stars was never the most profitable site at many formats/stakes. not moving cause of worse software is just unproffesional as rakeback and game softness pays much more in the end

What used to be a great site that listened to its players. Now what a joke. Ridiculous move. How do they think this is best for poker?

Here's the link to the mirror of the blog, the problem is solved.

(I had forgotten that blog entries are hosted on a separate mirror that, unlike the ones with actual gambling offers, has never been blocked in Russia.)

Lets be honest, half of the people saying they will leave are BS'ing. If not, great for the remaining regs. Where there is fish, there will be people to take their money

A couple of thoughts...

- No rewards for 5/10+ -> Are you trying to kill off high stakes?

- Yes you won't have to payout SNE, but it's not just those who make it you will avoid paying out, all those that go for it and miss will generate significant rake for PS.. me for example. 700k this year. Without the goal of SNE, I would of finished on 200k. That's a lot of missed volume, but Stars have obviously done their research.

Stars are a for profit company, little point moaning. They will do what they can do maximise profits. Isn't there another site that copies Stars' reward structure right now? Good time for them to invest in marketing...

PS...Question, is FTP changing their rewards as well? They offer 40% I believe?

One change of all this is that the entry of barrier is almost gone. I'm sure Pokerstars have done simulation on this, but if there was a time for competitive sites to steal traffic this certainly is the time.

This is why the Ongame network is a hot mess. It was owned and operated by amaya. It has less traffic than 888 spain. If they had a clue how to run a poker operation they would clearly be higher. Amaya is under some weird idea that if they just somehow tripped into the player base they could then print (which they will for a short while), not realizing that bringing stars down to the level of their competitors (or worse) will completely ruin their longterm investment.

It is interesting how slick and tight Stars used to be.

The have been bounced into this announcement by somebody putting up a page on the russian site and forgetting to take it down. Just the latest in a long line of slip ups from Stars since Scheinberg's sold out.

Not only were Stars much more player focused, they ran a very tight ship. Since the sale to Amaya, we have had the client having to be updated every week or so because of bugs, the rake increase that they realised would result in even some of the best players in certain games becoming losers overnight, etc etc etc.

-good, high volume players dropping down in stakes
--starting table selecting
---less games running overall
----scripting/bumhunting getting even worse by more players

...sounds really great for the poker ecosystem overall.

Well done.

At least this will level the playing field across different poker networks and we get much more traffic on eurosites.

Im wondering how the 5/10+ tables are gonna be now, playing between regs will be very silly now. And games will be for the players with bigger wallets/scripts.

Seems very unfair. Ill probably have to stop playing 5/10 and higher, and probably most regs too. Thats definitely a bad news for every reg of nl600 and smaller stakes.

I remeber a time where PS sometimes anounced good news.
