Any other significant changes they will typically notify players by email.
This player received no such email.

I would also argue that if they were trying to be at all transparent with the changes then, for example, the $5.10 buy-in ($5 + 10c rake) would've changed to $5.24 ($5 +24c rake) rather than $5.10 ($4.86 + 24c rake)

Disgusting.

Well I received this email:

Dear [my username],

We are making changes to specific ring game rake and tournament fees, effective March 21. The game types affected will be Spin & Go’s, heads-up Zoom, rebuy and add-on tournaments, hyper-turbo tournaments, and low and medium-stakes ring games.

To see our new poker table rake figures, click here. For Spin & Go’s, click here.

For a full breakdown of these changes, and the reasoning behind them, visit our Corporate Blog, which is available in English only.

If you have any questions, please contact support@pokerstars.com.

and then a follow-up confirming a date change:

Dear [my username],

We recently sent an email about the new price changes for PokerStars. This email inadvertently indicated an effective date of March 21st; however, the new price changes will go into effect on March 28th. See below for full text on the email sent earlier today

If I remember correctly, I think Pokerstars said somewhere that they had sent emails out to everyone (but don't quote me on that as I'm not completely certain).

But it's worth noting that in Gmail, this email did not show up in my "Inbox", but in my "All Mail" section instead. So check other areas of your mail (not just your default "Inbox") such as this and also the "Spam" section just in case it ended up in there.

Of course I checked all areas. They did not send me these emails. Just because you received one does not mean everyone got one. Another poster just up there also had the same experience as me.

Yeah, given I am an active player and was not notified of these changes as well I wonder what criteria they used to decided who did get emailed about the rake increase.

I wonder if an email sent to some players but not all, and with an incomplete list of games effected, is better or worse than no email.

You can set your contact-preferences on your stars-account - depending on how they classified that email, it may not have been sent to people who have not selected some 'send me email about/when'-setting.

I didn't get it, but I don't play on stars anymore and have de-selected all of those 'mail me'-options to stop all the promotional mails they sent out (especially the betstars and casion-stuff).

So comparing those setting for those who did and did not get it, might explain why some have not gotten it.

It does not explain it, my contact preferences are all set to Yes and I receive every other PokerStars email.

They are big on being unethical scumbags these days. Reneging on SNE crossed the line and now they clearly dgaf.

Cool, now we're getting somewhere! Care to elaborate what settings you have on your account that might be relevant here? Cheers.
I looked in my spam account and it was there.

Hi everyone,

This thread should be for discussions of the Poker Stars VIP Club. There are plenty of other threads for bitching about how terrible Poker Stars is, bragging about how great they are, discussing the poker economy in general, and other topics. I know that some of this will come up naturally in conversation about their VIP club, and that's fine, but it would be great if we could try and avoid some of the lengthy OT derails, as they're continually leading to other problems and making this thread quite unreadable.

Even worse are the derails about specific posters. If you have an issue with a point someone makes, debate the merits of the point, not the poster. If you think a poster is a problem and/or generally a disturbance, report the post(s) in question (red triangle to the left of every post).

Thanks!

To clarify, the email in question was sent to GoldStar+ VIPs who haven't opted-out of receiving email communications.

Dylan

Got you Dylan, thanks for the clarification.

Bit of a joke that though, hardly informing the customer base is it? I would wager that meant over 99.9% of your database was not informed, and probably at least over 85% of active (paid some rake in last 6 months) players.

However no doubt when BetStars send their spammy rubbish it goes to everyone not opted out of communication.

Seems dishonest to hope recs don't notice a significant price increase. There's not even a news item in the client, news is full of spam but this didn't make the cut?

You could have done more.

Have you checked that:

-You have 'Yes' ticked for 'Poker' Communication Preferences in the Settings section of the client.
-It didn't end up in your junk/spam folder?
-You were a GoldStar or higher VIP at the time they were sent last week?

If that doesn't help explain why you didn't receive it, send me a PM with your PokerStars UserID and I can look into it.

Regards,
Dylan

So notification of rake increase is now part of the VIP-system and considered a reward for goldstar+ VIPs..?

I'm only a rec thee days but why is it that only GoldStar+ receive this email?

Isn't this something you should be advising ALL players?

I've had emails for spin n goes and other stuff but when it comes to a price change you have a "criteria" for who you email?

So long as your protecting the eco-system I suppose

So it seems we are in the right thread afterall.

I was platinum star until December. Now, as a direct result of changes that occurred in January, I am no longer goldstar+.

Anyway, my interpretation of this goldstar+ email policy is that they really want rec players to remain in the dark about the significantly higher rake resulting in significantly harder to beat/unbeatable games. They want to take as much as they can as quickly as they can while many players remain oblivious.

Shady shady practice.
