I'm using BREAD wallet for my W/D's and have never had ANY issues.

Requested one two nights ago, and apparently will be processed tonight.

Indeed, it looks like it will be possible to make bitcoin usable, even with the fees skyrocketing.

End the Fed just schooled me on this.

There's a new type of bitcoin address called Segwit, that make the fees around 30% (or more) cheaper than normal. If you use Electrum, not only does it have "Payment Protocol" making it compatible with the bitpay card, it also has this new address type.

For these Segwit addresses, there are some that start with "bc1" and some that start with "3." We need to be using the ones that start with "3" to be compatible with all other bitcoin addresses.

Here's End the Fed's guide on how to get all that set up with Electrum: https://imgur.com/a/iTxXr

Once we have this setup, we can request from Ignition to one of these addresses in our Electrum wallet, then send it to our gdax/coinbase account.

Once there, we can get cash in hand at stores/atms immediately with the Shift Card, or sell it and cash out USD to our bank account with Gdax.

When I first looked at Gdax, it looked scary, but it's actually really simple. Basically we will just click deposit on the upper left, then select the BTC Address tab, and send from Electrum to that address.

Once the btc is in gdax, we'll go on the Market tab on the left, click sell, put the exact amount of btc we have, and hit Place Sell Order. This will turn the btc to usd instantly for a fee of .25%.

Alternatively, we can use the limit tab, which will result in not having to pay the .25% fee, but then we have to name a price above the current going rate, and wait until the going rate rises to that price.

After selling, we'll just hit Withdraw in the upper left, select the Bank Account tab, and expect the funds to hit our bank account within a few business days (the next bus. day according to one poster).

Using these methods, we'll be paying only 25 or 30% of the fees we are currently paying with Bitpay and Blockchain.

Are cashouts back to normal or are they still jammed due to congestion?

<rant>Bitpay seems like such a scam.

I cashed out $1150 a couple of days ago. Today I have $1202 in my Bitpay Wallet account. I try to cashout as much as possible to my card. Apparently that means entering $1125 on the bitpay card website. But when I send from Bitpay wallet, it said I was sending $1145 with a $32 fee. When I receive the funds on the card I get $1125 but $1145 was sent so in reality I paid a $52 fee. This is the second time this has happened where $20 has just been lost. I didn't have the option to change this at any point because if I attempted to add $1145 on the Bitpay card, the wallet said I had insufficient funds to do so and the wallet always said I was sending $1145 when I put $1125 in the BP card website. I didn't mind paying the $32 this time as I needed the money asap but that $20 pisses me the **** off.

I finally got my GDAX set up and I'll be using that from now on.

When we send to our bitpay card, we pay the normal bitcoin miner's fee, plus a bitpay "admin fee." This admin fee cost is proportionate to the current miner's fees and is usually more than the miner's fee. It's one of the downsides of using the bitpay card, particularly when miner's fees are really high.

When we go to load our bitpay card, they don't tell us up front how much this admin fee will be, so we have to keep putting lower amounts of usd until we have enough btc to cover the miner's fee + the bitpay admin fee + the usd that will be loaded onto our bitpay card.

They make the process rather counter intuitive, and it's also not clear right away that they are charging this huge admin fee, until you click around and read the fine print. It sounds like this is probably what you're dealing with.

Hi, I just created an Electrum account. Does it generate a new code every time I want to receive Bitcoin? If not, is there a workaround to create a new code? Is anyone else here using Electrum? Thanks for all the advice, I still have a lot to learn when it comes to cryptocurrency.

I am new to Electrum myself so I can't answer authoritatively, but I think it's going to generate a new address for you once you use the one that's shown.

Did you use End the Fed's setup guide (so you can take advantage of the new address type which costs less in miner's fees)? It's here: https://imgur.com/a/iTxXr

When I was checking everything out in Electrum, I went to View - Show Addresses, which creates an Addresses tab, and there it shows a whole bunch of addresses that it's already generated for receiving, and the first one listed there is the same one that shows on the receive tab. I think after you use that one it will probably move on to the next one the next time you want to receive...

Thanks for the reply, tradenine. I did not use End the Fed's setup guide. I should be able to create a new Electrum account, correct? Thanks for the information.

I'm not an expert so take my answer with a grain of salt, but I think if you follow that setup guide, you will be creating a new wallet in Electrum.

