Reasonable. Thanks for not getting super angry and cussing out Bovada like so many other people here do ^_^

I cashed out in June and got mine money in about 30 days. It cleared right away.

OK what happens if a check bounces?

I have deposited Bovada checks into my credit union account. I do a lot of busines with that account, so the check does not stand out. I have plenty of funds in the account and have been a good CU customers for 20+ years.

So, back to my question. I just deposited on of those "Up North" checks on Friday. Hopefully, it will go through without any problems but having read the recent posts, somehow I am not so confident about that. I assume if it bounces, the credit union contacts me, I may have to pay some fee (how much? I would guess about $25?) and they would return to the check to me. Is this correct so far?

Than what? I assume I contact Bovada? They tell me to send them a copy of the check? Do I have to fax it or can I take a picture of it and send it as an email attachment? Then what? Do they send me a new check? Do they cover the fee for the bounced check? How long does it take to get the new check?

Sorry for all the questions. I've never dealt with a bounced check before.

Mel

I really wouldn't worry about it, but this is my experience with the 2 bad checks I received in the past.

I deposited check and funds were available either later that day or the next. 2-4 days later the funds were taken out of my account and I received a copy of my check and why it was rejected. I never got the actual check. I scanned the copy my bank sent and emailed it to Bovada. I think I also had to take a screen shot of my online statement. Bovada put the money back in my account and requested another check. I never paid a fee and actually Bovada was Bodog when I received those 2 checks.

something is wrong on there right now as I had one bounce and sent everything back in, they told me it would be solved within 24 hours and after both calling and e-mailing every single day the new payout was canceled Friday and resubmitted.. My bank also lied to my face multiple times and told me it wasn't a bounced check for the first 9 days and told me I was free to received qpay transactions while they have now frozen my bank account and treat me like a thief. I can't even access the $ I had in before it was frozen b/c of this or play any local tournaments this week that action was sold for. And the worst part is I have other people's $ in the account that the bank told me was fine to receive but now they won't let me access this $ or reverse the transaction.

In the meantime Bodog has treated me like an idiot and told me every single day to "rest assured" you will receive more info in the next 24 hours (eventually saying 4-6 hours) and I don't have a tracking # or anything after a week and can't even reach the funds in the bank account that are from other means... oh, they gave me $20 for the incovenience though which is more than my bank did for delaying this for 9 days to start.

You know, this is all quite disturbing. It looks like Bovada is on the way out (hope this is just an over-reaction on my part). Frankly, I have a stellar credit rating and I have dealt with my credit union for 3 decades, so I would hope a bounced check would not damage any of this.

It sounds like I won't know for sure for maybe 3 weeks? (I deposited my check on Friday).

Let me ask another question:

HAS ANYBODY RECEIVED A CHECK FROM UP NORTH THIS MONTH AND HAD NO PROBLEMS (ie: you are reasonably sure that it went through)?

You're concluding that Bovada is on the way out because a payment processor went tits up?

Post less.

Well, as I said, I may be over-reacting because there is a payment processor involved.

I can certainly say that when a company starts bouncing checks, they are almost always in deep doo doo. Hope it's just a payment processor issue. Frankly, I don't understand a lot of things: like why it even has to take so long for checks to be mailed out (now it isn't too bad, but it has often taken 30 days, at least in the recent past). Why do people get the "I'm looking into it" runaround when they call Bovada. Why do people get the "XXX was a holiday so that's why the check is 3 weeks longer than expected" bullcrap from Bovada?

Yeah, I guess I am over-reacting!

Post less? What kind of BS response is that?

when a normal company does this i agree with you-they don't have to play the cat and mouse games poker sites do just to be able to send out checks.bodog was bouncing checks 5 or 6 years ago as well.

If you live in the u.s. and don't understand the current environment for us players and payments you really should just keep your mouth shut.

Do you seriously think that my asking legitimate questions is going to ruin it for everybody?

