I would pretty much snap-switch if Steve, Josem, Stefan, and Chris put together a team to start a new site. I don't know why the hell they are still there apart from the fact that every other site is scummy, too.

I used to play a fairly lame, but enjoyable MMO called Runescape.
It was bought out by a big company and ran into the ground.
Every week something new to try and squeeze every possible penny out of the player base.

Hundreds of thousands of players who were paying a $5/month membership fee quit.
Unfortunately, most of the player-base were veterans. They'd been playing 5+ years. They accepted the changes, kept playing and giving the company their money.

The insane number of players that quit the ruined game, now littered with microtransactions and terrible content that nobody wanted or asked for, was more than made up for by the people that didn't quit. The ones with deeper pockets that paid extra money for vanity items, gold, pay-to-win style content. (Even a wheel, that you could pay to spin, for a chance at hitting a rare item or the jackpot! Sound familiar?)

This type of buyout to squeeze a fast profit from an online product is fairly commonplace. Happens with popular videogames all the time and destroys them within a few years.

My guess is that Amaya want to increase revenues to the maximum to increase the value of the company and sell it on 2-3 years from now.

I was on the side of Pokerstars trying to enter California.

Now, seeing all the changes Amaya has made since they bought the site? **** them. **** them in the ass. I hope they get shut out forever.

And +1 to feeling sorry for Steve, Josem, et al. I know a small piece of what it is to spread a corporate message to people who are going to, and are correct to, **** all over it. It isn't pretty.

I don't agree.
If that was true VIP systems would reward the people who deposit the most, not the ones who rake the most. A fish pond is worthless without regs playing it because the rate of cash income is much lower, the site has a lot of costs. Unless they use bots and superusers to collect the money compensate for the traffic volume loss, it wont work. They r digging their grave.

The most ******ed part of this entire thing is that the games they targeted for changes were the worst to change.

The hu game was hard already, spin and goes already needed changing rake wise and you increased it.

6max hyper sats already had tiny edges.

BoP was important for sng regs

out of all the players who pay rake, sng regs suffer the most, followed by cash regs playing capped.

Guess the saying finally came true. NMHU

VIP systems are necessary to build traffic, so that the fish have someone to play against.

On the site with the most traffic? Much less necessary to have a VIP program. Remember, they'd rather have 6/9 "fish" playing hand, after hand, after hand, until every cent they deposited is raked.

Then again, once they do so, and if there is not steady traffic to keep a new fish interested, it could spiral downward. That's what I hope happens to Stars at this point.

At this point with how large they are, they can profit by cutting out part of their liquidity, as long as it's the withdrawal end of their liquidity that gets cut. Fish obviously have never cared that much about rb% so why offer it? They're happy with a Stars Shark Plush Toy as long as they're being entertained.

Example:

deposits = $100 and withdrawals = $25 --> gross profit = $75

deposits = $90 and withdrawals = $10 --> gross profit = $80 with less overhead costs

As long as reductions in withdrawals outpace reductions in deposits, they are laughing to the bank. If they can manage to turn this into an unbeatable spinning casino, they'll be making far more than the Scheinbergs ever did even with all of 2+2 gone.
