Again, I'm trying to be fair and blame some of this on the fact that it's summer but I've been around the game for a handful of years and this summer is the worst I've seen. The population on these servers is nill late at night and table selection (cash games, obv) is a total non factor. We have WPN here, which we see where it's problems lies. Bovada/Ignition = anonymous and doesn't have a gaming license. No rakeback. BetOnline? You can't even find a 25NL+ 6max running sometimes after midnight. Horizon? It's literally empty. No games. Global? LOL.
With that being the case, I am beyond disenchanted and feel like I would be wasting my time and being less than shrewd if I was to deposit on one of these sites and play again. There just isn't the market for this that there once was and as I've mentioned in other threads: I'm lucky in that I learned how to play Chess really young and picked it back up around the time I started playing poker. Believe it or not, the world of online chess has made a better transition to this extremely electronic/AI based world we're in far better than the world of online poker. Bot/cheat detection is light years ahead of what we have here and the game (globally) is massively more popular.
Still, I have a daily itch to play poker and would almost definitely have settled right into this for the long haul if there was a legitimate, regulated (by anyone), populated market to play the game in. Right now, there isn't.
I have a grand or so sitting in my blockchain right now and every day I contemplate making a deposit and playing again but when I come and view the forums, or take a few hands on WPN (where I still have a few $'s), I see that I'm perhaps just being stubborn and hoping things improve when there's no evidence that they will and only evidence to the contrary.
