Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

Based on the version number of SpinWiz in the allowed list and the SpinWiz website it looks like the version allowed just registers people for Spins - similar to TableNinja - so if you want to have 6 open at a time it will keep regging you till you get to 6.

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

Moving forward

While seat-selection programs will be prohibited in Spin & Gos, we are not changing our policy towards generic seating scripts at this time. However, we want to strongly emphasize ‘at this time’.

Whilst our historical stance has always been to permit these tools due to the fact that they do not include any gameplay logic directly, we have never been fans of their existence due to the impact it has had on the game selection process. As these tools have continued to evolve and their impact is felt more and more, we are going to be looking at prohibiting all seating scripts in the future once this round of revisions has settled down and we are able to discuss the most effective solutions to limit their ongoing usage.

In short, we feel our policy towards the use of third party tools and services must remain fluid and adapt to the increasing level of sophistication of external tools for the overall betterment of the online poker ecology. We believe this stance is evident with these impending changes.

How long it will take to find the best solution to these issues is an open question. The process is in motion, and if you have input and ideas on this topic, we would be very happy to hear from you.

I want to play with players i want to play, not with the players i am forced to play, so i hope tablescanners won't be banned ever. Also it saves a lot of time joining waiting lists with only few clicks instead of 100 and few.

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

A few stupid questions. Am not playing on Stars at the moment, because there is better places but maybe I'll come back in the future (if you offer less than ~70% of turbo/hyperturbo MTTs, spingos, ... LOL).

I have for example color coded my M (number of rounds) using black, red, orange, yellow, green. Do I really have to change that now, if I would potentially decide to play on Stars? Is that hurting other players?? Also HEM2 has notecaddy on by default. What about that? Do I have to turn it off now if playing on Stars?

I can understand that Stars wants to do something about certain programs giving an unfair edge, but the implementation of such rules should be better IMO. For example distinguishing between basic and sophisticated, it needs more words.

whatever, am curious to see how this plays out....

I don't see why they can't prevent certain stats when just on stars, like they do when limiting HH's when observing a table.
The changes HM2/PT4 made only take effect on stars/tilt. They will behave like they always did on other sites.

See my comment above. You don't need to do anything yourself to make the software compliant other than update it.

HM2 has been changed so that in the HUD Settings > Stat Appearance > 'Color Ranges' only the first 3 colors/ranges will work on FTP/Stars.

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

"HUDs are no longer permitted to display non-numerical data, categorize players or dynamically display statistics specific to a certain situation."

So, slight changes to the default HUD in HEM/PT, will be banned? Such as showing the VPP in 2 different colors depending on the value? And, a special popup for post flop (or river), will also be disallowed?

And what about consequences if players do broke those new rules? (deliberately or not)? What kind of punishment will be enforced?

The client, I think, is supposed to show a warning pop up, which should says the software xxx can't be running while the client is on.

Regarding breaking the new rules, I believe you will get a warning via email first..?

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

the biggest question of all is...

why hasn't any of these changed been informed via mail to everyone?
I mean, most of the player base never visit 2p2 and might be breaking the rules as of October 1st, without even knowing it?

edit: and why is it problematic simply visiting all pokerstars web sites for a few days now?

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

i really don't get this at all.

i have a custom HUD with custom colour ranges. i made it myself. i like it. i can tell at a glance with peripheral vision what kind of player i'm dealing with. that's cheating now ????

you're gonna take away my colour ranges ????

my colour ranges are what's holding back online poker ???????? k ................ i quit

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

I didn't really get the 3 color max thing.
Is this for a single stat?
Or if you have vpip white, pfr red, 3bet blue and fold to 3bet yellow you have 4 colors total and not allowed?

PokerStars means your first option. Taking VPIP stat as an example:
OK = 1, 2 or 3 colour ranges
Not OK = Splitting VPIP into 4 or more colour ranges

Where did you get that impression? PS are allowing you colour ranges - just not 4 or more colours in any one stat. A stat broken up into 3 colour ranges is fine

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

Could someone like make a list over which stats are still allowed on Stars/FTP/Party?

VPIP, PFR, 3Bet, Fold to 3Bet, Aggression Frequency/AF and so on...

There are people who just are not aware of the rule changes. Inform them if you are going to change them.

What exactly is wrong with this? He has more than 3 colours on his HUD, sure, but no indication that he has more than three on any individual stat.

there is nothing wrong with having the stat name abbreviations, auto rate icons can be manually assigned still, and colored outlines are not against the rules.

Can Pokerstars see your hud ? What else can they see ? Everything on the screen ? Aren't there data privacy issues ?

Re: 3rd Party Software on PokerStars: Proposed Rule Changes

i just don't understand the arbitrary imposition of a limit on the number of colour codes you can have for a stat. why 3 ? why is having 3 ok but not 4 ? why not 5 ? WHY ? saying you are happy with 3 or that i should be isn't an answer to the question of why this arbitrary number or why a limitation at all. my colour codes arent automating anything for me ? i have to interpret them and my skill in doing that is an edge. if someone's gonna play so straightforward that i can tell what i should do against them with a glance at the colours of their stats, they should try learning and improving, right ?

if pokerstars want to take my edges away they want me out of the player pool. ok you're going about it the right way, guys.

No, not that I am aware of. I am checking with our QA/Testing Manager that was in charge of reviewing the document and working with the developers to get our HUD compliant but am not sure when he will be around since it is Sunday.
