What gets you going? What gets you going?

Hi all,

I have recently been involved in the process of coming up with ideas as to what online players value when choosing a room to play their online poker in. Obviously lots of fish, software, guarantees, celebrity players etc play a big part but I am more interested in the bonuses and promotions that everyone values.

What else apart from deposit and reload bonuses do people look for to play on a site? Are tournament tickets, freerolls, rake races, STT leaderboards etc valued? Are there any other promotions that would make you play on a particular site?

Thanks

Ali

Steady reload and deposit bonuses, bonuses, bonuses for me is way more important than the other stuff. It attracts fish, making the games better. I don't play much in tourneys, so I'm probably biased away from promotions involving that, fwiw. I'd also be interested in hearing how people feel about rake races, freerolls, etc.

I miss the old bonus whoring days.

- rakeback (preferably 'dealt')
- support (fast replies)
- fast cashout (non-bouncing checks etc.)
- neverending bonuses: 8x or better (buying bonuses with player points) if RB is not possible

As for rake races: LOL is all I can say. I mean ... common, I and 90% of others are non-nosebleed-ers and not being able to massive-table 10 hrs/day. What are my chances of winning one?

What makes you think this discussion is about ongame?

Freerolls will get you donks and busto people. Rake races are only of use for 2/4 FL grinders.

The thing that would make jump up and down would be constant reload bonuses with points that clear concurrently or to add rakeback on top of a similar loyalty program what Stars has.

Party's recent promotion allowing you to win "free-commision" days in which you were given 100% rakeback was the best promo I've ever seen or heard of thus far.

Unfortunately I'm a US player, so before any promotions can be considered, this is the top of my list in what I look for in a pokersite:

1. Legality
2. Ability, ease, and speed of withdrawal
3. Customer service
4. Ease of deposit

Its sad to say, but the state of poker for Americans means the safety of my money comes before any promotions. Interms of promotions:

1. Cash money above all else

Freerolls, VIP tounament, rake races, player stores, player points, etc.,... all that hoohah comes in a distant second to cash rewards. Whether its bonuses or rakeback I don't care.

Guy wants ideas - I give him ideas. Ideas that I like and accidentally something realistic, proven to work.

Because of the part I quoted - 8x PP neverending bonuses, which is the standard on ongame (the current #1 bonuswhore site).

You cannot interpret a certain multiplier to any room, because the ways you earn them are completely different. Just seemed silly to name 8 player points or less per $ when you could earn a point for every $ you contribute to the rake etc.

Ok Ok, 8xPP is a good deal and so is 13xRH, and so was 5x back in old days at Party. My idea was: 'Rakeback or equivalent' by giving example of something realistic, not just be a jackass w/ "100% RB 4 SURE!!!". I'm pretty sure OP will understand what kind of 'valueback' if reffering to.

First and foremost I am a US player so the site needs to accept me
Second , I will try any site that supports mac
I also recently tried Pitbull just because they offer $10 free and I sent their link to about 4 people who also tried it , But I have not made a deposit
Porn stars playing with themselves as avatars would also get me to try a site

I agree with Suigin's post alot.. cash>any other "loyalty rewards" imo. This is just assuming that if it's a smaller site, you're already offering decent rakeback % as well.

The most important thing to me about moving to a site is the mix of NL cash tables: ideally it would have heads up as low as 50nl, 200bb hu+6max tables, and fast tables.

Since I'm in the U.S., my criteria is down to (in decreasing order of importance):

1. Won't rip me off

2. Diligent in trying to keep other players from ripping me off

3. Getting paid

4. Responsive customer service

5. If I can get those four things, anything else is gravy. Damn, I miss Neteller.

1. Honesty of the site + Cheating detection
2. Software. Ease of multitabling. Compability with scripts & other software. Best example Stars.
3. Availability of NL cash games / table selection
4. Soft games
5. Low rake / bonuses / rakeback
6. Customer service

In order of importance. But i need at least 5 out of 6 at a satisfactory level to even consider playing at the site.

Right now, there are only 3 sites that satisfy this condition. PokerStars, PartyPoker, Full-tilt.

Being in the Us my choices are limited but here it goes.....

1. Quality of Play....nits on stars make it harder to make money than on other sites.

2. Email response time....I got used to Stars stellar time and then encountered Full Tilt's crawl....vexing

3. Cashout reliability.... Paper check speed and how the site handles situations that go wrong

4. Software interface......Ugh loathe AP

5. Promos

If the market was open again I would play Party, Stars, and Tilt. As is Tilt I can make more but everything else makes me tense.