I am aware of the current environment. I will bow down to all you geniuses who seem to know how all of this works. Hopefully, it will just be a question of Bovada getting a better payroll processor (am I allowed to say that?)

You can say that but its not really an accurate assessment of whats happening and it still seems like you dont comprehend the current environment and its effects.

They most likely have many processors but none are or can be stable or 100% reliable as a result of UIGEA.

Bovada has been nothing short of excellent at circumventing UIGEAs restrictions.

Many players have been getting a check a month for the last five years and never had one bounce.

What you see as a giant flaw is really the opposite. It could have been expected that they would have had many more batches of checks bounce over the last few years than theyve actually had.

There is no problem at all right now.

This is completely standard and to be expected to happen on occasion.

If it starts happening all the time then that would be noteworthy and cause for concern.

This is why people that understand the reality of online poker in the US not just with regards to Bovada but with regards to all sites and in general see your posts as silly.

Ok, I am probably uninformed. But I am willing to learn. Those who just say shut up are rude to say the least.

I have the impression that there has been a major uptick in the number of bounced checks. Is this not true.?

I have another question. When a check gets replaced, is that check invariably good, or is it just another withdrawal request check? In fact, are they willing to just replace the funds and issue a new check, say for a larger amount?

Well, considering we are in the middle of a batch of checks bouncing that would be true.

There however has been no indication that there has been or will be a major uptick in bounced checks over the longer run looking at the larger sample size.

Like I said, if that changes then there will be more cause for concern.

Im not sure I understand your last questions.

I have personally never had a check bounce, but aside from some occasional issues getting a hold of support, AFAIK everyone here has been able to get a check re-issued if it bounces. Not sure if they always got additional money as a credit for inevitable bank fees, but this has happened a few times I believe..

ok let me explain me experience.. i received 2 checks from up north in the past week.

the first check for 3k got here within 12 days of my cashout and cleared in one day( the check had 9 routing numbers)

i received my 2nd check yesterday within 10 days of cashing out and this one had 6 routing numbers.. so i take this one to my same big named bank and they tell me that its going to take 4-6 weeks for this to clear bc they have to send it to collections since its from up north. i then tell them ok ill try another bank.... so i take it to the my credit union this time but i get the same response from them as well. so im kinda frustrated that my first check cleared so fast and this one im having trouble with.

i still have the check and wondering if there are other smaller banks that might clear it faster ... PM me if you have any suggestions for me ... does the 6 digit routing number have anything to do with it as opposed to the first check having 9?

You cant PM yet but there is a very large well know bank that doesnt send checks off to collections unless the check is over 5k. Dont want to post the name in the thread since its against the rules but here is a hint. If someone is running after you what are they doing? Try that bank

Dude

Very interesting about the number of routing numbers. The check I deposited certainly looks legit.

It has quite a few numbers on the bottom left side.

I'm not sure which group is the routing number. The first group is the check number. I think it's the second group, and that has Nine numerals.

Anyone else want to confirm or debunk the theory regarding the number of routing numbers being indicative of a check going thru?

I think too many people are worrying over nothing. There are many more successful checks than bounced checks, so many people have no idea about this thread since they have never received a bounced check. Just continue depositing checks as normal until one bounces on you if one does. Ive never had a bounced check

Checks with a valid 9 digit routing number are drawn on a US bank. The check usually says something "payable through our agent at XXX bank". So even though the check appears to be from the east or north or whatever, at the end of the day the money is coming out of a bank account in the US. Such a check should never go through foreign collections.

Checks without a 9 digit routing number are drawn on foreign accounts. Your bank may or may not require the check to go through collections. You may or may not be hit with huge fees and delays due to this.

Either type of check can bounce.

I HAVE that one... like i said i took my first check from up North to "that well known bank" with 9 routing numbers and that baby cleared in ONE day no questions asked..

Now fast forward a week and i get this 2nd check from up North but this one has 6 routing numbers and that same "well known bank" told be since this is a foreign check we will have to take it thru our collections department..

I have 4 more checks on the way! ugh

ps....when can i start pm'ing?
