We will initially offer traditional cash games and tournament play for the most popular games including Texas Hold’em No Limit and Pot Limit Omaha. Over time, we will develop other types of poker as liquidity builds including 5-Card Omaha, Limit games or Open Face Chinese Poker.

You have input into the server, processing by the server, and output from the server...

After the processing someone that had control of the server can know all the public cards, or that isn't how it works?

I think this is why its called a decentralized RNG but not mental poker. Just trying to wrap my head.

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

I think this gets more to the point, unless I'm misunderstanding you:

A super user is someone that is able to see other people's hole cards while they themselves are playing in the hand (or could relay the cards to someone that is playing), enabling them to adjust their play based on this unfair knowledge. Is this possible in your model?

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

Yes thats it. I'm thinking from the development/security side so I said it completely different and am thinking about how the rep is probably bouncing these kinds of question off of them. They have said "decentralized" and claimed different points of security, I'm trying to find the exact boundary that the security turns from decentralized to centralized.

What I'm reading is the shuffling/dealing is not provably secure, but the RNG is. Like the cards are all random but there is no assurance for the players that is not traditional security.

Here is my concern:

NOT having super user access is effectively quoted as part of the security they are offering.

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

Yes, of course the decentralized RNG doesn't solve all centralized server problems.
That is why we previously mentioned that CoinPoker is not fully decentralized (at least for now).
Although, the inherent “peer to peer” nature of Mental Poker can be difficult to manage and doesn’t blend well with traditional server based online game models, we believe it could be the right path for all community of poker in the future, but not for now. Transactions costs and current speed of them doesn't allow to make decent playable fully decentralized poker. Therefore, we are choosing more realistic model based on cryptocurrency, with fully transparent RNG and intelligent fairplay security and fraud systems.

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

Yup thanks for clarity. It's not unexpected some projects will have only part solutions and use some traditional solutions. I just was trying to understand and its clear I believe. I should formally point out, you cited backdoor superuser accounts as one of the problems with poker, in your whitepaper.

How will you deal with cheaters if you can't confiscate their funds?

As mentioned previously, all CoinPoker in-game transactions will be internal, meaning there will be deposit/withdrawal process (please look at 1.2.1. "Crypto-Currency based Online Poker" diagrams on white paper).

For more details on fairplay tools, we will develop, please look at section 1.6. "Fairplay (fairblock) program and initiatives" at our white paper.

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

Thx. I have a reasonable understanding of the back end security you mean to implement now I believe. Now in regard to the rest of the model...

I notice in your whitepaper you are talking about the smart money players and the recreational players. Your marketing narrative is eerily similar (or perfectly so) to Poker Stars. Poker Stars has a distinct defined approach to the industry, they are well known and stated as wanting to take skilled money from the winning players and use it to provide unskilled jackpot based gambling games.

This is a binary question, yes or no...are you providing the same model?

I would like to know, because you can't simultaneously tend to the skilled players, while also not attending to the skilled players. They are polar opposite directions and for all I can tell, and I can quote your whitepaper, you have perfectly stated that you will NOT be protecting the profitability of the games.

Please be clear and not political, because their is no logical response that allows for both the protection and non protection of profitable games.

Smart money comes in a range of formats. The “ethically” based players that have developed a high
level of skill in the game and the “unethical” or shady side of the industry including algorithmic/machine learning bots that prey on recreational players and teams colluding by having more than one player at a table.

In fact, the online poker scene has matured significantly from the early days and the combination of the above factors means that recreational players have never been at a greater disadvantage.
Winning accounts are often fueled by rakeback incentives and other loyalties further exacerbating their advantage.
Please explain this:

Of course, there is always a place in poker for skill based ethical players and they should be celebrated accordingly!

We are unique by doing our thing. Virtue Poker is suggesting a fully decentralized operating system, meanwhile we didn’t do full decentralization because we wanted to actually launch our app, and with our actual knowledge, it would be too costly and to decentralized all operations at this point in time.

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

It feels concerning that there are many questions to be answered but only a week to the ico. Is Josem really your head of security, I'm really curious about how security will work, but I got a weird pm from him when I brought this up in a post, even though its public on your website. I never understood the pm and haven't got answer for clarification back.

How closely associated to TonyBet are you guys? Will TonyG be an advisor? After the confirmations of Stars being the owners of PokerNews, and TonyG having sold his shares in PN years ago, is Coin Poker actually owned/run/heavily associated with Stars?

It would be great to have TonyG on board. That's a really good idea, let's hope this happens. We can confirm that Stars are not involved and it's an independent project. We expect to be an alternative for those who play poker.

They just want to give the impression that they are abiding by US Regulations

But they have to cover for it by rejecting US IP addresses

I bought several ICO's and just used a TOR browser

In reality they can accept anyone or anybody to participate or to play and no one can do a damn thing about it

THEY DO NOT NEED PERMISSION FROM ANY REGULATORS , WE ARE USING CRYPTOS!

The fear is from the ICO Market as a whole in which they don't want governments attempting to shut down exchanges

Re: [ANN][ICO] CoinPoker: Poker future is today!

This could be the next evolution of online poker .

If you have the whole world open to playing, then you can have massive games!

Can you imagine winning a million dollar tournament ?

or playing for million dollar pots?

This has the potential to have the highest stakes in poker history!

The software is AWESOME , I LOVE the CLEAN and SIMPLE look as do most online poker players

Can't wait for those big MTT's , I'm in!!!

As a former colleague of Josem at PokerStars I would like to say that having him involved as a security/integrity expert is fantastic and a great choice.
