Can't connect to Pokerstars?

All day yesterday and today I've been unable to connect to PS. I haven't changed any internet settings at all, and I figured it was down, but judging by the lack of posts, it's fine. I've never had problems connecting before.

I live on Vancouver Island, is anyone else having this problem? It gets past the updated and opens up the lobby, but just sits there with the network connecting window until after about 5 minutes it says 'unable to connect' and closes.

I also have no problem connecting to FTP right now.

anyhow check your firewall/virus software first make sure its not blocking anything in its report....

obv reinstall ps and stuff, see what happens...

So I just uninstalled, then I went to pokerstars.com, and forgot that I can't even get on their website.

Also, I didn't mention, but I live on campus. Do you think it's possible that my college blocked the website? And if they did would I just be unable to connect, or would it tell me so?

id say its your system admin, ask a friend or someone in the dorm or whereever you are to try and download it and connect. if it doesnt work then contact system admin.

Actually I can get on Pokerstars.NET. I was typing in Pokerstars.COM.

Still, after re-installing, it isn't connecting. When I go to Network Status, it just says 0% connection on all the servers.

Try running a ping in the background. Something about my firewall prevents me from connecting to PS unless I'm running one.

Worth a try.

Ya, I already asked my roommate, and he's having the same problem.

I think I used to know how to do it, but how do you run a ping in the background?

check to see that the time and date are set properly, if you date is wrong, you cant connect to pokerstars.

your system admin is blocking ports, its normal. They are doing it to:

1) monitor bandwith
2) some lame university policy
3)no reason at all cause the admin is dumb

email the admin or go to the office.

this should be in CTH

but someone tell him what ports PS runs on so he can take/email that info to system admin and have it opened up..
like 6 yrs back i lagged mad on UB; i emailed admin he aloted more bandwith to the particular port.

Alright, thanks. I'm studying right now (obviously), but I'll look for the ports tomorrow if no one posts them and send a email.

Last time I needed to get ports opened, it took about 2 months. Pretty dumb how they only did it for PS too.

I sent them an e-mail, and now I can get on. They haven't sent me one back, so I don't know if it was a coincidence, or if they fixed it.
