How large of a wire transfer can you request? I have a large amount in Bovada that I would like to withdraw (much greater than $15k) and am wondering the best method to go about it. Do they just keep sending wires for $5k every 5-7 business days (as described on Bovada's site as the max wire amount) in perpetuity until they've paid out the requested amount fully? Or is it better to just request it $5k at a time?

(I'm looking through this thread for the answer but understand there's 500+ pages to go through, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks!)

Is there any way around those payout limits? Surely there's some high rollers out there that have a huge amount of funds that would take an eternity to pay out $5k at a time.

Again, any insight is appreciated.

Wires are $5k max, and you get one about every 3-4 weeks, so it's not a great option. Keep in mind they will only wire to certain banks. I would just request a good amount in checks and also a $5k wire - you can have both pending at the same time. You will get a $3k check in ~2 weeks. Then another one every 1-2 weeks thereafter. Good luck.

Thanks, cheech. I will do as you suggest. Since I am moving about 5 months from now, I will request a payout by check for about 3 or 4 months' worth just to be safe and not miss a check when I move later, and also concurrently do bank wires in the meantime. Will update on my status as it moves along.

You can do that but use a debit card with a visa/mc logo only otherwise a credit transaction is treated as a cash advance and you will be hit with fees and interest.

Update:

Made my last deposit at my CU on 11/30. It appears that it did NOT bounce. That was a concern.

Requested a payout on 12/28. Approved that day.
Got tracking number yesterday. It is supposed to be here tomorrow via Fedex.

Question: if it comes via Fedex (and it was picked up in NY), does this mean the check will be from the North? (In other words, can you tell from the specific carrier where the chek is from).

I also requested a payout on 1/5/13, approved the same day. So, based on recent events I should get that tracking number late next week.

Wiper:

That's a new one. Are they also saying you can't deposit it via a teller?

They just don't trust people not to **** it up at the teller and tell where the $ came from. A decent amount of times, the ATM will make you deposit int'l checks inside anyways. Of course it will work inside.

Actually, that's a very good way to get banned from WU.

Always do your WUs in person. Always.

I only had $200 in my bank account when depositing the check and have spent most of that over the weekend.

This check came from a country north of China.

As a follow up, I requested a payout on the 28th. Got my tracking number 2 days ago and got the check today. I will deposit it today in my CU.

OF interest is that it is the exact same format of my last North check deposited on Nov. 30th. Exactly, except for the check number and amount. So, it should be good!

that's the way I took it too. I have the "yes I know who sent it to me, yes I understand there will be a hold" just deposit it and let me be on my way convo down pretty well, I just figured they'd want to limit the amount of questions people could screw up and just have them deposit in a an ATM.

my CU did once bring a manager out to repeat the same questions, when they asked if it was from online I said yes, when they said 'from eBay?' I said 'yes something like eBay' and that was that once they repeated again a 9-day hold or however long.

I just got a kick out of the note.

Deposited my check at the CU.
They have never questioned it.

I've seen this note from them before. I've also seen something very similar from another site. As another poster stated, it's likely meant to help keep end users from doing and/or saying something stupid at the bank...

That's strange. I got the North check from them today and deposited it into my CU account. No problems and no such note from them!
