Hey y'all

I'm planning to go travelling worldwide and play Online-Poker (mainly on Pokerstars). As my country has an upcoming law that may prohibit to play Online-Poker, I would need to provide proof of my residence each time to be able to continue and play Online-Poker in different countries.

However, for the proof of residence, Pokerstars requires documents/bills that show your name and address. But as a traveller, you won't have a fixed address, so you wouldn't receive any bills to your name directly which you could hand them in. But it seems to me that there needs to be a solution for such "poker nomads". Also other named documents are mostly dependant of a bank account or fixed address in said country, so those also aren't a solution.

Has anyone of you encountered the same issue and solved it - if yes, how?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah a detailed answer to this would be highly appreciated. Looks like there is no other way arround than to rent something small and cheap in some country where its allowed to play?

As long as you get verified in one country which is allowed on Pokerstars, you won't have issues accessing Pokerstars from other countries which are allowed. You won't need to get verified for each country.

Well thats already good to know, thanks, but what in case your country is about to pass a law which makes it disallowed and you want to provide proof while you are travelling outside of your country?

You'll need to find a place to rent in an allowed country, and at the very least have some sort of utility bill for that address to show poker rooms.

I think that's all that Pokerstars would ask for a standard verification. But some other poker sites won't be satisfied unless you have at LEAST a bank statement with that address on the statement.
For example to get verified on William Hill was the strictest I've ever experienced.

After that is done, if you travel around and buy stuff from the pokerstars store, you could always check what kind of mail forwarding services the local post office offers.

Edit: Definitely ask their support about this, they are very informative.

Same experience with William Hill for me.

OP, email [email protected] and ask them about your target county explaining you want move there and they will very likely explain you everything and there will be less issues going forward if you warn them before hand.

I suggest you email the site(s) concerned and ask them. Their rules may vary in different countries and in different situations.

No, there absolutely doesn't. That is to say, if you mean they need to have a solution for people who are travelling without taking up residence anywhere else, and their legal country of residence is somewhere they can't allow them to play from, then not only do they not need to offer a solution, they probably shouldn't.

That said, there are often different ways to satisfy residency requirements so that poker sites can feel confident that they are not breaking any laws by allowing you to play. However, asking people on the forum probably isn't the best way to go; this is:

But of course I get that you may just be looking to find out other people's experiences. I think you'll find there are some existing threads on the topic if you do a search.

Yeah, definitely. It was not my plan to go around the sites, I've simultaneously oppened a request with PS. It was more to gather the experience from other people to stand my ground in case my request gets declined carelessly.

I was using the search function, but couldn't find similar cases to mine. Most of the results were from people going on holiday, where it was unclear, whether their home country allowed Online-Poker or not.
