people working on things like cash game filters are not the same people. And no, we can't just switch them.

22. Are there any plans soon for holding your account balance in Euros?

- It's something we'll most likely do in the future, but we aren't actively working on it.

23. Please make the 27 and 45 man non turbo SNGs have antes at a certain point. Very frequently they turn into roulette games because final tables often consist of almost everyone having M's of like 6 due to people bubble humping for half an hour.

- I asked what people thought about that idea for the 45 man SNGs (changing them from 6 minute "SNG" style levels to 5 minute "MTT Turbo" style levels with antes) and the only feedback I got was "they're great the way they are, don't change them." So I didn't. I think the 27 man SNGs probably make sense to stay as "SNG style" no antes, but I'm still open to the 45 man change. You'd have to get more people on your side though before we tested it out.

24. Any plans on the TR website? I know it's technically banned while playing, but is there anything that can actually be done about curbing the way they collect data?

- We do have plans for this, yes.

25. I noticed that FT changed the payout structure in the $24+2 sattys to the $75k (9man SNG). It used to be that first got an entry and second through fourth got cash. Now it's first and second get entries. When did this change?

- It changed when I noticed it was set up wrong. It was always meant to pay 2 seats instead of 1 seat and 3 spots cash.

26. CAN U GET THE ANNOYING ADVERTISMENETS FOR mttS OUT OF THE CHAT?

- Not any time soon. We will likely introduce an option at some point allowing you to not see them, though. Right now they're tied to the same system that sends other important messages that we don't want to allow players to opt out of seeing, so we need to decouple those before we can allow players to opt out of just the tournament messages.

27. Is this what you guys have been wasting your time on? http://academy.fulltiltpoker.com

- It's what some of our content and web guys have been wasting their time on, yes. It has no impact on game or feature development, though. Personally, I think it's pretty cool that it automatically detects when you've completed challenges.

28. MTT's I need a break on ALL tables at once!

- Hmmm.

Doug,

The beta page you linked requires a password to get to, you'll need to have that removed before anybody can give the beta a try.

Ditto. In particular, the Sunday limit Mtt's ($26 and $75) have a large number of people playing both at the same time.

Doug, Before the WSOP about 2 years ago PartyPoker ran a promotion for a week awarding the first X players to reach Y points to exchange them for a WSOP package. I understand their are alot of LOLDONKAMENTS to qualify for such items, but a cash game incentive would be generate alot of money for the site and put good players to represent FT at the event. Plus I would get to see my man crush; feelings. Thanks

Any way we can get the fonts bigger in the HH window, bet sizes etc in a GUI format?

I messed around with the .ini file but it's not labeled all that well.

So the beta addresses table/client lag, as well as hopefully things like datamining from what i discern here. But absolutely no improvements to the GUI? I mean when i open it up it looks EXACTLY the same, no lobby enhancements, tables look the same, and i dont see any difference in graphics except they may be alittle clearer (same avatars, table backgrounds, etc).

Ultimately i really couldnt care about making it prettier, the client lag issues and especially datamining are MUCHMUCHMUCHMUCH more important. But i kind've expected a different/reworked lobby or SOMETHING.

Oh well, i guess beggers cant be choosers. Lets just hope these "under the hood" enhancements do their job.

Darn! It was a solid way to turn tokens into cash.

On account of the FTP Academy: Will buying things from the FTPA store incur a MGR hit?

Doug - Any idea when this will go live? I have a LOT of mods that have to be updated.

Any actual updates, or just improvements in lag only?

Good update. I e-mailed support about the 5-10k wire transfer option and they added it for me and it's worked flawlessly. V happy about that. Thanks

It was also mentioned towards the end of the last long thread that it would be great if there were some way to close all of your tables when quitting a session for good. When I am on like 12 tables and ending it would be really nice to have one click instead of 25.

They are 96dpi instead of 72dpi. There are also (A LOT ) of .SVG files - scaleable vector graphics. Much sharper/crisper. Unfortunately this means all existing ftp custom mods will not work with the new client.

Hey Doug, I'm sure this has been mentioned in previous threads, but the Update I'm most looking for is a button that allows you to "Deal Me In" on all your tables, or "Sit Out" on all tables as well. This would be great for bathroom breaks, and great for when your internet disconnects, and you come back and all your tables are saying "Deal Me In" and it takes 5 mins to get dealt back in on all your tables.

check out ftp shortcuts on the software page. It does this and so much more. For only about $30 it's well worth the price. I'm mad that I waited a year to purchase it

The ironman changes are great, it makes me less jealous of the stars VIP threads. So thank you for that. But even if there isn't solid news could you at least periodically update us on the status of an RSA-Token or similar security feature. I think a lot of us would be happier continuing to play exclusively at FTP if there was some clarity around this issue. Thanks.
