Who was is that said "part of online poker is being online"?

I've sat out and waited for friendly regs in the past, but my default action in this spot is to smash the raise button and wish the clock would somehow speed up.

You’re playjng a game where the intention is to take other people’s money within a set of defined rules, and one of those rules is that if you’re disconnected your hands are folded. People used to get upset about being check raised too.

If you found out an opponent didn’t bluff because he thought it was dishonesy your response be stop blurring and still call him down with bluff catchers?

It's ridiculous to even consider anything but blinding out your opponent. LOL at calling that stealing. It's one of the risks of playing online poker. I've been disconnected hundreds of times and was blinded out every time. If everyone does that, it's fair to everyone otherwise it's a guesswork if your opponent would do the same and you'll surely end up losing long term.

If I have a bad connection I'll simply not play because it's burning money.

cannibals will say the same thing when they arrive on your hapless body writhing in the desert after you twist an ankle. its only guesswork whether another group would eat you or help you.

or imagine your opponent loses his speed skate blade...

as someone who has been on both sides of this multiple times i'll parrot that preemptively mashing raise is just the standard, and if you're waiting for your opponent it's almost equivalent to rebating them some losses on a bad beat.

will be really interested hearing how this investigation plays out though, sounds like foul play

Normally bumps of two-year old threads are annoying but this one involves cannibals and speed skating (speed-skating cannibals??).

Yup,
That's your responsability to check that you have a stable connexion before regging a 25k tournament. I would definitely steal every blinds I could, as fast as I could, if my opponent d/ced.
As a matter of fact, I've done it before in Mtts and I would surely do it in a high stake tournament.

This is ACR people it's not pokerstars or party poker. This is a site where you can have the best internet connection in the world and you still get disconnected while many other are connected. WPN is a problem when it comes to this issue. Back in 1018 the problem was soooo much worse too.

Getting DCed during a Sunday tourney schedule was super standard and still happens from time to time.
