The fact that they have that policy yet offer freerolls is so scummy. The whole point of those should be to let new customers try the site before they deposit and maybe win a little bit of money.

Definitely PM ChicagoJoey, I bet he'd give your situation at least a couple minutes on his show.

That is exactly what I thought, and they did not have that in the rules when I signed up and they still did not have it on their site in 2017. I could not find an archived page from 2018.

Is this the same company that does quite well as a sports betting company?

If so I have a lot of friends that sports bet on the site and will def want to know what type of site they're truly dealing with should they hit a big parley.

it's the same company.
their reputation is pretty good but their owner was a dick to people if he thought they were taking shots (ie betting bad lines)
He got killed a few months back

They are, and the poker site is a low traffic site. The software isn't very good, but it was fun to play there.
I did not find out until I started digging deeper that they try NOT to pay people when they hit big parlays.

This is pathetic, pure semantics.

It's obviously not worth going to court, but if it did, any judge with half a brain would rule in your favor as their reasoning is ludicrous

Yeah, I remember the owner of this site put me on the blacklist for talking **** back to him. Basically, all sites didn't allow me to use CC to deposit, and I had to use Bitcoin everywhere. I ended up getting removed from the blacklist after he got killed.

No wonder the previous owner of 5Dimes was murdered. What an awful room.

Thank you to everyone for the comments, advice, and help.

When the jackpot hit, it was obviously surreal and I was on cloud nine. When they stole it back 5 days later it was quite the crash. I am glad that I can warn payers, and I hope 5Dimes comes to their senses and does the right thing.

With antics like this, glad the owner is dead.

I mean if the dude gave them rake for 3 years... and they stiff him?

Scum

I was reading that the whole thing might have been a ruse to get the FBI off his back. Who knows? I think I have played with you at Turning Stone a few years ago.

I have been enjoyed reading these forums for over 10 years, but felt the need to warn players, and to see if the community could give any advice on this situation. Thanks in advance.

I have just received the bad beat of a lifetime.

I signed up on 5Dimes 3 years ago, after a poker friend said he plays there and it was an "ok" site. I did a little research and saw they had high ratings as a sportsbook. Also I was not too concerned as I was playing recreationally.

I was told by customer service that I could play the weekly poker freeroll and was good to go. I took 3rd? in the first one I played. I used those winnings to play real money tables sporadically over the next three years building up my bankroll to about 800 dollar. I probably paid a couple thousand in rake over that period. Last Friday I was playing a NL25 badbeat jackpot table, and the unthinkable happened. My quad eights were rivered by a straight flush. I was in shock as I am a working stiff and this is more money than I make in a year. After the win all I thought about was paying off credit cards and paying down a good chunk of our mortgage.

For 5 days there was no issue. And then I got home from working overtime on New Years Day to find the funds confiscated. They tried to say that it was because I did not deposit. I specifically asked about this when signing up and carefully read the terms of service. They did not argue that I could not play free rolls, but switched to line in the TOS that I could not take advantage of the site. I did not even play many freerolls after that because it is after my bedtime, and I had built a bankroll on cash tables.

Do not play this site because I have now dug deeper and am finding out that they like to confiscate funds when someone wins a lot of money.

Let me state that I have never done anything against the terms of service, nor have they said I have. (besides taking advantage of them by playing a free roll they told me I could play!) They let me continue to play for three years.

They should not have allowed him to sit at a poker table, total scumbags.

152k? WTF? I missed the Full flush. How did they get you for 152k?

Full Flush was your basic online poker scam where the site went broke (or more likely stole all the money on deposit), and then stalled people for about a year with no payouts, coming up with countless "the check is in the mail" type excuses, until finally shutting down and vanishing.

Pablo, you're correct. The strong rumor is that Tony is actually alive, and either in witness protection or hiding from the US government.

Notice that the Costa Rican OIJ (their equivalent of the FBI) does NOT seem to be investigating this "murder".

Anyway, I saw you posted on my site, so I will respond to you there.

Google Cache is very useful.

On December 2, 2018, that term about depositing was NOT there.

His situation was quite different. He had far less than that when everyone here had pretty much considered the room dead, and he built up his balance playing effectively play money against players who correctly placed no value on the funds they had in their account.

He did that for months despite many people here telling him it was futile, and a waste of time, and his balance would have been even higher except that the room eventually shut down and that stopped his "grinding."

Your situation is different as the room involved is still alive and kicking (unlike perhaps the old owner). I believe you have a very legitimate case to make, but you need help, and you might even find someone who can help that will do it on a contingent fee basis (ie: they get some percentage if you ever get paid).

There are some posters here with some experience, but it will certainly be a tough mountain to climb mainly due to the logistics, but it has been done before, so you might want to make an effort to get that type of process started. Best of luck with it.

This must have been during that time when they were calling around and asking for deposits, and getting people to deposit, only for them to find out no tournaments were even running.
