Bovada on a Mac- Issues and Problem Solving Bovada on a Mac- Issues and Problem Solving

Kind of a weird problem I'm experiencing:

Sounds from the Bovada app won't play through my mac's speakers but through my AppleTV and the home entertainment speakers attached to it. I've checked my output settings and all sounds should be coming through the computer--and they do, except for Bovada's. Anybody else having this problem or know of a solution?

Yeah. You can stop the sounds playing through the AppleTV by following the steps outlined in this thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/48...e-tv2-1465622/

Unfortunately this doesn't make the sounds come from the computer, just stops them from coming from the AppleTV. So you will be left with no Bovada sounds at all

Then copy and paste this and hit enter:
sudo chmod g+rx BovadaPoker
It will ask for your password (for your mac, not for Boavada).
This fix worked for me. All it's doing is adding read and execute permissions for the program. It's safe to try even if you're not sure what you're doing. As long as you copy and paste, I don't think it could mess anything up.
I don't know why the permissions weren't set to begin with. Could be something funky with the user groups on my system.
Thanks for letting us get back to work!

This works thanks! And here is a simpler command to run in one line for anyone else with this issue:

sudo chmod g+rx /Applications/BovadaPoker.app/Contents/BovadaPoker

Still only known solution that I've found is the restart. Honestly, this probably saves me tons of money bc I tilt when it happens but don't want to go through the restart hassle haha.

I had an idea that I'm going to begin testing today--restarting the computer regularly (i.e., before my evening MTT grind, restarting the computer before I even boot the client)--I know it seems silly (prob. is), but I'm thinking that this will maybe extend the period I can play without the issue arising. I say this because it seems that whenever this happens, it has been a while since my last restart, so hopefully this will help.

But ya, it's so tilting--naturally it happened last night when I was somewhat deep in 3 MTTs (wish it would happen in the early stages more often )

Okay, serious wtf moment: deleted the Bovada application from my computer and re-downloaded it (in an attempt to fix above problem). Now, the application won't open, and provides a popup window that reads, "You can't open the application "BovadaPoker" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.

What's going on

For reference, I'm running Mavericks (Bovada states 10.7 and up, so I'm fine there)--any help GREATLY appreciated as I'm looking to play the sunday tourneys!

Firstly, thank you guys for the ultra-prompt assistance with my problem (apologies for not simply reading a page back and finding the solution that was already posted here).

Second--does anyone have any idea whatsoever on a fix to the bovada crashing on mac/needing a restart issue? I grind MTTs and SNGs, and just experienced the most crippling instance of this imaginable, and it's happened many times in the past. If no fix ideas, does anyone know what specifically causes this to occur?

It's been happening to me alot in the last couple of days. If anybody has a fix, it would be greatly appreciated, but I think it's an issue with Bovada's software.

I'm grinding with a second laptop right next to me, on the Bovada application, with the mouse over the login button. Kind of hilarious in a sick way (that this is my adhoc solution in lieu of functional mac software)

I have some questions. I am probably going to deposit on bovada and downloaded the client today, I have a maverick operating system on a macbook pro that originally came with snow leapard. The client downloaded fine and I even watched some games play and I could hear the sound. So do the mac client issues affect mostly Yosemite or is other operating systems affected? Also I did not actually play any games since I did not deposit yet, so is there any issues with the actual gameplay? If there is any other issues as well I would like to know before I decide to deposit or deposit after buying a windows machine.

mac client issue of crashing affects both M & Y. the application opening error (I think) is unique to Yosemite, but this is easily fixed, and only needs to be done once. the actual gameplay is totally fine.

Thanks, it seems like restarting the computer before playing bovadapoker is recommended before playing, or in some cases going to terminal and copy/pasting some commands, if I am reading this thread correctly. Hopefully this gets fixed or does't create major issues because I really don't want to shell out money for parallels or a windows system.

Yeah well the terminal bit is to help launch the application on Yosemite, and only needs to be done initially. The restarting prior to playing is just my current experiment, or at least I thought--don't know if anyone else has seen any improvements using this method.

Hi everyone. I had deleted, reinstalled, added the terminal output and turned off animation and it worked fine for a while and suddenly, it isn't working well the last few days. Is anyone else having these issues?

I'm having an issue where the app won't launch (it pretends to launch, checks for update and then closes) without launching. If I turn off my mac and unplug the modem and wait 20 secs and turn everything back on it works until I reboot my mac again. I will have to follow the same steps above. Very annoying!

How are you guys un-installing the app? I guess deleting it out of the apps folder isn't enough. Re-installing (overwriting) doesn't fix anything.

Try using a program called AppCleaner. Its completely removes every file associated with the program your removing.