When you look at the address it's currently giving you to receive, what does it start with? For these new addresses (that cost less in miners fees), it should start with a "3".

End the Fed's setup guide is based on not having Electrum installed yet, so you may want to uninstall and start from scratch. I actually had to do this because I used the wrong type of installer, so I uninstalled, then downloaded the one on this page (https://electrum.org/#download) under Windows called Standalone Executable, and then it went exactly as shown in the guide. (With that version of Electrum, I think you have to keep the Electrum file on your computer, and run it whenever you want to use your wallet, as opposed to the usual installer files which you just delete after you install the program.)

Without knowing what you already did, or understanding how all this works on a deeper level, don't put too much weight into what I'm saying. Perhaps you would be better served by making the necessary adjustments without uninstalling Electrum, since you already created a wallet (which I hadn't done in my case). I really can't say. I think starting from scratch would probably work, but use your best judgement.

I have just set up a coinbase acct and have money spread out in different crypto wallets, in different crypto currencies, all in coinbase, which I understand I have to use something called GDAX to switch money from crypto to crypto. I went there and it looks like the trading desk at EF Hutton. I think Bovada only uses bitcoin (BTC) So it has be converted.
Anyone know a tutorial on how to actually spend and be paid with crypto without getting ripped off for reasonable fee's??? I vaguely understand these different wallets and how to use them. Help.

1. coinbase/gdax is an exchange where u can buy cryptos for usd and vice versa, but u need to get ur own personal wallet that will be used in between coinbase/gdax and bovada/ignition so there's no direct connection between those two. if u do transactions directly w/o using a personal wallet in between, coinbase/gdax will probably ban u.

u can use any number of personal wallets, but the most recommended one at this point is probably electrum. u can download the one on this page (https://electrum.org/#download) under Windows (assuming ur on windows) called Standalone Executable and follow this guide to setup correctly: https://imgur.com/a/iTxXr

To deposit, u will get bitcoin on coinbase/gdax, send it to ur wallet, then send it to bovada. when u withdraw, it will be just the reverse.

using electrum as described above along with gdax will yield u the lowest fees.

2. coinbase and gdax are two sides of the same coin. they are both owned by the same company. coinbase is the simplified version for noobs, and gdax is the fully-functional version. coinbase also charges higher fees than gdax. u can move bitcoin (and probably the alt coins) between coinbase and gdax instantly and for free.

gdax looks intimidating at first, but its actually pretty simple to use. watch these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9Rw7XB1Wi0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRvN-01B2E0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-5ISrdeWtQ

using gdax u can easily buy and sell the different cryptos for usd for very low fees. i don't know whether or not there's a better way to convert between different cryptos.

BTC Cashout issue similar to others recently reported in this thread.

Requested Withdrawal for $1400 USD on 26 December.

Received e-mail on afternoon of 27 December stating request has been processed and it "may take an average of 15 minutes" to receive funds.

No funds received, and BlockExplorer shows no activity for my address.

Ignition live chat asked me to send an e-mail to support with screenshots. Sent late on 27 December. Received an automated response saying that it may take up to 72 hours to respond to the e-mail.

my sent bitcoin still havent confirmed because of low fee causing me not be able to withdraw. i have that debit card withdraw method, thought it was a treasure, but i read it has all kinds of ridiculous fees. 3%pos, $2+1.5%atmwithdraw fee, $15monthlyfee, $30maintenancefee, whatarethose? i read i will probably even get a negative balance from fees even tho i dont have a balance.

There's more than one debit card but Bitpay's the most popular so I assume you mean that one. There isn't a $15 monthly fee. There isn't a $30 maintenance fee. You won't get a negative balance. Read from the official site or actual reliable sources instead of where ever you got that info from.

nope, talking about regular debit card (actorcard) sent to me. used that option because i cant withdraw with bitcoin because unconfirmed deposit transactions. its been almost a month now that my blockchain still has 0 of 3 confirmations for bitcoin sent to bovada.

This issue has been solved, after hours of communication (ignition claiming BTC was in my wallet and then accusing me of transferring it out)

Ignition stated the withdrawal was processed on 12/19

I was looking at localbitcoins when i was having problems with bitpay. What do you lose in the way of fees there? What I gathered is that you find someone on there with a good reputation, ship them your btc and checking account number, and then they will go to the bank and deposit cash into your account (or do it online it possible).

Can you elaborate on this transaction? Isn't it easy to get scammed on LocalBitcoins?
