It is a stand-alone token, about the size of a USB drive, but does not connect to your computer. It has 6 random digits flashing at any time, and the numbers change approximately every 30 seconds.
When you log into your account, you also need to type in the 6 digits that are currently displayed on your security token in addition to your user name and password to gain access to your account. Most companies that offer VPN access to their employees require their employees to have one of these to work remotely. World of Warcraft even offers these to gamers who don't want their accounts to be hacked. This feature renders keyloggers (and anyone without physical access to your secureid) practically useless.
