Based on what you said in your first post, it seems to me that you are an honest person. You made the mistake of chip dumping $50 to your firend and therefore failed to comply with the terms and conditions (T&R) of the site. Nevertheless, the poker site
ripping you off 36+k is not acceptable!
Go back to the fine print of the poker site. Read it. I was going to suggest that you consult a lawyer. Have a look at these terms and conditions below..

BetOnline.com will not be liable for indirect, special, or consequential damages (or any loss of revenue, profits, or data) arising in connection with this Agreement, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11. Governing Law
This Agreement will be governed by
the laws of Panama, without reference to rules governing choice of laws. Any action relating to this Agreement must be brought in Panama and you irrevocably consent to the jurisdiction of its courts.
