[WPT] Unofficial Thread for WPT Poker [WPT] Unofficial Thread for WPT Poker

05-02-2022 , 06:44 PM
Hi all, not seeing any thread for the new brand WPT poker that just launched a few weeks ago, so figured I'd get a thread going here.

I've seen them marketing pretty aggressively on American poker streams (LATB/Hustler live), however they're not available in US. Does anyone know whats going on there? Why would they spend marketing dollars on a region they're not accepting players from?

***

Edit/MH: Please use new thread https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...hread-1836638/ from now on.

Thank you.

So is WPT TV not happening this year? No new season? I know last years "covid" shows weren't true tournaments more cash games. But I've not seen anything new yet all year.

I play there and I have some concerns about it. It looks super soft, but for sure a lot of bots and maybe even rigged site.
I will probably continue playing for some more time to be 100%.
I haven't lost so many big pot in my life in such a short time - most of the time huge favorite when going allin (if I compare it how soft it is and playing one table). It is just ridiculous. And I have been playing online more than 10 years profitably.

Can you only play satalites to real money live tournaments or is there actual real money cash games on it for the USA?

I don't know how it is for USA market.

When I look at the list which countrys are not allowed to play there, I wonder who actually is able to play there lol. And where are the chinese people coming from when it´s not allowed to play from there?
The games are looking pretty wild and good from observing.

@cashgame4ver: Would be nice if you can post your further experience with WPNglobal.

Does anyone know how their smart seating algorithm work? I've seen other websites say no more than 2 winning regs can be at the same table, but is it that simple?

I've seen ~4-5 regs on the same table before. Obviously I don't know for a fact that they are all big winners, but they play a ton of hours each day, and seem to be decent players, so I'd say it's unlikely they arent winning.

Is there a tier system maybe?
Like marginally winning/breaking even regs can play in more games than a crushing 10bb/100 reg

Or is WPT relaxing the restrictions to get more tables going as action seems to be drying up daily and more regs are getting on the site?

How are there so many Chinese names on the site? They just never enforce these location restrictions until you withdraw?

The site didn't launch a few weeks ago, I've been playing there since May last year.

Very rarely see multiple regs at the same table, but I also am never unable to join a table as a big winning player. So either there just aren't enough regs or there are no restrictions.

You wouldn't be able to see that you are unable to join a table. You simply don't see a table at all if you are unable to join, you can't even see it as a full game until enough regs leave. So the fact that you can see & join a table means the "highly skilled player" quota (whatever that is) isn't met for that table.

Ahh I see, I did notice barely seeing any tables anymore at one of the stakes I played at last month, so that's probably the reason.

No clue how that quota works tho, don't seem to ever be locked out at other games where I have a much higher winrate (including higher stakes which are presumably tougher). So It doesn't seem to be based on winrate alone.

The wptglobal is a new skin of poker king which run in my country 5 years ago. And on poker king you got limit table if your winrate is high, that is table in CNY, you can use table change but cant sit in table which is locked. In $ table, i dont see this.
Right now i play 1/2/4(1) CNY in poker king.

It would explain why there are so many Chinese players if there are other skins for the same network. But I thought Pokerking is part of WPN network (ACR)?

Probably he refers to PokerKing Asia, this room: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...ounts-1738982/

I also suggest to change the title of the thread to WPT Global, the full name of the room.

The United States is on the prohibited banned list and they have several players like Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme playing real money, raked cash games and real money raked tournaments it would appear from Texas and other prohibited parts of the United States. How are they allowed to log into their accounts in a prohibited area? Does WPT Global whitelist them and allow them to circumvent geo location security using a vpn? Very suspect

Well it seems they are allowing their American influencers and ambassadors log in and play from within the United States. Not sure logging in and playing in play money games would be much of a legality issue but they are allowed to bypass geo location features in the software (I could not log into a restricted area of my country while travelling), allowed to join and play raked real money cash and tournament games. At least one ambassador has stated they do not withdrawal or deposit from within the USA implying thats ok to play since they just are playing (with WPT Global money) and they are just given a fee for their employment, don’t keep winnings. If this is the case, to me, that means WPT Global is hiring players from restricted areas to log on in these restricted areas and generate rakes for them from restricted areas. In Texas, for example, live poker rooms are illegal unless you apply for a license. If you don’t you have to operate your rooms under the guise of a club and not take rakes, but instead charge a membership fee or something similar. All semantics. At the end of the day it just seems shady and I wouldn’t keep any amount of money u aren’t ok with losing to a site foreclosing instantly because they are breaking their own tos l. And where is their license issuer that is suppose to uphold WPT Global and make sure they Bode by their own TOS? Very suspect

I would like to know how WPT global makes sure that players are following the rules about trackers and HUDs. I have never heard of a player being banned for this therefore I assume Im being cheated by at least some of my opponents using HUDs

Its my main concern with the site, they should add a built in hud with vpip/pfr like GG’s to make it less unfair for those of us following the rules

They aren't going to release a list of banned names and reasons lol but there are other threads where people complained about being banned for other reasons so there is a detection system in place.

Anyone having geolocate issues in the middle of their sessions? Been playing from the same spot and now they r telling me they can't verify my location when I open up a 2nd table (while still playing on the first). This is extremely frustrating after losing multiple 5 figures the last few days.

Yup. Nothing to do with my internet as I tried with the app on my phone & data and it gave me the same error.

The geo location is phoney, it wont do anything for a tournament game but will give a notice only sometimes for cash and logging into the client itself. I played a session on a satellite internet which had its service in a banned part of the country yet I was able to play no problem. Their security really is a mess and i can only imagine how many corrupt accounts play here including staff. Lets be real, they let Americans circumvent the geo location and play in real money raked games. They give these players 65k in their accounts to play in real money real raked games. They are paying players a wage to play from restricted areas with free money in raked games. In any love card room you cannot play in an unlicensed card room in house raked games. This is illegal, yet WPT Global is allowed to be licensed and do this. Amazing

This company issued their license and over sees player complaints. They are a bottom budget option which, according to google searches, are terribly bad for the players. Sites basically can do what they want with no repercussion. You get what you pay for I suppose

That company didn't issue the actual license, an actual jurisdiction did. That company is just an agent that gets paid to fill out forms for gambling sites, then those forms are sent to the relevant governing bodies.
